I once played Devil's Crush on the Turbo Grafx 16 for 2 or 3 hours straight. Was probably my favorite Pinball gaming moment ever. :P
+DreamcastGuy If you can get the max score in that game you get a sweet ending cut scene. Freaked out some of my more conservative neighbors by playing that on the porch on Halloween with the music cranked up. Trick or Treaters got a kick out of it though.
I beat Street Fighter 2 on 7 stars with Zangief. No losses! Special ending! In the 90s. I still tell the story to all my friends as if i was the first man on Mars.
That is damn impressive. Rep that spinning pile driver
Thanks! Yeah, pile driver, lots of grappling and heavy punches. Alos medium kick, that one was a lifesaver. Took me about 2 months.
+StarReel Did that with Ken on 8 stars, but with Zangief WOW. That is impressive.
Windjammers is just so good.
+noisyturtle King of the Monsters 2!
1:58 Ian's expression throughout Pat's Wind Jammer dominance story lol
I member Aladdin's Castle back when it was open had the 6 player X-men game. I started off playing alone drawing a slight crowd, then someone joined and slowly it followed suit until all 6 of us were playing. We drew an even bigger crowd finally getting to Magneto and finishing him off. We all went crazy and everyone was just losing their shit. Its moments like that which I miss the most, but what a rush it was.
+Tokaiden
I had a Aladdin's Castle in my area back when I was a kid. We had a an arcade birthday party for my brother there. Oh the memories.
I one quartered the shooter arcade game Area 51 while on summer vacation in southern British Columbia.
Cool story bro. I'm from B.C! Who doesent love that game? I could never beat it on a single token though. I usually die a lot when the guys keep coming down on the ropes whilst shooting. Isn't there a UFO at the ending that you have to pump a shit ton of ammo into? My finger always cramped up.
+Tyrell Scott Game is awesome played it myself on ps1 but it's kinda easy in my opinion
Windjammers is just an awesome game :)
"This could be a drug story but ill just leave that out"
Gotta love Ian. These podcast clips are great, keep up the awesome work!
Pat is going to buy himself a championship belt now for his new found powers.
I reset the score on Asteroids for the 2600. It took about an hour and a half.
been there m8
I eventually managed to beat Metroid Fusion in under 2 hours playtime 100% items and got the best possible ending. There were a couple of pinballs I used to play at a Pizza Hut where I would put in 1 quarter and just go for 25 to 30 min until the pizzas arrived.
Looking back it wasn't that difficult but I was proud of myself when I beat Tetris Mode B for Gameboy on the highest settings and got the shuttle launch.
JP was a great pinball game. I still remember the "Ian Freeze! Ball Frozen!" audio bits. My own best run was on Doctor Who pinball. Great machine (when the center column is working) and it was one of the first pinball games where I "got it" in terms of the rule set and felt like I had a modicum of control in what was happening with the ball.
Loved Windjammers!
I beat Metroid: Zero Mission in about 1hr 50min. I also completed DK 64 101%.....twice
The computer opponents in Windjammers can be so brutal. It was so satisfying when I finally beat the game on my MVS machine.
Jurassic Park Pinball was one of the best.
Was a kid when Virtua Fighter 3 came out, but managed to beat a bunch of adults for about 30 minutes straight on 1 credit.(in the arcade)
My best run was in an arcade in the 90's. I beat over 50 people in a row in Mortal Kombat 2. I didn't know this at the time but after you get 50 wins consecutively, you get transported to "another dimension" where you play a game of pong against your opponent. Everyone in the arcade crowded around the machine and cheered us on. It was insane.
Data East/Sega pinball machines seemed to be so good for introducing new or inexperienced players to a modern DMD ruleset. I had a similar experience with the Hook pinball machine.
R-Type is my favourite too!
I had a single run of marathon on Tetris Worlds for 1:58:00. Think i only blinked twice lol
Bushido Blade, had about a 80 win run against a group of buddies before they made me hand off the controller and retire for the night, lol.
Windjammers is my favourite arcade game of all time! Closely followed by Juno first
I had a crazy run when I was around 13 years old. I beat Castlevania without losing a life. Proudest moment of my gaming history.
Wind Jammers is awesome. had it at my local 7-11
One of my best runs was on the Terminator 2 pinball machine, pinballs coming out the whazoo when I successfully hit the helicopter twice in a row. Another time was MKII in the arcade, I went on a crazy streak with Sub Zero.
