The subversion of Dark Mage promotions for Elise and Odin was unexpected, but a huge treat - and it made a lot of sense. Since you’re not using average stats on this run, your Elise!Ophelia needs as many stats as she can amass to prevent the latter stages of the run to go south. Ooooh, promotion guesses? I love it! Let’s see: Pre-promotes: Leo, Xander, Camilla, Shura, Gunter, Felicia, Jakob Have already promoted: Corrin, Elise, Odin, Laslow, Selena, Mozu, Kaze, Silas, Beruka, Keaton That leaves us with Arthur, Effie, Niles, Nyx, Peri, Charlotte and Benny. I think it will be Charlotte, and I will explain my reasons: -It won’t be Effie because you said so in your chapter 17 video; -Arthur is currently an Outlaw, and Chapter 18 is one of the least friendly toward bows - only the Maids wield daggers and there are no fliers; -It most likely won’t be Niles, since there is no one to capture on chapter 18 - the only reason to deploy him is to build supports with Nyx; -Speaking of her, I can’t imagine Nyx doing anything too useful in chapter 18 to justify fielding her. And since she’s one of the hardest characters to train, she has to pick her battles; -Peri could be an interesting choice for deployment, but I don’t think she will be. In your chapter 17 video, you mentioned Silas needing to complete his support goals in the next story missions, so I imagine he will be deployed with Camilla and Kaze to make progress in those chains; -Benny, Nyx and Peri are characters that are kinda hard to justify fielding, so you’ll need to cut their training short ASAP. The best way to do that is training them to level 25, getting them married and then dropping them in favor of Ignatius/Nina. Since none if those three have reaches level 20, I don’t think it will be them; -Charlotte has been largely neglected thus far, but she needs to get her friendship with Beruka (?) and her marriage with Xander going. So it makes sense to field her, especially if Kaze (Beruka’s husband) is fielded too; -If Charlotte promotes earlier, she will still have high enough EXP gains to learn Rally Strength when it’s needed. She would be in a similar situation to Beruka, her friend - she’d be three promoted levels away from the level 15 skill, which could be passed to her kid for great results. I’m not sure if that’s her fate, but it would be nice to see. Anyways, I could be totally wrong, but those are my guesses. Love this series so so so much ❤️
It... never even occurred to me to use the fire orb as an obstacle. I just used all three indestructible buildings. Speaking of... can I just say how completely ridiculous it is that the lottery is indestructible and the jail boosts crit? By all logic it should be the other way around!
0:48 I can think of one instance where another Malig Knight doesn't have an axe. On turn 12 of Endgame, a group of paired up Malig Knights spawn in. One holds a Bolt Axe and the other one only has Ragnarok. It's a bit of a stretch since it does spawn paired up with one that has an axe but it does exist!
It’s by far my favorite FE mechanic combined with all the positional skills and available terrain. Unfortunately guard stance is simple to use and left a lot of players with the impression of always using it over attack stance
@@sohn7767 Past a certain point though, you do need to go guard stance a lot of the time because the enemy formations and dual strikes become far more dangerous later in the game, and the benefits of pair-up bonuses and having a shield guage start to outweigh the benefits of getting an extra attack. It's not just because it's easier to use - it's the game gradually pushing you into that direction by design, and Zoran even admits this. Hence why he divised this challenge run where he has to train everyone and can't just juggernaut. Also... what available terrain? Not only are there not many bonuses the player can take advantage of throughout the game, but the maps are laid out so terrain is often meant to aid the enemy more than you, and your fliers will completely ignore it anyway.
@@GIR177 yes, attack stance doesn’t scale that well late into the game unless you have a big team of strong units. Enemy dual strikes become quite dangerous. Guard stance would be good even without the extra pair up bonuses. I’m still of the opinion that unless you really have no option aside from guard stance, attack stance is always more worthwhile. Many times it’s much more complex to do so, but that’s where the fun is. Not arguing that either is better, but it does sadden me that a handful people just pair up and call it s day (even if it’s the worse choice in that scenario). As for terrain, I more less mean the map design in itself. You already know that CQ has sets of formations and little open space that throws enemies at you. You have a lot chances to position your units to abuse auras and control attack stance sequences. And fliers specifically can wait on flier only terrain to force 1 range unit to attack the other, plus they can almost always be present to use or perform dual strikes. Even in maps like ch19, you can park a flier on a mountain and have them support someone else. Same story in ch14, only watch out for archers and fliers can perform and use dual strikes left and right while being able to ferry people at the same time. Ch24, kinshi’s plus water terrain basically don’t allow your flier to enemy phase them with guard stance anyway, so overwhelming with attackstance (which also has better hit) is an effective way of dealing with them. I know I didn’t explain too much, but I’ve played lunatic awakening with attack stance and even there-a game known for open maps and enemies rushing you-attack stance makes me utilize the map to my advantage a lot more than usually. CQ has better much and tighter design where it has even more time to shine.
My guesses for the final two pre-tier 3 shops will go to Niles and Charlotte. Niles is going to have to do a lot of boss killing in paralogues that will probably be played soon after chapter 18, since this means the child character join early enough to build supports amongst eachother. Niles will have some bosses to capture and you wouldn't want to waste this valueable exp. Charlotte is going to want to promote early like you said, and rally strength is a very nice tool to have access to in general.
20:18 you might be able to manipulate the AI by using a grave. The grave has 20 hp compared to a statues’ 10. While both get one shot, it’s worth giving it a try
These Invasion maps really let your preparation and game knowledge shine: awesome job! It's cathartic to see you demolish the invaders after struggling so much with my own very suboptimal setups.
It dawned on me a couple of chapters ago that due to the challenge we'd be doing the Ignatius paralogue at some point which I've always viewed as being a bit of a nightmare to do later in the game and at least requires wary fighter being passed down. I thought we'd circumvent this by fielding benny early and getting his s-support asap before the paralogue enemies promote but obviously that didn't happen. I'm very curious to see a late game clear of that paralogue and how you'll go about doing it✌
Great vid! To answer your question, I think Benny is getting the master seal because I remember your goal was to promote him in Kitsune Lair. Can’t wait to see the first gen finally getting fazed out, I’ll miss them but there’s so little meta on the second gen and I am looking forward to hearing your takes.
The storytelling and observational skills in this series of videos are nothing short of amazing. I watch all sorts of "let's plays" for various games. I'm not even the hugest FE Fates fan, but the (seemingly scripted) narration here makes for singularly entertaining videos. I notice you post to Serenes Forest. Did you plan on doing a series of videos for FE Engage? IIRC, you've done some preliminary analysis of FE Engage footage. BTW, "Killager" as a reference to Mozu (in one of your other videos) is extremely clever. I've played Fates, but never finished a run. I saved Mozu, but didn't get far beyond that. Her animations are hilarious, with her looking scared. Anyway, excellent video!
Thanks again for showing that there are some strats uniquely available to Nohr Noble Corrin. This castle setup is brilliant enough I'll have to start incorporating it into my playthroughs for Invasion 2.
There is something I am very curious. How do this music (Land Below) is playing instead of the usual music (Road Taken)? I looked in your mod list but nothing says about soundtrack edits.
It’s pretty obscure, but there's an option in the in-game settings to select the background music for castle battles and skirmishes. Annoyingly, you can only change that setting at the prep screens for those battles or during them, not while you’re walking around your castle normally.
It's stat inheritence (no growth), if Elise get more magic thanks to a higher magic growth she can pass down more base magic to her child. It's the same reason why his Percy had +1 Hp and +2 Str compared to a normal Percy the moment he recruited him, he inherited these stats bonus from Arthur and Effie.
