Hello, what a great job you do! I am a young beginner of 63 years old and each of your tutorials are both demonstrative of the pluggin concerned but also extremely educational on how to work and understand a mix. I drink every word and knowledge you give us. And even if, French, I only have an average command of Lennon's language, you are one of the few that I understand without too much difficulty, the best of the best, the cherry on the cake, would be for you to slow down your speech very slightly. voice rate, just a little bit, so that it is perfect for non-English speakers like me. But once again, you do a great , great job. Thanks thanks thanks ! 👍😃
Only nine minutes in and I've learned a great deal! I love this plug-in and I've used it a quite a bit on some terrific mixes, if I do say so, myself. Only because this plug-in has about 74 JILLION presets! Now I feel confident I can make the moves knowing what does what. Thank you for sharing.
For some reason the SSL EV2 is the first SSL strip that I REALLY liked. I do love the brown knobs, particularly with the change from -18db slope to -12db slope on the filter. I also love the UI color improvements in this one compared to the previous SSL channels. It's a small difference but it's just easier on the eyes, with a little more color on the knobs.
Best yet for sure.. now I know how to use it... Much much appreciated 🎶🎵🎶👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🎶🎵🎶 I love the way this sounds... Now I have to mix all my songs over... Lol
Thank you sir! Great tutorialI! I picked up this CS and it is Solid! , awesome GUI and mostly sound quality!! Took me by surprise vs other owned version! Cheers!
Something money can't buy. That is this man's accent. I love it. I could listen to his voice and he could even be talking about selling a 5oz can of shit. And I would say " ,,,,,hmmm ya, I think I DO want to go buy a 5oz can of shit ". lol. Love his voice, and I love this plugin. If you don't have it...GET IT. It's a must. Great video my friend and great voice!!
The 20db pad comes before both gain knobs in chain so adding 20db of input to add saturation and turning on the 20db pad get you back to the beginning where you started, all the harmonics are where they were before. The procedure should be to lower the output and then the preamp saturation stays, however it brings aliasing as the plugin does not oversample in 2022. for some strange reason.
Hi. Thank you for this fantastic video. I`m not able to open/find the preset browser. I can see all the presets but the browser will help to speed up the searches. Can you help? Thank you
I'm listening to this on my Samsung S8 phone. Wow. I will never use the wider! As soon as the button was engaged it completely killed the guitar. It made it sound like it was phasing and wobbly like it is under water... maybe it's just UA-cam but if you're going to try the widener, I strongly suggest you test your mixes on a phone.
BTW, I know that this plugin is much, much more than what I am trying to do with it but, is it possible to use this plugin like a channel trim, too? I am asking this because it seems that it's not possible.
Dan I have a silly question maybe maybe not have you thought about using this EV2 plug-in inside CLA MixHub empty slot?? would that be too much. or would it actually work and we would get the best of both worlds CLA MixHub is his SSL desk modeled
Most young engineers do not understand, the incredible importance of, critical gain staging. That's where the magic really lies. To keep the punch and to keep the snap and the zing. Intact. Without getting all bloated sounding or topping out. And it's a fine give and take. A little here a little there. It was even more important in the actual, SSL consoles. As their internal circuitry was largely, integrated circuit chip, VCA's and dozens of, FET transistor switches. And where one day. Bob Clearmountain tells me. He hated API consoles. Because he could never get his sound. And I perfectly understand. The API's are just too clean. They don't have the grunge. You get with an SSL. And he needs that grunge. To get his sound. And that requires SSL 4000 E. And Apogee Converters. Since his wife, owns that company. And so Bob records on Neve and mixes on SSL. And occasionally uses a, single-channel, Apogee, converter. On his MacBook Pro and ProTools. And tells me he likes that Apogee MIC preamp. In that earliest unit they no longer make. And doesn't like the newer one as much. And I was like saying… Bob. What are you saying about your wife's company? Two that he gives me a wry smile. And says I know but… I like the earliest one best. Which I found very funny. And unfortunately. No drivers for Windows machines. For those smaller one and two input converters. Go figure? I don't do Mac. Sure they work and are more costly. I don't care for the snob factor. I'm not into that nonsense. Some of us are actual real engineers. We design build and maintain things. And record. RemyRAD
thanks for the detailed information, very good video. But tell me why such a big load on the processor when the EQ block is activated? it is not possible to work even with one plug-in, the sound is immediately distorted and the image slows down. load more than 25%. if the EQ unit is turned off then the load is about 4%
Running cubase 11 pro on with 16 gigs ddr4. I can run multiple instances along with a bunch of other plugs with no drop. Just saying with the right setup it's a dream to work with. Amazing results my friend
@@doxworxmusic6569 i have laptop on processor 3.15 GHz, 8 ram, 500 gb ssd and scarlet 18i20 usb with DAW Reaper. It's so problematic to work with this plugin. before, when using other plugins, no problems arose, it was possible to work with 25-40 tracks without problems.
This plugin has way higher latency in samples. When mixing just make your sample buffer higher - this should give some slack on the CPU. But I would not choose this plugin for realtime / live recording of the same reasons you mentioned.
@@tadask.4931 Good advice, I would use the classic channel if you really need live mixing and then swtich to higher latency and use the new channel afterward. Less critical tracks maybe just stay with the older channel. It doesn't sound any worse than before, after all!
It certainly is not. Are you saying this because the red clipping light was on? Cause it reacts to transients. If you listen to the audio, it isn't clipping. Moreover, if you use analog gear, or an analog emulation like this, some clipping is actually good. This isn't digital clipping which gets nasty, but analog clipping which acts like a saturator. That's usually the thing that drives people to use analog in the first place
One is a line input, the other is a mic input, which have different effects. The idea is you push the the gain into the audio ceiling to produce desired saturation and some dynamic range reduction, then the -20 db button to bring the audio back down for gain staging purposes.
Two different channel strips. It's a matter of flavor. The big difference in Scheps Omni is that you can slot in any other Waves plugin in the chain and you can't in the SSL.
Well, let's be honest, it's more like 70-80% less CPU usage would be helpful 🤣🤣 I mean it sounds great but, i don't have a crappy System but when i use it on more than a few tracks it crashes the whole system. The same with mixhub, but there you've got the lite version and the sound and workflow stays ssl like. It's a great plugin as well, but still i prefer the brainworx console emulations, they're spot on and i can use it on a whole project if i want to, so my thumbs up still goes out to #pluginalliance and #brainworx 👍
This is how every body should be doing tutorials on plugins; with f***king real examples. Kudos.
This feels so easy and simple when watching vs when you actually mixing it :D Great tutorial.
This is the most detailed and informative SSL video I've come across! Thank you Dan :)

