I'm refinishing only the NECK of my Alvarez acoustic (after having it slimmed way down by a luthier), but your clear demonstrations of steel wool and Tru-Oil are very helpful. There are many YT videos on re-doing necks, but they're all Fender/electric-type close-grain maple necks, totally different from acoustic necks of porous woods like mahogany. Thanks.
I appreciate this video. I have 3 Tacomas; an EM9 I have had since 2002, a DM9(2001) I got used maybe 7 years ago and a Jumbo (2001) with the classic rash that I picked up about 2 years ago. I have wondered about removing the polyester finish of the jumbo and the risk reward. I have also wondered about putting something on the satin finish guitars (EM9 , DM9) to protect them. They are all great guitars and sound amazing especially with K&K pickups in them. Seems like this works well on the satin finish to bring it to a more protected finish.
Great job ! Love them Tacoma s Definitely a great under the radar guitar! I own two a 2006 er28c and a 2005 dm9 I’ve played Martin and Taylor’s and I agree they sound just as good
I dropped my Tacoma DR55 off at a guitar mechanic a couple days ago and he told me it wasn't worth putting a lot of money into it. The action is too high and the bridge is lifting up in the back. He really didn't want to work on it.

Have you ever tried Liberon 0000 steel wool? If you haven't done so, I recommend it. It doesn't break apart like other steel wools.
