Fastest Lego Technic car powered by BuWizz - speed record breaker over 40 km/h

- I spent several weeks creating, improving and testing this Lego Technic speed record breaker car. The basic idea was to use 2 BuWizz units, 4 buggy motors and 4 Technic motorcycle wheels and to add only the minimal amount of components to create the lightest and fastest BuWizz powered Lego Technic car. It had to be solid enough to survive all the crashes during the tests and record breaking attempts. The aim was to go faster than 40 km/h.
I had several tests at various locations until I found a proper track and the final configuration of the car was created. During this time a lot of parts had to be replaced as the axles were bent after a couple of runs.
The car does not have a conventional steering to reduce weight. For the speed runs only small adjustments are needed, so the direction of the car is controlled by the speed difference of the wheels - there are two control sliders on the phone for each side of the vehicle.
The speed was measured with the on-board GPS unit. The car was controlled mostly with my phone, but for the fastest run I was using an iPad (longer range). Even like this at full power the car ran out of range very quickly.
I think it would be possible to go even faster with this car, but that would require a completely flat surface and a chase vehicle to ensure the controller stays in range. Maybe another time ;)

Today on Fox channel , Man runs more than 40kmph.
Dylan Whitworth no it’s not.
Yep, and that was the speed of the car and not mine :)

I totally feel your R&D sweat and tears. I tried to build a pullback car for my 2-yr-old. It has to sprint like cat and sturdy as a rhino (so they don't destroy it). I find 1 pullback motor too limited, so I try to put 2 into 1 car.... then, the torque is too high at release, and most of the energy is lost. So, i start to add tires......
The process of R&D is very underappreciated for most viewers. Technic builds are not easy to tweak, and sturdy Technic builds are even worse. Congrats on this milestone project. Let's add more wheels for traction and hit 50!!
Thanks! You're totally right, the months spent to create the car is not really visible in such video. I'm planning to do an upgraded version in the future but the key element is to find the proper track and that's still missing.
RacingBrick- Find a building with a long flat stretch, like a gym or a warehouse. Also add an aerodynamic nosecone to the front of something, see if that affects speed
A moment of silence to any broken or lost LEGO pieces.

Amazing! Great video!
Nice! Just like Usain Bolt
Lol, "almost" like him :D
So you ran in 40km/h?
What do you see on the video, the GPS is attached to me or to the car? :)
Yes yes he did 😂
At 2:43 you see that the car starts going way faster than him
The car suddenly accelerated atleast 10kmph and then drove into the grass.
I love that ending! Sweet car models and everything! Congrats!!
Lol this channel us underrated as hell!
Thanks, spread the word so more ppl will know about it ;)
No problem!
Terrible steering more like drifting and crashing
@@treedoge6831 its tank steering not meant for high speeds but its less weight
Excellent work and I’m impressed how fast it travels! The maximum speed of my motorized LEGO double decker bus is only about 5.5km/h and I already considered it to be a fast vehicle. :O
awesome
You should do this again but with the new bigger wheels from the BMW motorcycle set ...😁
Originally I though the creator was a 13 year old kid... then I saw a very adult-looking face with facial hair! I was not expecting that😂
Awesome Work either way 👍🏼
Cool, I think I remember seeing a video a couple years ago about a life size Lego car, a bit faster I think. It also did technically use a pneumatic engine though.
Good but I think the human can't go to 40km/h and your phone has a small distance of race...
I built a dragster and he go to 31,3km/h and I can't run with... It's so cool for playing.
Amazing! Please do a part two whith buwizz 3.0
Great amout of effort put in this amazing build(btw i like ur hoodie ot looks nice)
Not asking for much ONLY A PERFECT RUN
Hi
When you get a speed ticket for a lego car
The stop motion was great
thats crazy speed i run 2 km ph
why would anyone dislike this video?
i will also try to make a car like that one
You need to take it on a smooth floor and I'm sure it will hit 45-48!
Yeah well if you know a few hundred meters of smooth floor around here then please let me know :)
If it could drive upside down... the stunts would be insane
It actually can if the parts holding the speed meter and the camera are removed
Wow, very impressive!!!
Damn that's pretty neat. One day I'd like to see if I could build one that can go on a track.
Welp, Record has already been Broken
This is literally racing bricks
I think it can reach 45+km/h if it doesnt go on the grass!
Well, seems you got a new subscriber!
Nyooom
I saw your face at 2:00!!!!!!!
OMG!!!! Now you know who I am!! :) Let me help you, you can clearly see my face in this one - ua-cam.com/video/tmGkyeVaVEA/v-deo.html
Great story, great build, great result, great animation. Great work!
What kind of speed range would a car double in size be able to get in?
Thanks! Not sure if the size increase would give a speed increase as well since the weight to move would be significantly higher as well.
@@RacingBrick, I was actually considering a lower speed exactly because of the added weight. But I would also expect increased adherence and maneuverability, and that I would easily trade for a decrease in speed.
How about if L motors were used? How would that be reflected in the vehicle's speed?
@@hntrains2 L motors would make it significantly slower. This whole construction was built to achieve the highest speed possible with 4 buggy motors, so if you would like to create something that is bigger and has better maneuverability then you'll probably need a fundamentally different approach.
Superfast. Cool. Let me make one like that. I have Lego 51515. I think I will need gear! But I think it will also crash if it is out of control like super fast and I can't run and I lost control and crash. Awesome.
Ez tök jó... én is próbálkoztam hasonlóval csak sajnos sikertelenül gratulálok :)
Really nice editing and good performance!
It will run more if you ad a aéreo kit
Emellett sokkal több lehetőség is lenne benne.
How is it steering?
speed difference between the 2 sides
I think this is awesome! It's even cooler that you made a working Dynometer for it!
Thanks! :)
RacingBrick how did you make that building effect? What programs do you use?
I made photos of the phases and used a transition effect in Premiere Pro called "Morph Cut".For the photos I use Lightroom, for the videos I mostly use Premiere Pro.
its not really a lego technic car if everything moving it is not lego technic...
Everything moving is in fact Technic :)

