I've been using the tirtir ampoule and toner and they have been a game changer ❤ I'm currently pregnant and my face has been so dry - they helped so much
Those coloured sun sticks are such a good idea, I’d be much more likely to reapply if it felt like a makeup touch up. I don’t actually know how you’re supposed to reapply spf if you’re wearing makeup? I’ve heard the spf powder brushes are ineffective?! Also imagine the coloured ones as sun protection body art at festivals!
Aussie here, hearing you talk about zinc sticks was a surprise! Yeah, they’re really thick and not meant to be rubbed in or used all over-but they stay on for hours even with water/sweat. They’re usually put on where burn risk is highest, mainly along bridge of nose/cheekbones and lips. The colours are fun and popular for sports (since you can match the team) but you can’t use them at pools because the dye messes with the water. You’ll see them at every school sports day except for swimming since they’re banned, lol. They can also stain, especially the neon ones (I’ve been pink and it wasn’t the sun).
My mom made my brothers and I wear the thick sunscreen on our noses with regular sunscreen on the rest of our bodies. Doctor said my older brother was at risk of skin cancer so my parents always made us use that on our noses
@Chilakkuma I am sure it was Sun Zapper. The packaging has changed since I was a kid (late 80s early 90s), but they did green, yellow and pink, or the good old white. They were pretty cheap and the bright colours stained so bad haha. My towels were always covered in the stuff!
To be honest I like you and your brother’s accents. I could listen to you reading off terms and conditions because your voices are so soothing and your personalities are just adorable.
The zinc sticks were really popular for school sports carnivals in Australia because you could wear your team colours- all a part of our sun safe initiatives!
I got that glycolic avid stick and i have used it only a few times and I’ve already used a ton of it! Haven’t noticed any great exfoliation either. Id skip it imo
Australian here: yes, those sticks are a thing (or at least were when I was younger). I personally never used them outside of school. But in primary school and high school a lot of people would wear different coloured zinc sticks during swimming (and sometimes sports) carnivals. People would rep their house colour, use it as part of their costume, or wear it for fun. Straight up, I thought it was face paint for the longest time. When Michelle mentioned it as a way to get kids to wear sunscreen, it suddenly clicked. I'm not sure if random stripes or hearts would actually protect us from the sun. Re: Michelle's post-the hardcore sunscreen advocacy for millrnials and older gen Z was very real. No hat no play was brutal for some. In holiday care and after school care, we weren't allowed to play outside during summer/late spring without wearing sunscreen. This also happened at some swimming carnivals and whenever we would have swimming lessons. I vaguely recall a carnival where a teacher was walking around with a sunscreen bottle, asking people to reapply. It never occurred to me that this wasn't a universal experience for children. Until i saw Michelle's video.
the zinc sticks are definitely a thing here in Australia. they’re supposed to be thick and not rub in so you get maximum protection. that’s why the bright colours became popular, especially in areas like the nose and cheeks that burn easy. if you’re looking for sunscreens with the best protection, Australian sunscreens are the most reliable!
Aussie here! Can confirm zinc sticks are a real thing. Many homes with kids will have them in all colours. I rub my grandkids with sun cream then add stripes of zinc on their nose and lips. (Yes you have grandma fans, love your work 😊)
The Inkey List exfoliating stick has cured my severe cracked heels after trying many many products over the years and this sorted it within days. Truly lifechanging for me
I remember using the brightly coloured sunblock sticks in the 80s when I was a teenager, I had a fluorescent pink one and a white one 🙂 I kind of love that you can get them in skin tones now, never even knew that was a thing! I’ve just started using a Glow Hub toner essence, the calm and soothe one. I just got the travel size to try it out, but will buy the full size as it has helped my skin redness. I also love that even in the mini size it comes with one of those press down tops to get the toner on to the cotton wool pad 🙂
Those SPF sticks are DEFINITELY a thing and they are honestly amazing!!! I have one one right now as a full face foundation/spf and the coverage is gorgeous, they’re glowy and SPF 50 - honestly I actually couldn’t live without the one I’ve bought and I swear I’m not getting paid/exaggerating about it 😂😍
The colourful zinc sticks were really popular when I was a kid growing up in Australia, but that was in the 90s. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a come back though
I am an Australian child if the 70s and it used to come in little pots of colour. Bright blue and orange were my favourites. The stick is a lot easier to apply. Definitely didn’t budge!
