@ Ken....Don't do very well when it's hot outside either! A/C can drain an EV battery very quickly when the temps get really warm. Couple in TX bought a TESLA (?) Went to see a pen-pal of mine who does real estate. Wife stayed in the car. Husband apologized that THEY could not stay long because the EV battery was dropping like a rock. Can get very HOT in TEXAS and also VERY COLD. If You don't have charging stations for an EV, You might be calling AAA or somebody else for a tow?

There will be lines around the block waiting to charge your car at a super charger. Electric bills are going to go through the roof if you can charge at home. It is now being shown and awareness is growing that towing heavy loads and use of EV's do not mix. The range of the loaded EV is about 20% of the expected range without loads, which even at 100% is not competitive with stops for diesel fuel, necessitating lots more downtime getting to destinations, and time lost is money. The drivers are going to get paid for just sitting there getting recharges, on top of the miles they drive. Totally impractical, and that's why even Musk knows that electric trucks won't fly, and why there's been really no progress in bringing one to market.
I laughed when I saw somebody's post in this thread suggesting that truckers could just recharge while they wait to be unloaded/loaded. You have to get to the dock first, long before you would use a recharger at a warehouse while material handlers inside unload/load you. Plus, if the warehouse needs 200 chargers for the 200 doors on their dock, who pays for that? And space is an issue here, too ..... because trucks need lots of area to back the vehicle into the dock. There would be so many charging stations getting accidentally knocked down, and angry truckers who need to take far longer to back into a door to avoid such an accident, we would have an even greater exodus of drivers than we do now.

And, without fossil fuels, the materials needed to manufacture these "electric" vehicles would not be available. And, the pollution caused by the production of these special materials, will far exceed the pollution caused by internal combustion engines and industrial electric production to process said materials. "As Fred said" "why do they call it common sense, when it is so uncommon"......

That seems to be a point the EV dogs don't talk about. Plastics, synthetics, and other materials derived from refined crude oil are used in vehicles, as you say. Has anyone approached Brandon with this tinny tiny point?
Another point the EV dogs haven't considered. Where do the raw materials needed for EV batteries originate? The chemical components aren't found in the United States, but are imported. What happens if the suppliers decide they don't want to sell their material? Or increase the price of that material? What if they use that material to force Countries to do what they want or those Countries won't get the needed material for EV batteries?

@FireEscape I admit that EVs have a poor range. There is a a disadvantage to every vehicle type even Hydro, hybrid, etc. But this doesn't mean they are inferior. Perhaps we need to extend and make more redundant current generation and storage infrastructure to make EVs viable in WY ?

Anderson is right. I live in Oregon and we've done nothing but hamstring ourselves as far as energy is concerned. We will be dependent on other states for energy.

No need to ban the vehicles but just to not subsidise the infrastructure using taxpayer dollars. The state doesn’t pay to build petrol stations so why should they pay to build charging stations?
