    I just love watching him, not only for his perfect and effortless jumps, but also his cool, modern, unique and manly style!

    He makes me smile watching him doing his quads many times within one program. His elegance, the sense of levity, his technique to propel himself into the air and the beauty of the "movement" itself is art to me.

    Awesome skater. He makes the extremely difficult look easy. Love this year’s music selections.

    Nathan the most most consistent skater in the history of skating.

    I have said this a lot. He’s got all the bombs and what is impressive is his ability to dispose of them at will whenever he wants to. The 4loop was just a shot to every other competitor in the world and the ISU that he is capable of that element and along with everything else he is pretty much unbeatable. He is just on another level compared to everyone else.
    What is also impressive about him is how methodical he is in his preparation. He knows what he has to do at every competition and takes each one one at a time. He doesn’t look ahead. He is singularly focused on that one competition and not 2 or 3 competitions down the road. That is a strong mindset to have.

    Thanks for Nathan I got to know and enjoy such beautiful music as Land of All or Philip Glass. Love Nathan’s skating - he is incredibly talented. After watching so many other skaters in the world for whose laboured jumps I often had to hold my breath when they performed, I appreciate so much the easiness and security that Nathan’s jumps have provided. That means when he performs, I feel no stress nor anxiety, but complete relaxation and pure joy, in awe of everything he provides - the music, beautiful skating, ease of jumps and dazzling step sequence, just to name a few.

    Whenever I watch Nathan, I feel secured that he will land his jumps. If not all jumps landed, at least I'm sure that he won't have a splat fest (which can happen with so many quad jumps in a program). Though his performance level is not there yet, but his athleticism is something extraordinary.

    Him getting almost +4goe on that wonky 4T+3T shows just how overscored he is. And because a 4T can get +4,75goe at max most of the judges had to have given that combo +4 and a few +5 when it had no flow, no transitions, not a good landing, didn't look effortless and wasn't matching the music (I thinks he selects the music specifically to be just a blur so that he can't be critisised for such lazy choreo work.) which means it should have gotten +2 at max for good height/lenght and good air position. (Although he didn't choose a more difficult air position like tano or rippon and I personally think that a lot of other skaters have prettier air positions.)

      I think you were looking at the score for his previous jump. The 4T-3T shown in this video got a GOE of 1.33 with the judges' scores ranging from 0 to +2

      He does not, I am not sure if he really cannot do them but even so, so what? not everybody has to do everything. Every sport has its judging rules and Chen wisely found a way how to win and at the same time how to produce clean performances which are very interesting and engaging for many people. If for example skating for more than half a minute on one foot would be adequately awarded by points I am sure he would be capable of doing it. He does not do quads during exhibition galas and a lot of people still watch him with a great pleasure.

    I’m sure Nathan is a very good skater. But he is the one skater that has caused me to lose interest in ice skating entirely. The tv media and Nathan is all about jumping. The silly media goes on about 3 jumps, then 4 jumps. The judges have skewed points to more points for more jumps. Now, i suppose you can’t win without doing 4 jumps. It’s silly. One doesn’t do ice skating just for jumps. That’s gymnastics.

      He is the one skater that caused you to lose interest??? Are you not turned off by the Russian girls? They only care about jumps, all their programs are the same. They win even with several falls because they get points for attempting jumps. They burn out by 17/18.

    • @Losyara_pozornyj
      @Losyara_pozornyj 3 роки тому +1

      @@kathleenkeeley3194 maybe the guy simply wasn't into woman's discipline. And what do you mean by "burn out"? Well not only girls but also boys leave because traumas and not only russian girl leave at the age of 17. Besides, sometimes it's just a loss of motivation: some either have won anything they ever wanted or understand they have no chances already. Skaters can not be the same so can not their programms. Just say it as it is that you personally don't love ALL the Russian girls but you still should recognize them as personalities. Btw the only russian girl skater so far that doesn't care a lot about anything except jumps is Trusova. But remember Lipnitskaya, now Valieva and Sherbakova. They have great flexibility, i must admit it even though i can see that the scores of the last two on the nationals this year were inadequate.

      That's stupid. You don't do jumps like that in gymnastics. And I'll have you know fans in gymnastics have the same complaint. 'Less artistry, only crazy elements'. But guess what, both disciplines are so much more exciting.

      How interesting! Nathan is the reason I started to follow figure skating again. Used to be an avid fan but then I quit watching any programs 20 years ago because it's all repetitively boring. No! It's not gymnastics! Can't you tell the difference with and without skates on. Lol Besides, when did Nathan just come out on ice for jumps? All his routines I've watched so far are all beautifully choreographed with excellent selections of music. His performances are mesmerizing and exciting! I guess his jumps are so out of the world that people somehow have to understate his artistry to make themselves feel more secure because he's inhuman indeed. Lol