Was playing the T3 pinball machine as the final game of a tied match (2-2, best of 5) at a pinball tournament this past weekend. Came down to ball 3, I was down 120 million to 15 million (huge score on T3). Put the come back together and ended up pulling out a win. No extra balls in tournament either, so it was all one legitimate ball. Certainly stands as one of my best competition moments.
If you like "Windjammers", try "Sanrio World Smash Ball!". It's very similar.
If you can get past the Hello Kitty branding (which isn't even that heavy anyway), it's a lot of fun. There's a fan patch out there if you just want to play it, but there isn't much Japanese text in it and you can get it for like $5 on eBay. It's a great game to start a Super Famicom collection with.
+TBustah I agree, it's actually a really good game.
Yie Ar Kung Fu... I was eleven years old and got all the way to Blues. there were people crowded around the machine watching. loved that feeling.
Pat sure was on fire today. As for my accomplishments i can't say there has been anything i thought that has been particularly note worthy but i remember me and my friend working together to 100% Crash Team Racing (story mode) in our teenager years that sure wasn't easy and also beating DMC 2 on Dante must die mode was very satisfying to beat although didn't beat it in the time limit to unlock something additional i don't know what it was meant to be or if it was even true.
Budweiser Tapper over 800,000 points, over an hour on one quarter. That's my most memorable run.
I played Shaq Fu without vomiting in my mouth- does that count?
+Lock Jaw should count for something, should at least get a cookie for it.
POINT PLEASANT NJ, I Live there right now..
+Grcho420 Do they still have skeeball on the boardwalk?
+James Carson yea more than ever actually. since hurricane sandy destroyed all their arcades, they have a larger focus on attractions like skii ball
lol 2:25 to 2:35 just look at pats face you can tell his mind was going all over the place from his comment.
pat takes a drink of water then it's like he's contimplating like "Did someone poison my water oh crap".
my run... Goldeneye (N64), now granted this was amongst my friend base at the time (no online obviously), I went on a 2 1/2 year run of never losing. This included all types of game setups/maps and included 1v1, 1v2, and 1v3.
Last year at the retro game experience in Holland I managed to beat everyone without losing a single round on MK2 in the arcade section. One of these People I beat was the owner of the cabinet. That was very funny!
Craziest I ever had was Star Wars pinball up in the Poconos as a kid. I dunno what the hell happened but I just kept racking up score & extra balls to the point where I think I eventually just had to leave the game because I had to go back for dinner.
I had to have my 2 1/2 year younger bro beat tough levels for me occasionally. Felt great!
I'm considering Neo Geo just to get Windjammer.
I have the Windjammers cart for my Neo Geo Cabinet :D
I love windjammers, great game I wish they would rerelease it
Oh man. Geometry wars is where all my memories come from. Getting 3 million in evolved was tough as nails. Pacifism mode was so fun in later games. I don't claim to be pro or anything in fact I think a great score would be around 5 or 10 million but it's good for me and I've always been proud of it. Anyone else care to brag a bit ?
Wow, cool! Thanks for answering my questions, guys!
i beat the arcade vertical shmup viper when i was a teenager without dying once. solo style of course.
The best run that I have ever been involved in is TMNT Turtles in Time the arcade version me and my brother and this one person we got to the Pirate Ship stage and we thought we were going to complete it and we ran out of money or tokens. But what a great run though. The best run that I have ever heard is my Brother in law and his brother or friend I forget which they beat Contra on NES with out the 30 lives code and only dying once or twice. My best run would be playing Simons Quest on NES and being able to collect every item and getting the best ending (the Red sky ending) without getting a Game Over Screen. My Cousin beating the Grim Reaper in the original CV when my other cousins could not (his brothers).
Clicked this video b/c i saw windjammers in the thumbnail! this game is the hugest hidden arcade gems ever.
My brother and our friend went to the arcade that used to be in State College in the early 2000's. Played a bunch of random games, I was in the pinball playing mood but wasn't doing that great. We left to go walk around a bit and they had to use the bathroom so we stopped in at this pizza place. Guy happened to have the Guns n Roses Pinball machine which I had heard about as a kid as my sister was a big GnR fan, but I'd never seen it. Popped a quarter in, started playing. They got out of the bathroom and it was close to half an hour later and I was still on my first ball and had broken into the high scores. Ended up just walking away as there was nothing else for them to do but watch me play and the game wasn't overly fun either, imo.
Never got into pinball enough to know what were easier/harder games, so maybe that one was notoriously easy and I didn't know. Still, it was cool to just walk away from a high score run.
