    Do you use the certainty on a dormant or active growing Bermuda? What month?

    • @GregPhillips.22
      @GregPhillips.22  Місяць тому +1

      Either. In dormant Bermuda you can go with a glyphosate application and control more weeds. I put it in dormant Bermuda in February with barricade pre emergent. Kept everything clean until June

    So, I used Scott's Turf builder the day of overseeding (Sept 14) I have mowed my TTTF twice already is it time to do another application of the Scott's? And how many applications can I do in total ? So far I've only done the one application the day of overseeding. Your videos are awesome, great information. I'm a new subscriber. 🎉

      Thanks for the kind words! Glad to help. Likely your fertilizer will feed for 6 weeks. So ya it is likely time to go out again for a couple of reasons. 1) encourage it to fill in and 2) On cool season grasses the most important fertilizer application of the year is the mid/late fall application. Particularly for Nitrogen. Nitrogen application will bring the sugars up in the plant then as the temps cool the grass slows down storing up those sugars. Then, when spring comes temps come up those sugars are available for spring green up. It makes a big difference in the color and vigor of cool season grasses in the early spring. The difference is very noticeable when you dont do that fall application.

    I live in central VA (zone 7). I sprayed killed everything in Aug with Eraser (cuz I had poa and wire grass everywhere). I sprayed tenacity once before seeding. By the time I was able to mow twice I had some Poa. I sprayed tenacity a few time and bleached it pretty good. I'm gonna throw down more seed and probably some barricate where I didn't reseed. I assume I will probably need tenacity and barricade again in the early March and May need sod for the bare patches. Any thoughts? What treatment method do you recommend?

      Try that October Tenacity program in March. That should take out the poa and if necessary you can still seed. Provided you hold off on the barricade. Been dry as a bone this fall. Finally getting some rain!

      I noted that. I am getting "teckier" the more I do this. It's an issue between my editing software and UA-cam. I actually upload this video 3 times for other issues. Not sure what it is. At this stage just going with it. Likely redo in the spring late winter. I am looking at more sophisticated software too.

    For bermuda or zoysia Poa control you are better off buying Monument .5 gram pack if you can find it. Efficacy ratings for certainty on poa are poor to fair. I understand it’s cheap but doesn’t work that well. Also doesn’t control crabgrass. Don’t think it’s labeled for it at all.

      Negate worked for me beautifully.

      @@TheObserver567 negate is a decent option. Just have to mix the entire bottle at one time. It’s not as user friendly for diy spot spraying bc it’s has two actives that are not homogeneous. But yes, for the value rimsulfuron js a good option for poa and the msm in it will clean up any broadleaf weeds

      Have not done much with Monument but as you noted you are looking at a $300+ cost on it and once something is above the $100 price point it's just not practical for most homeowners. Some folks run into issue with certainty when they don't use the surfactant with it. As far as the crabgrass control you are correct, certainty is not labeled for crabgrass however, if you are spraying for crabgrass its usually hot enough the poa annua is on its way out on warm season grasses anyway.

      I have not used negate but have heard good things about it. Particularly removing overseeded ryegrass out of bermuda. On my bermudagrass lawn and the golf courses I managed have had really good success with the glyphosate/barricade dormant application. Negate's label mentions stunting of bermuda and sensitivity with zoysia. One of the reasons I have not tried it. That being said, most of the online posts about it have not mentioned any issues. It goes out at 1.5oz/ac or 0.34oz/1000. Negate comes in a 1.5oz "one acre" bottle. Using Wettable Granular (WG)can be a little difficult to measure out how much you need for a typical home lawn. For those reasons is why I did not mention it. May look further into it for the next video on this topic. One things you could do with WGs and WPs is get a scale and measure how much you need. It takes a little math and yes guess work....converting but I have done that with a large container of Merit (imidacloprid) and seemed to work. If you are mixing an entire bottle most herbicides only last a few days after being mixed with water so keep that in mind. Thanks for the feedback! Always looking for ideas to share in my videos.

      I understand there are home lawn care UA-cam videos that are in the 5 to 6 minuets range. Nearly all of those are a sales pitch for a product or to say “this worked for me”. That is not what this channel is about. This channel will recommend products but it is also to teach you why you are using those products and how to apply them correctly. I am here to educate the viewer so they can make decisions on what to do to their yard. So that the products, money and time they spend on their lawn is well spent. I have been in turfgrass management for nearly 35 years. I can tell you to reach your goals, select the correct products, ensure you do not damage the turf. Correctly time applications to achieve a high quality lawn in the most efficient, environmentally responsible and cost effective way. It is imperative to know what to use, why you are using or doing it, and the correct way to do it. You cannot do that in a few minuets. I appreciate you watching and the feedback however, I am not changing the goals of my channel.