As an American who has no clue: Did the color wear off over time to help you know to reapply or was the color just the gimmick in and of itself to encourage kids to wear sunscreen because YAY COLORS?
The Summer Fridays Jet Leg Overnight Eye Serum is AMAZING. I've been mixing this with The Ordinary 0.2% Retinal Emlusion and appling all over my face (including eye area) and neck... and my skin is now FLAWLESS. It's honestly taken 15 years off my age. I get compliments all the time and it's done wonders for my self-confidence.
Another Aussie here who was a kid in the '80s/'90s! Yay for the zinc sticks! I remember having fluro pink and orange ones to match our bathers (swimsuit). Green and gold zinc were always a popular thing at the cricket, too.
Australian here 👋🏻 the zinc sticks are absolutely a thing they’ve been around for ages and were staples at your highschool swimming carnival 😂 that being said most Aussie sunscreens are really good quality because we have the strictest sunscreen laws in the world (or one of the strictest) so if it’s being made and sold here it has to pass extremely strict laws to be sold and labelled as an SPF or sunscreen!
As a Gen X, Tik Tok is ok but it’s your research & deep Explanations (and uncovering) that I gravitate more to so THANK YOU for continuing those over here on YT.
Same on the Jet Lag Eye Mask. I'd gone full circle on night eye creams from not using them to being obsessed to just using my normal moisturisers again after not noticing enough results and having a few sensitising reactions+milia. But I gave this one a go, and 100% converted use it religiously. I'm 30 w/ 3yo twins+a 6yo, so anything that helps me look more awake and less puffy is a win. And this definitely does the job. After a month of using it, I do think I've noticed slight fine lines are a bit better. I layer it over my Sunday Riley Luna Oil as my retinol, which I do bring underye, and it hasn't caused any issues doubling up. I only use it at night, and pair it with the REM Beauty eye cream, which I recommend if you do well with silicones as it really does blur+cool the undereye.
I love love LOVE the glycolic acid body stick! I used to get the worst irritation from under my arms from shaving, & this has been an absolute game changer!
I love products in stick form for my feet. I can put on my moisturizer on my feet at bedtime without having to worry about washing my hands again before getting into bed. It’s a silly concern, but it’s nice to wind down with some self care and not have to disrupt the routine or worry that I’m going to put on lip balm in the night with foot lotion phalanges.
oooh this is an amazing idea! I didn't know moisturizers in stick form existed and I hate putting lotion on my feet, I hate it so much I forget about it all the time and my feet are as dry as the sahara desert lol This could be a perfect solution, I'm gonna look if someone sells this format in my country, thank you🥰🙏🙏
Neutrogena has a clear mineral stick i use on my eyes when i want yo wear a chemical sunscreen. It doesn't interfere with my makeup either. Love you James ❤️
Ive been using the glycolic acid stick for a few weeks now and I really like it. I have keratosis pilaris (bumps on arms) and i love how easy this is to use, its not greasy, and ive noticed a difference in the smoothness. Also I found it useful to loosen ingrown hairs on my upper legs. 10/10 for me.
Love seeing you have so much fun trying new skincare. My skin is so sensitive and acne-prone that I rarely venture out from the handfull of skincare products I've found that don't make me break out more. Sometimes it's fun to see what's new and how much you enjoy trying them out. I like how you talk about the experience of using the products and the ingredients in them that have specific purposes. Very fun and informative! 😊
The zinc sticks are definitely a thing here in AU. The fun coloured ones are mainly used on kids and the skin toned ones are relatively new but white is extremely common and I’ve been seeing white on teens and adults and colours on kids since the 80’s. So yes, a very Aussie thing. Surprised more people haven’t caught on till now …
Those zinc sticks look very interesting, I also get red in the sun on my cheeks even when wearing SPF 50, so I'd like to try those just like you described. I do think the colorful ones would be fun for kids too! Thanks for the great recs, as always! ❤
13:11 yes, zinc is an astringent so it makes sense that zinc spf’s can be relatively drying. The R&R product isn’t drying because it has so much bisabolol and alantoin. The rest of the base and the film formers are also relatively emollient for a sun serum and they’re very good at preventing TEWL. I haven’t looked at the full formula of the tatcha though so idk what in that formula is keeping the astringency at bay.
the zinc paste sticks are so nostalgic!! Reminds me of surfing as a kid. Love the idea of having it in a stick applicator instead of a tube. another example of a great packaging change. Really cool they have them in skin tones now, but the blue noses were such a thing
I also love tirtir! I started learning about their products after trying their skin milk last year, and I have been nothing but impressed with their ingredient lists!!!
