This guy hosts some of the best tutorials I've seen. He does not speak a single word of bullshit, everything makes total sense, and he knows exactly what you want to hear in terms of A/B'ing throughout the progress of the sound. It's always great to watch a pro tweak a sound out of the rough into perfection - even better when they're so good at communicating their every move

This dude is the real deal. There are so many mixing engineers on UA-cam, who have no idea what they're doing. But this guy is experienced, you can tell by his workflow. I would recommend anyone rewatch this video and take notes.

I disagree. I don’t like the reverb and I can’t hear the snare on the 2 or 4. The snare is also too high pitched for my taste.

Love watching how he tweaks the plugins and seeks for the EQ spot by boosting and then adjusting once he finds the spot. So easy to understand his thinking. Agree. No BS. Just Tony being Tony and adding small layers of goodness like a good audio artisan!

What I find interesting here is what separates the amateurs from the pros. This guy does a superb job fine tuning the sound. If you listen to the samples with and without the filters, to a layman both would sound virtually the same. But it takes a musician like me (and people w/ good ears) and a super pro like him to hear the difference. He doesn't really do much to the sound. Just tweaks it ever so slightly to remove the bass's tendency to cover up everything else. He also fines tunes it so that it sounds clear and sharp rather than muddied in the background. By making it clearer, the voice (at the end) punches through. This guy is a genius.

The man talks a lot about energy. He has an attitude towards how it should sound. But basically it is about taste and pleasure.

Wonderfully high quality sound and great demonstration of how each element affects things. Also sad to hear that excellent bass line gradually cut down and buried under a lot of less musically interesting distractions.

Those awesome drums remind me of Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction. Same kind of snap and clarity, same goes for the bass.

Nice and useful. However there's a short and annoyingly sharp mid range percussive sound in the second mix, which makes it hard to focus on the bass sound.

"Lets throw a bunch of stuff on the bass and then try to sort it out and make sense at the end with some "sonic additions" on our "sonic pallet" like maybe some "airy fur". That'll certainly bring more energy to the track. (removes glasses and stares into camera) (Puts glasses back on) now let's mess with the "dramatic quality" shall we"

as a true bass player for one thing its all ready a distorted sound.so any more of that wont sound right..i would have just told them to play the bass over again...so in other words that bass track is no good to began with...remember you cant fix that sound with plugins...rerecord it start with a clean sound.this only applies too the first bass sound
