We delivered our IVF baby via emergent induction a month ago & it was an immediate emotional relief once she was out. Feeling like you can breathe is the perfect description of it! I’ll never forget when they placed her on my chest & the last 3 1/2 years of infertility almost melted away + our family felt whole & peaceful, finally.

Totally get the relief after the birth that your baby is finally here after so many years of hoping for a child. We ended up doing embyro adoption and now have our little one. I hemeraged really bad are the delvery. I wont go into detail but it was very tramatic. I ended up going to counciling to process everything whent down and so glad I did! Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

You’re not alone with the epidural fail! Mine did too. Got my epidural at 7:30pm, was only at a 3 at the time. By 10pm I was screaming in pain, and they checked me and I was ready to push! I am grateful looking back that I was able to feel my contractions because it helped with pushing. The contractions disappearing during while pushing was such great relief that I really enjoyed the pushing process.

so excited to finally see an update. with my first i also had the issue with the lip of the cervix getting caught. but luckily for me with all 4 of my kids the pushing process i just seemed to be a pro at and could just know where i needed to push so they would be out in less then 5-10 min in the pushing phase for me. i cant wait to hear the name you both have decided on. congrats again and excited for the next update.

Mac, you are such an absolute treasure in this wild IVF/infertility, and now new mom, community. I am so glad that your birth experience, with all its ups and downs, was overall positive and that you're able to have such a positive view of it. It sounds like you really had an excellent medical team around you, and how special that the same OB that referred you got to deliver your miracle baby!
Also, I have no doubt Jack and your family and friends have reminded you of this, but you too are doing amazing new mama! I can not even fathom how you're putting yourself together to film and edit an hour long video with an infant, but you are a champ (and so is Jack, certainly). Hope the adjustment to your new post-partum life gets better and better.

Thank you for sharing this dramatic and honest birth story! I watched about half of this on day 3 in the hospital after having my IVF boy, and just finished it on our second night home with him. (It's my shift awake because he only sleeps in his bassinet during the day). I also had the experience of an epidural that started out strong but faded, in my case right before we needed to pivot to a c-section, which was truly terrifying. But they somehow pumped enough of the serious drugs in there to make it work. My emotional release was slower, over the next few hours, because I was still so upset by how my situation had turned out. I wasn't sure we'd ever get here, and am still a little in shock.

I was lucky with my IVF pregnancy, that there was no pressure to induce (32years ago). I labored naturally mostly at home, upright, and only spent 2 hours in the hospital before she was born. It’s always chaotic at the end, and your whole being is involved in the pushing this baby out NOW!!! No matter what, that’s how it happens.
Glad it all went well for you despite the bleeding. You three did a great job!
We felt exactly like you express after she was out. All the stress of infertility is with you until the moment she was here. (And a little guilt for finally succeeding when so many others still struggle).
I don’t know if you feel the same, but I feared disaster after, too. I’d wake and listen to her breathing all night long just to be sure. But all was well. She’s a pediatric resident now-a doctor. Almost done. They grow up SO fast. Savor every moment.
You grew a human handmade in a Petri dish (our team gave us the Petri dish)! Congratulations. Enjoy. ❤❤❤❤Kiss her honey head from me, another IVF mom.

Congratulations! I’m so happy for you both! I’m glad you’re ok. I didn’t struggle with infertility but it was so neat following your journey. I had post partum depression or what I thought was post partum depression for the first year after our daughter’s birth. In actuality it was thyroiditis and early Hoshimoto’s that I discovered three years later. I didn’t realize how common thyroid issues can be after giving birth but nothing helped. I had anxiety with nursing, and meds didn’t help. Counseling seemed to give me the support I needed but that year was so hard. My thyroid actually stopped working three years later/ died. If you’re reading this and are struggling get some thyroid labs done.

Honestly it amazes me that women and babies for centuries have made it through childbirth sometimes. Amazing doctors make it possible but your story and so many stories show not only the beauty of having a new baby but the scary parts. I always say every baby is a true miracle! Congrats on this journey and your perfect little girl!! My husband and I went through what I call a “touch” of infertility. Enough that I understand the pain, but I feel so much for families who have to wait so much longer for their baby. Anyway amazing birth vlog ❤❤

It’s every emotion wrapped up in an experience you have longed for with all your heart. It’s beautiful and scary and then suddenly there she is. She’s really real. You have never loved anything more than that little girl you fought so hard for. My girl made me wait 9 years! Sometimes the OB doctors aren’t that nice when I had my baby my epidural failed me right when my daughters head came out and I got a tear and the pain was so bad when the doctor stitched me up my lags started closing as she was stitching me up and she started yelling at me to stop moving I had no control of my body because of the pain and just squeezed out an entire human out of me and I felt unheard by that female doctor but all the nurses were super sweet and caring

Just had the same thing happen with my epidural with baby girl #4! The pain is so intense but also like you said, just the mental state of feeling relief from having the epidural to having to go back into dealing with those contractions is pretty insane! 4th babe so only pushed for 5 min so it wasn’t so bad but first I also pushed for almost 4 so it does get easier with each! :)

I was also stuck at 9/9.5 centimeters because a little lip of the cervix was still in the way. Way to go, that sounded really challenging! I pushed for 2.5 hours with my first without an epidural and it was the most physically exhausting thing I’ve ever done. I can’t imagine doing 4 hours!!

I have never heard of external veins causing bleeding during birth! Wow, I'm glad things worked out though but that's crazy to lose so much blood prior to birth

My first labor took 8 sticks to get an iv, 6 for my second, and 6 for my youngest. It was awful I looked like an iv drug user by the time I left. I have terrible veins so I knew it would take forever.
All 3 of my kiddos were inductions.

I’m finding this emotional… I had no preparation to FAST.
I had a precipitous labour… 14 years ago… at home… bled out and lost a litre of blood at home… 2hrs from start to finish. Same happened with my second (although beginning to birthing was 1.5 hrs) and was given pitocin to stop me dying at home… pitocin was more painful and sickening than my labour was. I’m still slightly traumatised years on 😮

You remember when you said you didn’t want Jack in your face. I completely understand that feeling. That’s the point when your mind and body goes into I guess you could say yourself. I think it’s hormones. It’s when I think my postpartum little bit of depression started. Mine was never bad but it’s actually your brain protecting you. I hope you can understand what I’m not saying very well. I did this with all 4 of my babies.

Not technically an infertility mama, but I had a stillbirth in 2021. That release when my rainbow baby boy was here, was like no other. I had a Homebirth- which was also chaotic, but awesome! My son is now 4 months old 💙🫶🏼