910,000 points on duck hunt.
There is a new code out there for the Data East Star Wars pin where you can't rape that ramp for insurmountable points.
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Not a single knock down all the way up to - and defeated Mike. It's all in the rhythm.
i beat a pro smite team at smite before, a few times actually. solo queuing with randoms every time.
I one quartered street fighter x xmen! At that time I was super excited!
Every time I try to think of an epic player vs player run at a video game it's immediately underwritten by the fact that i'm only incredibly good at twitchy/reflex games, not fighters. So basically, I used to be undefeatable at guitar hero at one point, but.. playing songs in a 5 button plastic guitar thing.. ehh..
Other than that, I guess I'd say the first time I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 without using a continue, I was pretty proud of myself. Now it doesn't seem as impressive to me but at the time I was like "Oh yeah, gamer acheivement unlocked"
2:03 Evil Pat is evil.
I beat The Simpsons Aracade game on a single quarter at a Miami Subs.
Whoo! R-Type!
my greatest video game run was Galaga for the Atari 7800... I got 5 million points.
Ninja Gaiden Xbox. No damage Master Ninja'd the whole game....but it was at Game Crazy store and not my house. -_-
pat, you should have a street fighter all nighter to play sf4 with your fans!
History teacher bought the class a super nintendo with SF2...I would go weeks without a loss to the point to where the class would complain every time I got on...and when they would eventually get one on me...there was mad shit talk floating my way...great times
Don't worry Pat, Tommy killed my childhood dream too when he married Pamela Anderson. I'll always my fond memories of Baywatch though.
There was SNK vs Capcom arcade game in a NEO GEO cabinet not sure which one but I believe it was a bootleg or a hack cause I was able to play as Firebrand. Needless to say I did beat all challengers with a record of about 10-0. In Marvel vs Capcom 2, I made an older player let's say early 20s rage quit when he thought he could beat me with Strider by spamming the fireball motion move all day. All I had to do to beat this person was do a few jumps to set up a air combo into a team super for the win. This guy gave me the death stare as if he wanted to beat me up for real than walked away.....
Pat has a competitive dark side: Confirmed
My longest time play any game is like a day straight trying to beat some Digimon rpg, too bad for me I didn't have a memory card since I was pretty much used to the Snes and N64 not needing any, and add in the system overheating as well.
i beat battletoads without using a continue or warps
and i can do it regularly
GroovinFunk it's really not that hard, i'll do a run through on my other channel and link it here, but you'll have to wait a bit
I did 95,000,000 on Spiderman FX2 Pinball
+Pat the NES Punk 1v1 me on Windjammers in Fightcade!
(jk love the show btw!)
I can beat Super Mario World on SNES without losing any lives, and not using Star World/Warp. Does that count?
+GuerilleroX No, I've never been able to 100% the game without dying a few times. I'm just saying, I can get to Bowser's castle & beat the game without dying, and without using the Star Worlds "shortcut".
I think my best run was a 52 win streak on Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 2. I lost on purpose because I had to piss. It was nice to have 2.5 hours of game time paid for with $.50 though.
I beat super metroid with a 1% completion. with out any milk
I was about 10 and had to go to the laundry mat with my mom because the washer broke. I had a run on an old Fireball pinball machine. I had 35 free balls before my mom made me leave. Not sure how I did it.
I am so bad at games I only got 14.4k on the Asteroids arcade machine :(
I once 100% Zelda: LttP without a game over or saving. Seeing that 000 was sweet. Actually not super hard to do when you've owned the game since it came out and beaten it dozens of times. I also recently beat Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin...and died a shit ton. Still awesome to beat tho
pat there's a complete licenced sence of nes games on ebay for 21,500 dollars, plz discuss
Pinballllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAO beating normal boots at any game... doesn't mean anything
Which character did you use In Street Fighter, Pat?
Ian, when you say "this could be a drug story" at 3:48 I pray that you dosed up on some L before doing that run on R-Type. Can confirm?
ooh a rough month for Ian doesn't sound good
i got 95 on flappy bird.. does that count?
#Windjammersisabigwin
Ian's always has to ruins someones happiness...
So Ian is the dock ellis of R type. Good to know. legit LSD is so hard to find i jumped on a chance to buy a sheet for 800 dollars dont judge me it will last my gf and i our lifetime at 2 hits a year.
Who's the babe on Ian's shirt?
first
Pat man, I love you but you are so self-centered sometimes.