Incredible video! Saved me weeks worth of research. You covered it ALL.
Nice work Dan - really efficient, comprehensive, easy to follow presentation!
I love that there wasn’t a history lesson on the SSL and yadayada. Didn’t waste time. 👍
The best explained usage of the new SSL EV2 waves plugin.
Excellent rapid-without-rushing tutorial... thank you very much!

I think the Waves 4k E plugin is cute. But to each their own!

Absolutely love this new EV 2 plug.
And thanks Dan for the Vids.

Easy to follow, and I learned some new things. Thank you!

Ah thanks a lot for this explanation! I was wondering about those weird buttons, what they actually mean :)
thank you very much sir :)
Wow! 😲

CPU Killer :D
Need.G.V.2. :-) great Plugin, the ne Version
I wonder whether this is sufficiently different to the first Waves SSL for it to be sensible to buy this, if I already basically have it.
Why is your line channel exactly the same as mic channel?

Why does the extra wide mode sound so comb-filtered? It's not pleasant.
I really like the eq solo/listen feature, does anyone know any other analog eq plugins with this feature?

Yea i just got mixhub. Now im wishing i woulda just got this. Dangit.

any discounts for ppl who already purchased the ssl bundle prior to this coming out?
If you owned the bundle before this release, you should be able to get it for free
You get it free on Black Friday. But I’m not sure if the offer ends or not.
Is this for vocals or mixing beats or instrumentals?
Everything

I understand.
can someone explain why this plugin has so many useless knobs like why do u need 2 input gains and an extra -20 db button if they all do the same
One is a line input, the other is a mic input, which have different effects. The idea is you push the the gain into the audio ceiling to produce desired saturation and some dynamic range reduction, then the -20 db button to bring the audio back down for gain staging purposes.

Compared to Omni Channel, what can this do that Omni Channel can't vice versa?
Two different channel strips. It's a matter of flavor. The big difference in Scheps Omni is that you can slot in any other Waves plugin in the chain and you can't in the SSL.
