I am all in on Metaphor! At one point early in the presentation Katsura Hashino said that this was a culmination of the team's work on the Shin Megami and Persona games, and it definitely looks like a blend of elements from both series; its lineage is quite obvious. I'm loving the art style, that slick UI, and the hybrid battle system (which, if you think about it, is kinda what you could do in Mementos in P5R.) Flipping the fantasy perspective is intriguing, and I'm curious where the story will go. That Special Edition pre-order is seriously tempting, too! This was already on my most wanted list for this year, and now it's my number one!
You are by far the best channel to talk about the latest trailer and analyze it. It's truly a unique game. From what I know, the calendar system in the Persona games works in a creative way, making it unique even to this day. Mixing it with RPG elements and battles will truly make this game a masterpiece and give it its own structure among the strongest RPGs. It took the simulation elements to the next level, to the point where now I fear how Persona 6 could match this level of game design quality.

I’m loving the real time - turn based hybrid battle system. It’s an Atlus game so you know we’re gonna get a full package with this game. I can only imagine the final boss theme song.
At first, I was thinking about Atelier Marie when they speak about their traveling system which passes the day on your calendar, but I got a huge relief when they also said it will be a "free time mode" for you to play. If the travel was instantaneous, I'll riot lol
I was already hyped for this game but your breakdown got me even more hyped! I like they are adding in the ability to take out weaker enemies in an EarthBound'esque way.
All I'm gonna say is this was a very very fun showcase to watch with my friend yesterday and we are both very very stoked about this game now even more so than originally intended. Combat is completely a huge evolution over everything this team has done, The game's plot already screams interesting and entertaining and the fact that everyone can use all of these different archetypes and not be restricted to just the one archtypes that they have but the main character can use all of them really makes me go you see persona 3 through 5 this is how you do it. I am very excited for this game even more so now and while it's most likely gonna be $70 it's definitely worth the pricing this time. I'll watch the vod later on but great job Alex and nice surprise B day gift🎉🎉🎉🎉.
Wait what because all the team use archetype compare to persona where just the main character use multiple persona now this is better, first I am sure archetype is different then persona, and it not bad that only main character in persona that use multiple personas I actually loved it cuz I love for the main character to be unique, but for this game those archetypes are basically like job system so it makes sense for everyone to have multiple of them.
@@john_7000 I'm just happy that at least for once we're done with the let's have the main character of all the personas or whatever just to prove that they're special but everybody else only has the one meaning the customizability from persona 1 and 2 is completely gone.
Its nice to see the kiseki style of gameplay is breaking ground into other games because Active turnbased combat has the potential to be a big game changer
I can’t wait for this game. The combat looks very fun and well designed. I hope the time element of this game isn’t strict. Being timed out of quests Isn’t my favourite game mechanic.
all in for this game since it's been shown. I think Atlus implemented the melee combat and turn based-ish hybrid with Persona 5 Strikers. For Metaphor, it seems like they decided to make the player commit to turn based when they do choose to do so, instead of being able to flip back to melee like P5S. SO HYPED for this game! Thanks for this breakdown!
Strikers is a bit different in that you can indeed pause the action to activate Skills, but it drops you back to real-time combat. Both Metaphor and Trails through Daybreak have clear distinctions as to when you're in action and turn-based mode, with Metaphor putting more emphasis on how much of your party participates during combat.
So there is no press turn system like SMT where you’re rewarded with another turn for striking enemies weaknesses? I guess the incentive could be more damage dealt, but I loved the “1 more” system of persona/SMT.
Looking forward to this quite a lot, been following the development of this game for ages now, ever since its anicent, orignal announcement - I really hope they get the difficulty right! Persona 3 Reload, while gorgeous, realls disappointed me in how much easier than the original they made it. I need some challenge to really get into a game these days and I'm absolutely down for some Atlus quality.
Been looking forward to this for ages. But now I’m questioning whether I want to buy and play it day 1… as usual… or wait for the inevitable enhanced version that I usually skip. My life isn’t long enough to play these things twice!
All platform Persona, but with extra smacking-people-in-the-face, huh? I wonder if they'll do a demo of it. I'd like to see if I vibe with the characters and other gameplay elements, but I could possibly see myself wanting to play this. Fair amount of Scarlet Nexus vibes from it (in fact, at one point when looking at the timeline I thought you were showing a SN clip for comparison). Hope more RPGs try their hand at incorporating action or making more action-inclusive spinoffs.
