I’m Canadian, from rural Ontario. Every fall my dad would spend a week “deer hunting” with his buddies - mostly an excuse to get drunk and away from the hum-drum small town life. They were pretty far into Ontario’s enormous Algonquin Park. My dad’s big Citroën could take five of them anywhere a Jeep could. All was well until their departure from their hunt, whereupon they needed to back the Citroën down half a mile of single track. What should appear before (behind?) them as they reversed was an enormous bull moose, evidently disturbed at being woken from his afternoon nap. My dad stopped the car. Not a good idea. The moose started champing at the forest floor with his huge front hoofs. This is the universal signal for an imminent charge. Back into reverse went the Citroën. Snorting and shaking his antlers went the moose. My dad figured he’d set a speed record for driving one of those French cars in reverse. But male no mistake, he told me. That animal was not bluffing. So when you encounter something the bears run away from, you’d best not dilly-dally.

I bet you he did kill it
Thank you for sparing his life. He's just too majestic to die. Amazing encounter.
We shouldn't have to thank a person for not taking the life of another sentient individual. We shouldn't take the life from a another sentient individual. Why would we have that right?
@@PastaFazool4266 we should be thanking the bull for sparing the man’s life buddy not the other way around. That arrow would have done virtually nothing to the moose

@@d.rabbitwhite I agree.
I would not and probably could not have left that arrow go either...
What a magnificent beast but what is even more special is the eye to eye contact the two of you just had.
Letting him pass and breed another season was definitely the right thing to do.
The fact you had it on camera makes this a forever memory.
Never had an encounter that close with a trophy, but did have an encounter with a massive old whitetail doe one time and what was cool is I actually had the same encounter the following year with hers also where she came within 5 ft of my face.
Full ghillie suit but she knew I was there and came up and smelled me and looked me dead in the eyes.
I'm 55 and I was 15 and 16.
Sure wish that had been on camera.
But point is with something that I will never forget in a whole life.
That is a really really big guy!!!! 😮 I held my breath when he got really close to that gentleman!!! How AWESOME that is to have such a creature come out to say HI!!!😊
He didn't just say "hi". He gave a very clear message to the hunter who's in power there.
Most people are so denaturalized, they are no longer able to sense it, but even the video radiates a small glimpse of it.
Sorry.. he wasn't stupid enough to get "that close".. simply zoomed in closer with the camera!
Thank you for allowing this majestic being to live. 🤟🏻
Bro it's more like the other way around
Are you talking to the moose?
Indeed, the moose was very generous.
Don't know what's so majestic about the guy 😂

Respect 💯❣️
I live in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and every once in a while, you just recognize the majesty and dominance of certain animals. Whether they’re bears, cougars, moose, or elk, a true hunter can and must recognize the alpha male of the pack, and respect the honour their due!
*edited a typo only.
💯 % agree
I suppose you view yourself as an equal? But, you would turn down the fight out of "respect". The truth is, you are a coward. You only want to kill animals (and maybe people) who are "weaker" than you.
@MsK-xm7vw that's the thing, most hunters seen to want to kill the alpha male. The largest and more majestic creature then they off it.

Big bodied smaller antlered young bull better eating
honour *they're* due
There was actually a story recently about someone here in Colorado that tried to bow hunt a huge bull moose. He got mauled. Moose's have thick skin. Sometimes you just gotta say 'mmmm nope'
Almost all wild animals have thick skin, even something like a groundhog or raccoon. No skin on a north American snimal is stopping a cleanly shot arrow.
@@chrishayes5755 I do agree that if you have good aim, and a well prepared arrow you can down anything from a moose to a small ground squirrel. However, moose are objectively harder to down than a ground squirrel. Obviously. I was mostly referring to size and... determination when I said 'thick skin'.
Not even mentioning the fact that if you do miss, bull moose especially, are much more likely to become aggressive compared to something more skittish like a mule or white tail.
tl:dr, moose big, must have experience, and you're right.
bow hunting is stupid
@@VauxBat while I agree that there are better/more effective methods of hunting, when it's done well it can 100% be fun and safe. I prefer when people bowhunt smaller game (for efficiency), though. There are way too many stray arrows found in wildlife. It's a valuable skill and hobby once mastered.
It fed enough people to eventually allow someone to spawn your ass. I guess i agree...