The Q and A Salicylic acid body wash is FANTASTIC for KP and redness. I love it, it has completely cleared my KP - I use it as a first 'cleanse' in the shower then use my fav smelly body wash after .. has worked a treat for me anyway!!
the colorful zinc sunscreen sticks were really popular in the us in the 90s for events like sports games. using them like face paint encouraged young kids to reapply throughout the day at school or playing outside when parents weren’t around to nag them lol. never seen them in makeup/natural colors, though!
Hey James, loved your chats. The Australia stick sunscreen are actually a thing in Australia. Because the sun here really burns, in the middle of summer I go for a walk around 5:00pm and that sun is still going to burn you if you don’t have extra protection it’s brutal. I haven’t tried that brand because here we do have a few different brands though I haven’t seen one that is skin colour match, they look great. My husband who is very fair and uses something called invisible zinc stick, which is basically a zinc based product that goes on clear. I think most families would have some zinc stick based product in their bathroom cabinet because the sun in Australia is brutal. I will check your recommendation thanks 🙏
I didn't care for The TirTir milky toner. I used it for 2 weeks and gave it to my sister. Then they came out with the Light version and I LOOOOVE it. I started using The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Stick about 2/3 weeks ago for KP, Underarms & discolouration on the inner thighs (thick thighs peeps know the deal) and so far I'm actually really enjoying it and noticed a huge difference with KP on my legs and arms
I remember when things were viral they were talked about and used by influencers for months. Now viral products are only ever seen in the influencer review
We use those zinc sticks, I used them as a kid for sport days at school so I could show my team colours while being sun safe, and I did the same with my kid too. They’re really great for sensitive skin, I’m allergic to a lot of sunscreens but a zinc stick is great for my face
definitely need to try that inky list glycolic stick for kp/folliculitis, and the sun zappers for when I visit Hawaii. they look like they will be the perfect little extra reapplication to cheeks and nose while giving a bit of tint
My school wouldn't allow "foundation" so I wore that zinc to hide blemishes... looking back it would have definitely made them stand out more! But yes they are a thing in aus!
Remember he wears makeup! His skin is beautiful still lol but don’t feel bad about yourself as not everything you see online is as it looks in reality, he also has said before he uses filters and his camera doesn’t pick up skin details ❤️
I would love a video of recommendations for KP. I am awful with skincare because I have a sh*t ton of sensory issues but my KP bothers me a lot and with my dry skin looks even worse. 😅😅
I found bodycream/lotion with urea works great for KP in a gentle way. It is available in many formulations and with or without perfume so there is probably one that will fit your sensory preferences!
Australia zinc sticks absolutely a thing- white for beach days and sport, bright colours for school carnivals. Only downside they do stain clothes - a lot of schools now banning. You would take to school and paint all your friends 😂
I have ‘glass skin’ … ‘stain glass.’ I use gentle AHA for discoloration, but don’t get hung up on being ‘perfect.’ Some of my spots are cute, and I use SPF to keep them at bay.
I wear the skin tone zinc stick in place of a foundation (I buff it into my skin so it’s not a thick layer) when I’m having a no makeup day. I think they’re great, and I get compliments on my glowy skin whenever I do it.
I saw tirtir first on your channel and I am now in love. It has been amazing for my skin. I love watching both your and Robert's channel for recommendations and entertainment 😂
Omg James talking about Zinc sticks was not on my bingo list. 😂 As an Aussie, I used to use them all the time as a kid. They’re a staple in Australia, especially for kids and cricketers haha
I have become obsessed with the inn beauty project sunscreen. It’s a mineral but it doesn’t feel like sunscreen at all. I can put the proper amount and it just feels like a lightweight gel cream. I struggle with sunscreen due to textures and this has become my holy grail. I’m obsessed!!! I have dry skin and it doesn’t feel dry or cakey like some mineral creams
Oh those sticks remind me of zinka from the 80s. That's was so much fun. I might have to get some colors. Though I can't go swimming but I can lay out by the water.
been using the same products for years (mostly Paula's choice) and so far I didn't feel the need to change it! Every time I'm in Korea, I get some nice skin care or my MIL sends me some stuff. But I do enjoy watching your reviews! I dont think anything could convince me changing my routine though😉
i’ve given up completely on american sunscreens. they’re either too expensive, burn my eyes, pill or leave a white cast. i only use japanese and korean sunscreens!
