I break out in total laughter every single time I hear this. Charles Ives was one of a kind and it`s hard to believe that this piece is more than a hundred years old now. Long live his music.
Charles Ives helps people like me who live in other places to love the real America, even when we are appalled by other aspects of its international adventures. This is the goodness and cheek that is the best part of America.
Decoration Day, now known as Memorial Day, is a sacred day of honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country. I find it interesting that in the 150 years this important day has been celebrated there are only two classical pieces inspired by this event. This wonderful Ives piece is one of them.

Love seeing the 2nd conductor! Glorious chaos..... like our Country. Never more so than now (though not so sure about the "glorious").
So damn good!

This is a great comment, Stephen. Thanks! Ives' "Holidays Symphony" is indeed wonderful
2:42 :o I screamed
OH! but this is a marvelous performance. Charlie would have surely approved.
Thanks very much, Marc!
Wonderful performance. Would rather have seen more of the orchestra, but this could be a conducting instructional video, too.
Thanks for posting this!
