“Gallagher recalled to The Sunday Times March 8, 2009 that a writer was going on about the lyrics to this song, "and he actually said to me: 'You know, the one thing that's stopping it being a classic is the ridiculous lyrics.' And I went: 'What do you mean by that?' And he said: 'Well, 'Slowly walking down the hall / Faster than a cannonball' - what's that mean?' And I went: 'I don't f---ing know. But are you telling me, when you've got 60,000 people singing it, they don't know what it means? It means something different to every one of them.'"
So glad to see y'all on the Oasis train now, as a channel that has gone waaay down the Oasis rabbit hole, we can say that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Brothers Liam & Noel Gallagher, the lead singer & lead guitarist/songwriter respectively, are icons of 90's UK Music, and are just as good, if not better, in a live setting than in the studio. Here's what we recommend: Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Slide Away, Don't Look Back In Anger, Cast No Shadow, Don't Go Away, All Around The World, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, we could go on but we think that's a good place to start! Embrace The Suck! Daniel & Spencer
This are some great songs from Oasis Don't Look Back in Anger, Wonderwall, The Masterplan, Live Forever, Slide Away, Morning Glory, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Stand by Me
More Oasis? Don't Go Away Stand by Me Wonderwall Don't Look Back Me Anger Roll with It Live Forever Supersonic Oasis is an amazing band in the 90s. I'm not living in the UK, but if you ask them Oasis they probably know it
The band of a generation. They have an unbelievably deep song catalog. Noel Gallagher’s lyrics are ambiguous and mean so many different things to so many different people (plus a fair amount of utter nonsense). Thanks for doing Oasis 👊👊
salute to you. my wife and I are 44 and 42 (she's the old head and I'll never giver up on the "tell me again, what were the 70's like joke" lol) but out little half Filipina/half Italian daughters are so obsessed with Oasis and Run DMC. I love it.
Bought this album as soon as it came out in 1995, it was a classic then and it’s still a classic, selling around 22 million albums. Not bad for working class lads from Manchester, England.
I actually have lyrics from this song tattooed on the top of my foot. “A dreamer dreams, she never dies.” I wrestled with doing lyrics from such a mainstream song of theirs, because I am an Oasis FANATIC, but it’s such a great line, and it has sentimental value to me. I plan on getting more Oasis lyrics eventually anyway. lol.
This song is an incredible time traveler. Reminds us that whatever you had as friends and experiences it will end and be gone forever.. like a supernova.. the end of a star.. the end. Someday I will be dead.. where were my “friends “.
Lead singer almost jumped out his hotel balcony in Las Vegas. A maid talked him down. He wrote a beautiful song about it called I WANNA TALK TONIGHT. His brother plays guitar but sings this song!!
Are you sure that’s the story? I heard Noel decided to leave the band while they were on tour in the U.S, and hooked up with a girl, and spent the night with her, and that’s when he wrote the song.
Champagne is a classy drink lol and a supernova is a star that has burned through its life cycle ! I interpret “ while we were getting high “ as you never supported or noticed us until we reached or passed the pinnacle of our career ! Just my thoughts
I love this analysis, Chris. Apparently, though, ‘Where were you while we were getting high?’ is just a Manchester greeting...where the lads are from. 🖤. Plus, this was only their second album, so not at the hight yet. Fun fact...I’m watching this while drinking tea out of my WWYWWWGH? mug. Lol.
It’s amazing how each person can interpret a song differently. Maybe for me it was an interpretation of my own self and I didn’t even realize it . I’m learning the proper technique to become a reliable bass player . Finally got invited to play at some shows. In all honesty I don’t think many of my friends or family will be there to support me .
@@chrishoopengarner2940 This is the beauty of Oasis. Noel always encouraged self interpretation. As I guess should be with any art...it’s the emotions it conjures. I hope you get all the support you need with your bass playing. Best of luck 🖤.
"What does champagne supernova is thew sky mean". It means they were getting high. This is one of those bands where you need to do live versions, you wouldn't think it from the sound of their studio recorrdings, they are super powerful live, It's like a wall of sound.
I didn't think it was possible to have never heard this song. 😅 This one, and of course, "Wonderwall". What's the Story Morning Glory is a fantastic album on the whole. It's my favorite album of theirs, and it reminds me of a very specific time in my life: 9th grade.
@@michaelfallon6561 Yeah, they never did as well in America as they should have. As someone who’s been to a few of their shows here, they still sold out in minutes, so they definitely have a fan base here, just not enough radio play.
Oasis had good drummers - Alan White on this track, was their classic drummer... Tony McCarroll on the first Oasis album. Zak Starkey (son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr) did the last 2 Oasis albums. Chris Sharrock played drums on their last tour.
Such an amazing song. When this came out, my kids were little. No matter- Momma would crank this up when it came on the radio. I cranked up anything and everything that was good. lol And yes, they know the song well. Son 33, daughter 30.
Check out these other Oasis tunes: Stand By Me Live Forever Some Might Say Morning Glory Cast No Shadow Stop Crying Your Heart Out Don’t Look Back In Anger
Randy Travis the man who saved country. Deep baritone voice. Get on him before its too late. "1982" "Three wooded crosses" "walked on water" list could keep going and going
There's many theories on here btw, but the champagne supernova Oasis were singing about is literally a glass of champagne in a Martini glass, that's had the rim pressed in coke (the powder kind) to dust the edge.
Well done reaction video! When heard in its entirety (not the radio version), this song has a legitimate claim to being the best song ever. The lyrics certainly suggest the paradox of misunderstood youth growing up in an accusatory yet negligent world of indifferent adults while the music takes you on a trip like the last 15 minutes of 2001: Space Odessey. Simply brilliant!
I always thought that it was about someday Riding off into the sunset together landslide of life and beautiful champagne sunset with suns rays like a supernova. Made sense to me. Lol
And the Chicago 98’ version of Slide Away!! I also kind of prefer the Familiar To Millions version of this song. I just love how Liam says we were getting high! in that one. lol .
Check out this whole freaking album!! You won't regret it!!! The two leads of this band, Liam and Noel Gallagher, are brothers and have a notorious love/hate relationship with each other. They are always fighting with each other. Sometimes even on stage. Consequently, the band broke up officially in 2009.
Thanks for reacting to Oasis! I think their music - while rsuccessful mostly in the 90s and a bit beyond - is quite timeless. "Don't Look Back In Anger" needs to be next!!
This is one of their best songs for sure. Also check out Morning Glory, Acquiesce and Headshrinker. The latter 2 are a couple of their most powerful songs that often get overlooked.
The vocalist from Gorillaz use to be in a band (Blur, "song number 2" hit song title) there was Oasis biggest rival. Oasis won (My opinion), and Damon(Blur/Gorillaz vocalist) made Gorillaz. The battel for King of Brit Pop/90`s UK Rock, as Grunge (led by Nirvana) was taking over USA. Till Kurt did that thing (RIP), and Hip hop toke the Culturally lead/became pop.
First discovered oasis when I was about 11-12 around 1993 give or take a year. Didn't understand a lot of the music I listened to then. From bone thugs n harmony and 2pac to oasis and bon jovi. To this day I still dont understand oasis. But they have never stopped sounding amazing and meaningful rather I understand it or not. Lol
Don't Go Away, D'you Know What I Mean, Don't Look Back in Anger, Acquiesce, The Masterplan, Wonderwall, Some Might Say, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Live Forever... I could go on and on. So many great songs of a once in a Generation band ❤ Love your reactions 👍👍 Shit, I forgot Supersonic!! 🙃
To me “slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball” and “champagne supernova in the sky” is a reference to being high. It doesn’t need to make sense, because what does what you’re high as a kite lol. I was once so damn high I counted to infinity in the blink of an eye, which also makes no sense lol.
Definitely a good one! I love Roll It Over, Sunday Morning Call, and Where Did It All Go Wrong? too, but not many people seem to talk about those. Standing On The Shoulder of Giants gets a lot of flack as an album because there ARE a few shit songs on it, but also GREAT songs as well.
“Gallagher recalled to The Sunday Times March 8, 2009 that a writer was going on about the lyrics to this song, "and he actually said to me: 'You know, the one thing that's stopping it being a classic is the ridiculous lyrics.' This, of course, is the Oasis magic. 🖤
🎸 🇬🇧 🍺
In my opinion this is the best song Oasis recorded and it wasn't even a single in the uk which is crazy.
That’s the point of psychedelic rock
It's when your tripping obviously