The inkey list face wash is the ONLY face wash I’ve found that doesn’t burn my facial skin. I love them so much even if this is the only product I use. It took years for my face not to burn and it’s thanks to them
I would like to find a really good Vitamin C + E serum to use on my age spots on my cheeks, nose & a little on my upper lip. I’d like to find one the plays well with the Lawless Forget the Filler moisturizer I like so much.
I’m very tempted by the inkey list stick but a little disappointed with the use of Shea butter, I would prefer a more sophisticated moisturiser and some hydrators
Ahaha, are zinc sticks not a thing elsewhere? I’ve not seen these kind specifically, but we definitely had the coloured ones as kids. We would get ones in our ‘house colours’ for school sport days & draw all over each other.
For anyone with KP HIGHLY recommend the Glycomide Body Creme from facetheory. Has completely cleared my arms of redness and KP and replaced with soft soft baby skin. Have been using for years and love it. Very affordable, below EUR 20 and little goes a long way.
Omg zinc sticks !!! I'm from Melbourne and we used to draw lines all over our faces but the problem was that we never put on a base of sunscreen so we'd tan/burn with horrendous lines on our bodies and faces 😅🥲 they're defs a thing but less so with adults and more primary kids
I think the "ceramic skin" is supposed to make you think of ceramic doll faces, which usually have a satin finish to them. So, instead of shiny, glass skin, you're supposed to think of a subtle glow, satin finish instead.
I just ordered the colored zinc sticks for my grandson. If he thinks it's cool to have colored stripes on his face and keeps sunscreen on his cheeks, it's a win for me!
What are the patches on your hair? I got some for my boyfriend but they weren’t good and really pulled his hair getting them out I tried and felt so horrible I threw them out!
Ive never found an eye cream that did anything, most eye creams irritate my skin (usually a burning sensation or rashes, but im also very prone to milia) so i just use my regular moisturizer there🤷♀️ i want to find a good eye cream , i just haven't yet.
I was actually very impressed with a lot of these! Any products you like the look of?
Definitely the glycolic acid stick! Just so much easier than a cream and I have such bad KP since pregnancy 😮
I've been using the tirtir ampoule and toner and they have been a game changer ❤
I'm currently pregnant and my face has been so dry - they helped so much
Those coloured sun sticks are such a good idea, I’d be much more likely to reapply if it felt like a makeup touch up. I don’t actually know how you’re supposed to reapply spf if you’re wearing makeup? I’ve heard the spf powder brushes are ineffective?! Also imagine the coloured ones as sun protection body art at festivals!
@@FloorSugarIt’s helping my KP a lot!! Just beware. I rubbed it in and didn’t wash my hands and my fingers peeled for two weeks lol
James, if you put a link for Summer Fridays here, I will purchase it.

We use those zinc sticks, I used them as a kid for sport days at school so I could show my team colours while being sun safe, and I did the same with my kid too. They’re really great for sensitive skin, I’m allergic to a lot of sunscreens but a zinc stick is great for my face
The Summer Fridays eye serum has been my HOLY GRAIL, I’m obsessed w it. Loved seeing it in the vid ☺️
What is it doing for you?
Wow, whatever you’re doing to your skin, keep it up…AMAZING! Goes to show you that consistency is key❤️ Love&Blessings, Bella 🇺🇸
I might have to look into the glycolic acid stick
definitely need to try that inky list glycolic stick for kp/folliculitis, and the sun zappers for when I visit Hawaii. they look like they will be the perfect little extra reapplication to cheeks and nose while giving a bit of tint
My school wouldn't allow "foundation" so I wore that zinc to hide blemishes... looking back it would have definitely made them stand out more! But yes they are a thing in aus!
This was such fun, fresh content! I love seeing things I’m not seeing everywhere and that aren’t sponsored!
