1) Not all curves are graphs of functions, so parametrizing allows us to describe them. In complex analysis, you won't have a choice. 2) Sometimes it is better to describe objects using a different space that is easier to work with.
Great video and so very helpful. One thing though, you look like my marine drill sergeant with the club in your hand. Its like, "It's simple. You don't get it, I bash your head in." I was trembling in my boots. I got it fast. Thank you, dude.
It will come from the problem given. If not a loop, it will have start and end points, which determine the direction. See around 6 minutes. If a loop, they have to indicate clockwise or counter clockwise.
This was a great refresher on parameterizing curves. It has been immensely helpful for my complex variables class!
Thank you soooooooo much! You saved me from getting lost in my math course! The idea of summarizing different curves is great!!

This helps me with complex line integral, since the 1st step is to parametrizing the line of integration. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the support! It's been a good year for the channel; it's getting more peer recognition (professors).
wow, thank you professor, it seems that there are very few people who speak English who like to explain this concept simply.
Your welcome! Editing is magic.
Thanks! I'm envious - complex variables is huge fun first time around.
Hi sir?
Your welcome! Once you understand how lines and circles work, other curves are properly motivated.

Sorry about that! While menacing, it stands out against the background. In later videos I switched to a Harry Potter wand, which looks kind of meh.
@@MathDoctorBob No, No, No! Don't change it!
Thanks men, i really dont understood this in the class but your video help me a lot!!
You're helping me with my exam right now!
i hope so, btw last week you helped so much to me with my exam:) thanks so much!!
You're welcome! Good luck with grades!
Thank you Professor!!!
You're the man
very clear explanation!
how do you know the orientation is wrong and that it needs to be -t instead of t?

You're welcome!
I read the title and for one moment I though this was about the moduli space of curves in the complex plane or something in that style lol.
I wish. Production time on the grad level videos is brutal.
Thanks very much
love you
Thank you very much!
SIR YES SIR!
Your Welcome! Good luck with exams.
My joints hurt just thinking about pro-wrestling. :) Keep practicing; it's the only way to get there.
@Xiaorui1016 Thanks! - Bob
orientation in wrong way ? Help me to understand
Edit: See response to Zainab Husain below.
geek of a pro-wrestler like myself:) except he seems better on both sides
