I am in this film. At about the 13th minute a scene from the Goddard Space Flight Center has me, with a headset, speaking into a phone. The film was made month's after the flight. I didn't join NASA until after the flight but I was there when the film was made. The other end of the cable for my phone was being held by the camera man. I suspect that most of the scenes from the various tracking scenes were also made after the flight. Still, General Dynamics made a top notch documentary of John Glenn's flight.
Some of the launch , here and Gemini were on lunchroom/auditorium TV thru elementary . 1965 my Kindergarten yr , we saw a few Gemini launches . Ballistic missiles turned to exploration....
Wow! John Glenn's flight is much more interesting in this show than any others I've seen. Your work, cleaning up the audio/video, really paid off. Thank you...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
My dad was there. Shook glens hand. And wished him well. Lead engineer original instrumentation at cape Canaveral. In flight engineer. Boosters. Nozzles. Saturn. Mercury. Atlas. Centaur.
Absolutely brilliant! A really great insight into the men and the machines it took to accomplish this flight with the technology then available and as such like a time capsule back to those exciting times at the very start of human spaceflight.
Absolutely terrifying when he was in the middle of talking with capcom and went dark no coms, it’s amazing that the mercury capsule could hold Glenn’s massive balls of steel, god speed Glenn!!!!
7:00 The control room here is notably smaller and simpler than the ones shown for Apollo. I don't know if I ever saw one of these before, but I certainly never thought about the difference. And actually, it looks a lot more relaxed, with more subdued lighting, and apparently a lot less smoke as well.

That’s amazing. I was born in 1985, but dang I wish I was around during this time.

Thank you for your service at Goddard sir 🫡 🇺🇸

"The Greatest Generation" in my opinion.
This is so amazing. I was 1 month old at this time.
Before the launch of STS-95, Scott Carpenter was one again able to say the immortal words "God Speed, John Glenn"

Godspeed, John Glenn.
Got to love their selection of background music.
yeah - bits of startrek and gone with the wind offcuts.

How tight was that hatch
Looks like it fit like a latex glove. They almost had to grease John just to slip him in!
Today the Corpus Christi ground tracking site is a huge park. Our R/C club flies model aircraft over that site.
Can you upload the John Glenn Story?
Will take a look. If I can improve upon the existing versions, sure.