put stabilizers
so cool i subscribed! I hope lego will build a new stronger motor so u can test it
Thnx! That'd be great I agree :)
@@RacingBrick I think lego will never do that unfortunately.
They seem more concerned about making the stuff more idiot proof than giving anything near as powerful as the RC motors...
Also we will never have micro motors like in the past.
The only good side is that the app controlled stuff will certainly add possibilities with the new components depending of if lego makes that stuff modular...
Great job. Next: a skateboard that can go over 5 mph
Fake, previous commentators have already spoken.
Lol
@racingbrick: Team Buwizz, Merxpak and Project Stesi brokes your record many times. Did you will repeat this challenge to try become the record back?
That's no surprise as it happened a long time ago. I'll revisit the project if I'll have time but there're no exact plans yet
if you hit the rat with your lego car, would the rat die?????
That's minecart, not a car. My dream is to build a very fast beautiful car.

Nice editing!
Make the car longer for beter steering
New world record for Lego kind
Could be even faster. If it had longer chassis and only 2 wheels (one front and one rear wheel) it would have less friction, more stabile steering and better aerodynamics. But then i dont know is it a car or a motorbike.
Look here... I will do some speedruns with SkyRC GPS probe on my RC Superbike next summer when LiPos can give enough power... ua-cam.com/video/y6kzeB-TJ0s/v-deo.html
Great Video Dude! Nice edit! Subed
That's faster than my grandmom driving her car!
I have only power functions receivers, motors, battery boxes... And thats heavy to make a fast car
It would be even better if you got an older DJI phantom 2 and put a gimbal and camera to record stuff like this
Yeah I didn't have a gimbal back then when I recorded it, next time it will look better
Epic
Still faster than williams
No
Face it. Do not chase it. It goes 40 kilometers per hour. You only go 10 kph.
I had to maintain the connection with the limited Bluetooth range and it needs time to accelerate, how do you solve that one without chasing it?
I made are tractor and it went 62 feet
I’m glad you think of mounting a side bracing. Without it the wheels would just come off when moving
But did you pick up that bra?
that design but you need to do a little more gearing to speed it up
I suggest to give it a try and you'll see that with this setup this is the maximum you can get. If you try to gear it up more you'll loose torque and the motor/battery will shut down due to the overload.
@@RacingBrick lego can do that?!?
@@RacingBrick when i overload my m motor is is just spinning and spinning and drains the battery.... I dont know what you get there
@@RacingBrickor do a second gear

Talk about speed
I didn't really know how fast 41.1 km is because I'm American so. It's over 25 miles per hour that's insane!😮 This got me the idea that Lego should make Starwars sets mixed with technic. Imagine a self walking At Et.
