Even if other available servants are stronger (Saber with her sheer firepower, and Gilgamesh with his sheer overpowered-ness XD), I still consider Archer as a best option in the game. He's badass, has great skills, and man, dat armor. Not that I dislike other servants, each is great in it's own right (both in terms of combat, and story-wise).
Well from the videos I've seen so far. Both Caster and Gil survived in the true ending. Caster survived due to her amaterasu origin (although taking significant damage) Gil...he is just a walking cheatcode (sorry King of heroes)

And seriously, would you want to make your love one worry about you? It still meant they perish, just like how servants return to the grail after they fall in battle.
Unless Caster was lying at the last moment of the true ending, she said the reset would not completely remove her because she was a "high-rank servant" and "the avatar of the sun could not be killeded by 'moon'cell", though it hurt a lot. She said she will look for MC when she can find a way out herself. Consider what she did in her servant ending, her survival the final blast is quite possible

I agree with what you are saying that Caster might just say that to comfort MC. But what I meant is that Caster is indeed special, she is the only one servant in extra being able to keep the memory of the last holy grail war. And regardless of the comedic factor, her being able to conquer the mooncell in her personal ending proved that she is indeed special (and powerful if she wants to)
Gil teleported him self and MC to the space where he were "sealed" by moon cell (the same place they meet at the begining of the story), and send MC back before gifting him/her new command seals. I take that he (while keeping his memories about the whole incident) went back to sleep afterwards.
