      Dealerships dont typically clean like this. The service bays would be filled with smoke, which this video conveniently does not show. Did they explictly state 'Walnut Blasting' or Mechanical cleaning? Otherwise, its probably just some additive they added to the gas tank.

    This sounds similar to the CRC product. I have used the CRC product in my GDI engine and I was impressed with how well the engine ran after application. The downside is that it is a two-person job like this one. I have used the Berryman product twice now which just hooks into the throttle body intake and dispenses while the engine idles. Not clear which is better, but the last time I used the Berryman I got a glorious cloud of smoke after I went for the post-application drive. The person behind me was probably not happy.

    • @TheGumoutChannel
      @TheGumoutChannel  10 місяців тому +1

      Gumout Foaming Intake Valve & Turbo cleaner is a more aggressive cleaner than Gumout Carb/Choke Cleaner. Made with CarbonClear, the most advanced P.E.A. cleaning agent available, Gumout Foaming Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner is strong enough to cut through thick carbon deposits, even at extreme engine temperatures. The foam also helps with atomization, as well as, dispersal throughout the intake, while minimizing the risk of hydrolocking.
      Gumout Jet Spray Carb/Choke & Parts cleaner has a powerful jet spray that is designed to blasting away gum, varnish, carbon, oil, grease and dirt deposits from the inside and outside of the carburetor or any other unpainted metal part.

Some vehicles are kinda finicky and may even run a little rough until all of the stuff is gone from the air intake. Take it easy on it until then. If you are in a place with a speed limit of 25 or 35 that may be low enough for you to give it a good chance to get back to normal.

    • @TheGumoutChannel

      Correct, turbos do have an advantage because they are boosting air into the combustion chambers but as the turbo becomes dirty its performance is diminished. Combine the diminished turbo effectiveness, with carbon build up on GDI intake valves along with dirty injectors and you’re not getting the MPG or performance your car is able to deliver. Clean air and fuel in = better performance and MPG out.

    Adding anything to your gas tank of a direct injection vehicle will not and can not clean your turbo or valves clean since in direct injection vehicles, fuel get injected into the cylinder directly. It could clean the piston rings clean but not much else. Spraying this into the air intake could/should work though.

    • @TheGumoutChannel
      @TheGumoutChannel  7 місяців тому

      You are correct, a fuel additive added to the gas tank will not clean intake valves or turbos. However, a pour in does reduce the amount of buildup on the valves because, as you mentioned, it cleans the rings and combustion chambers which reduces blow by. Also, don’t discount the cleaning a pour in additive with CarbonClear (has PEA) does to GDI injectors which tend to have more buildup on them than PFI Injectors.

  • @skilledshots7200
    @skilledshots7200 8 місяців тому

    The gum out "all in one" after to maintain is senseless for direct injection. He admitted it in the video, fuel sprays directly into the cylinder, not over the valves. Hence, the use of the foaming spray to clean the valves...this is what happens when you hire somebody to read cue cards instead of an actual mechanic

    • @TheGumoutChannel
      @TheGumoutChannel  8 місяців тому +7

      You’re only half right, an Intake Valve Cleaner, unfortunately, does not clean GDI injectors. GDI injectors tend to have more stubborn carbon built up on them than PFI injectors. This is because GDI injectors are inside the combustion chamber. For lack of a better description, the carbon bakes on GDI injectors because of combustion. Over time, this carbon disrupts the spray pattern reducing GDI injector performance. Adding a Gumout Fuel System Cleaner with PEA based CarbonClear after using the Foaming Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner will clean the injectors which helps maintain the crankcase. Our video from the Oil Geek, Fuel is the ENEMY of your Engine! explains this: ua-cam.com/video/1V1WMAJllgc/v-deo.html&t - unburned fuel causes blowby which increases carbon build up on the intake valves. If you haven’t checked out The Motor Oil Geek’s channel you should, we guarantee you’ll learn a lot: www.youtube.com/@themotoroilgeek
      Sadly, where you are correct, using a fuel system cleaner won’t stop, again it only slows, carbon from building up on the intake valves which is why we recommend using Gumout Foaming Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner annually.

    I wanna see this work on the 80K mile carbon build up. This process also seems like a giant PITA. Don't buy DI cars people. DI is for Diesels.

    Il just rather stick with fuel injected engines.

      Port Fuel Injected (PFI) engines do make keeping the intake valves clean a lot easier. Just using a Gumout Complete Fuel System Cleaner on PFI engines will ensure your injectors, intake valves, combustion chambers, and piston rings are cleaned. Our CarbonClear cleaning agent has also been proven to maintain O2 sensor and catalytic converter performance. Direct injected engines (GDI) do make maintaining performance more difficult because fuel is no longer sprayed over the intake valves, which is why this service is needed as well.