I used zinc sticks when I was a kid! They are perfect for the bridge of your nose and tops of your ears 😊
James!!! Your skin is iconic today!! Goddddd I wish I could get to that status of clear and glowy!! 💜💜💜
I think this glycolic acid stick is really good! One of the better products I’ve tried that helped with redness is the peach and lilly KP product!
Alpha Skin Glycolic lotion, Tretinoin, TO Glycolic Acid, Gold Bond Age Renew. These all work great, not at the same time of course 😉
@@JamesWelsh thanks for showing it in the vid! it's the first time I've heard of it and I am so intrigued by the idea!
The glycolic acid stick is amazing! I’ve been using it for a week and already see results.
I've been using the TIRTIR powder wash, really love it.
Omg James talking about Zinc sticks was not on my bingo list. 😂 As an Aussie, I used to use them all the time as a kid. They’re a staple in Australia, especially for kids and cricketers haha
your skin looks amazing in this video.
From Australia and I've definitely seen those zinc sticks. Don't use them though 😂
That inkey list stick goes on my wishlist because I have bad keratosis pilaris on my arms. I think this might help!
I had great results with Ameliorate transforming body cream (the one in the pot, not the lotion in the tube).
Cocokind has a very similar glycolic stick!
I’m from Australia and I remember the colourful zinc sticks as a kid so it was definitely a thing!
Your skin looks so glowy ultimately and your jawline looks snatched.!!! Please let us know what you changed in your skin regime....
Oh those sticks remind me of zinka from the 80s. That's was so much fun. I might have to get some colors. Though I can't go swimming but I can lay out by the water.
I'm not on Tik Tok, so I appreciate your UA-cam content.
Ooooooh I'm so interested in how that glycolic acid stick would work after shaving. Thank you for the heads up about it!!!
been using the same products for years (mostly Paula's choice) and so far I didn't feel the need to change it! Every time I'm in Korea, I get some nice skin care or my MIL sends me some stuff. But I do enjoy watching your reviews! I dont think anything could convince me changing my routine though😉
I saw these sun zapper sticks on Amazon and I was so curious! Thanks for the review.
Omg when I was a kid, those colour sun sticks were like SO popular. I really hope they are making a comeback.
i’ve given up completely on american sunscreens. they’re either too expensive, burn my eyes, pill or leave a white cast. i only use japanese and korean sunscreens!
The inkey list face wash is the ONLY face wash I’ve found that doesn’t burn my facial skin. I love them so much even if this is the only product I use. It took years for my face not to burn and it’s thanks to them
James you look so glowy here! What are the products you used before filming this video? tq in advance
I would like to find a really good Vitamin C + E serum to use on my age spots on my cheeks, nose & a little on my upper lip. I’d like to find one the plays well with the Lawless Forget the Filler moisturizer I like so much.
James could you mabye talk about what to do for hair on our necks and chin? I have pcos and have to shave often but it hurts my skin
Heyyy! Personally I just shave. I tried bleaching the fine hairs as well as using Nair for the face but everything irritated my rosacea
I love your nail polish! 💅
Git my YesStyle order yesterday !! Love the Tir Tir products you share here!! Was out of town so catching up 🤠
I wonder if the “ceramic” glass skin isn’t related to that Madison Margiela makeup
Gotta say I love you so much I’m always learning too your the only one I truly trust❤
Thank you so much! 💜
Hey,
Can we get the TikTok videos as Shorts?
I would love to see them but don't want to use TikTok. ❤
That milky toner looks so dreamy! I wish I could use niacinamide but that texture is almost worth the breakout 🤣
I’m very tempted by the inkey list stick but a little disappointed with the use of Shea butter, I would prefer a more sophisticated moisturiser and some hydrators
I dunno I think shea butter is a good but affordable option for the body?! 🧐
I treat my kp with exfoliating toner, works great
Ahaha, are zinc sticks not a thing elsewhere? I’ve not seen these kind specifically, but we definitely had the coloured ones as kids. We would get ones in our ‘house colours’ for school sport days & draw all over each other.
I just got my boyfriend the inkey list stick for the back of his arms. He loves it!
Could you review & compare the Inkey List Glycolic Acid body stick vs. CocoKind KP Body Stick (the key ingredient is also Glycolic Acid) as well…
The exfoliation stick.. how is the product itself on the skin? Is it thick and waxy or more lightweight?
