    was literally just planning to ignore my mental hunger (because I just had my evening snack and i'm not supposed to feel hungry or eat anymore) but then I refreshed my UA-cam page and this video pops up. I swear, your videos are a constant reminder for me to not give into my disordered thoughts and to focus on recovery. Thank you so much

    Thank you for reminding us that unrestricted eating is forever. That unconditional permission to nourish ourselves and always take care of ourselves. Just this morning, I faced a fear food. It took me an hour of thoughts but I just had to do it. Thank you for being a support and for keeping the message clear when the world is set up to distract us and keep us roped into a life of hell with an eating disorder.

    I can so relate to the comment below. I'm in recovery less than half a year, I'm gaining weight drastically. So every morning I literally wait for your new video to drive and support me through another day in eating without restrictions and accepting my new body. Your short answers to somebody's question is making my day, like really! Your manner of speaking is so reassuring that I can do it! Thanks a lot for this huge support you're giving me!

    I have been a long term sufferer of anorexia .... I get my period every 28 days without fail. My periods only stopped when I was at deaths door bmi 11. My periods came back whilst still at an extremely dangerously low weight. I am now well into the "healthy" range but I still know for me my unsupressed body weight is higher than it is currently even though I don't "look" underweight so I continue to try and seek the healthy size for me (no one else just me) ... anyway what I am trying to say is periods don't tell the whole story there is so much more to it. They are a very small part of the whole picture. I am now a lot heavier than when I got my periods back yet still feel the cold, get blue hands, obsess over food, have daily anorexic thoughts etc etc .... the list goes on. You can be still really poorly but have periods. Hope this helps anyone who has their periods return and are panicking that they should therefore be "better"

      Yes, and not everyone loses their periods at a low weight. So that's important to note

      Same here! I am at a low weight, both for me personally and according to the BMI scale but I still have periods. It does make recovery harder I feel because a key part of my recovery as a teen was wanting to get my period back, but this time they never went so I don't feel like I have a true reason to eat unrestricted. They are extremely light and extremely painful though, and this is definitely linked to having a low body weight as I don't have this problem at a healthy weight, and there is scientific research to suggest low BMI is correlated with severe period pain.

    Thank you for this, I wholeheartedly agree. I just had to chime in because this issue gets me so frustrated. I broke down and sought help during a relapse about 5 years ago when my weight was dipping below 14 bmi, and the doctor told me that since I was still getting a period that my body was "ok" at this weight. I was advised to keep an eye on it and try to not lose more, no talk of gaining. Granted this wasn't an ED specialist, but really?! Sorry to use bmi, I think it's nonsense but just to prove a point that NO it was not "ok". I have a very determined body (thank goodness), and the only time I ever lost mine was after being "weight restored" briefly in my 20s.
    Anyhow, yeah you can't go by just that because everyone's body acts differently! Please keep at it and don't give up, that's your ED trying to save itself - DO NOT negotiate with it. Go all in, give your body what it wants and don't stop until you rewire and your mind snaps out of it. Yes it absolutely sucks some days. But the more fully you commit, the faster you'll get recovery done and get on with your life. You can do it!

    Tabi is literally always saying the same 5 things, just in a little different way and we desperate people out here with those annoying eating disorders just NEED it sooo bad to hear someone saying out loud what we hope for so strongly to be true😫😂

    i’ve been in recovery and lately i’ve been feeling so hungry, after dinner i notice i’m full but my mind tells me i’m still very hungry, so after an hour or something i eat again, like porridge e.g. but i’m still starving, when i get more food i’m starting to feel uncomfortable cause my body isn’t used to eating so much but i don’t know what to do :( how long is this going to last? and how much do i have to eat? i go to bed and wake up extremely hungry

    Listening to this one again... I still eat painfully slow. I try to eat faster when I'm "more hungry" than usual. I still make it a point to eat enough or a little more than enough even if it takes an hour! I have a small mouth lol. I wish I could eat fast and am working on it.

    Our dietician told us that we cannot gain on a small meal plan which scared the living daylights out of me. I am on a 1500 cal meal plan and gaining and I am scared to eat more

      Your metabolism will heal eventually when you eat more, don't worry.

    So the more food we eat the higher the metabolism is?

    • @xMyLovelyBonesx
      @xMyLovelyBonesx 5 років тому +4

      Besides the loss of weight, being malnourished (even mildly so) for an extended period of time will make your metabolism slow down because your body then begins to think there must be a foot shortage and that it needs to conserve energy. That's why so many people with EDs feel cold all the time because even if they aren't underweight their metabolisms have slowed down (keeping your body warm takes energy after all). Once you stop restricting and trying to ignore your body cues, things will return to normal as your body realizes that it no longer in danger of starving and does not need to try to use less energy.
      I think that the optimal relationship to have between food and our bodies would be to eat when we are hungry (physically or mentally) and just maintain whatever body weight & shape that doesn't hold you back allowing to you to get out and enjoy experiencing life :)