Oasis is an amazing band in the 90s. I'm not living in the UK, but if you ask them Oasis they probably know it
One of the greatest songs ever written. I'm almost 40 and have been singing along to Champagne Supernova for 28 years.
The band of a generation. They have an unbelievably deep song catalog. Noel Gallagher’s lyrics are ambiguous and mean so many different things to so many different people (plus a fair amount of utter nonsense). Thanks for doing Oasis 👊👊
I may only be 27, but this is total 20-22 year old music. Less than 3 years out from 30, I finally get the message.

An all-time classic by Oasis! So many great songs, between 1994 and 2000 one masterpiece after the other 👍
This generation don’t seem to appreciate Oasis like mine did. They were right at the top in a top heavy talented 90’s generation.

This song reminds me of the beginning of adulthood. First apartment, first love, first freedom, do I miss it. The late 90s were so much fun.
This song is an incredible time traveler. Reminds us that whatever you had as friends and experiences it will end and be gone forever.. like a supernova.. the end of a star.. the end. Someday I will be dead.. where were my “friends “.
Need to react to some of there live performances. One of the best bands to play live . 'Cast No Shadow' at Maine Road is phenomenal
This was my favourite "Oasis" song back in the day!! ✌️ ❤️ 🇬🇧
Wait this is the first Oasis song you’ve done!? Ok so ‘Wonderwall’ ‘Supersonic (live at Earl’s Court 1995)’ and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ next 👍
Easy Red Devil, Easy!
Loved Supersonic 🔥
Sometimes champagne is a collor, champagne Collor. A super nova is a star that explodes or implod while dies
I love his voice. It’s so pure. Thank you
PLEASE MORE OASIS
Hahaha bruh, your anticipation of the next drum beat was on point!! Great song! One of my top 10. Great reaction! ✌🏼

This song still gives me shivers ❤ 🍾☀️
Wonderwall!!!!!!!!!!
Some Might Say is often left off peoples Oasis playlist, but it’s a really good song that I’m certain you’d like….a lot.
Monster anthem! Means absolutely nothing just nonsense for your brain to interpret. Brilliant live too!

"Rock N Roll Star" Live preferably. Show how they can absolutely rock. Melodic and heavy.

I'm sure I've walked slowly down a hall and felt like I was flying before. I remember it as vibrant colours, through a fish eye lens with a numb face.
"Don't look back in anger", "live forever", "Don't go away".... actually bro you can just pick any song or theirs and it is worth reviewing.
