  • Today I start the Tractor Tech Tuesday series of videos.
They will continue every Tuesday till all 50 service is completed.
John Deere Premium Engine Oil PLUS-50 II
    SAE 15W-40 Part# TY26673
John Deere Oil Filter Part# M806418
John Deere 2-1/2-inch/65-mm-68mm Cap Style Filter Wrench - Part# TY26639
(I used 15W--40 viscosity oil as my tractor sits in a heated garage through the winter months)
You may want to use a lower viscosity for lower temps if yours sits out in the cold.

Hello Brian (Fellow New Yorker 👍🏼), Congrats on your new 1025r. It’s been a great tractor. I do all my own service maintenance. As you can see I’ve done some mods to make it even more user friendly for me. Now one thing I’ve noticed talking with other new 1025r owners is because you have a deck mower for your tractor your mounting bracket gong from your mower to your blower will be different than mine. So when you go to hang your quick attach for the blower you will notice it mounts differently than mine does and you will need to turn the wheels all the way to one side so the hitch clears the tie rod arm.. Just a FYI. Let me know when you get your tractor if I was right.. I’m interested. Take care

Got a 1025R this year - the service manual doesn't say anything about oil change at 50 hours - is this a new change, or does everyone keep changing oil at 50 hours regardless.

Hey Eric, Thanks for stopping by the channel to check out the video. I can’t speak for everyone else but for me 50 hrs or seasonal, depending how hard I’m working the tractor. Like last summer I was working the tractor in allot of dust moving numerous dirt piles I like to change the oil and filter more as it’s a diesel and the oil gets dirty IMO. To me It’s just cheap insurance to keep the oil clean. I know some scrutinize the amount time people change their fluids and how often. I for am not one that says man I went 200 hrs on that oil change with no issues. 😁😉 Take Care 👍🏼

I have the 1023, which is essentially the same tractor. I did change oil at 50hrs, but you are correct. It's not in the manual.

I have a 2023 1025R and apparently, according to the manual and sticker under the hood, they’ve bumped back the transmission fluid and filter /change back to 200 hrs and the engine oil and filter change to 400 hrs. Page 200-1 of my owner’s manual.
Seems excessive considering what comes out of the magnetic screen I’ve seen on some videos. Thoughts?

I always fill the new oil filter at least half full on a horizontal mount so the engine does not run without oil pressure as long. Vertical I will completely fill with oil.
