The Cross was an instrument of death and Punishment. To pick up your death sentence, is not giving up and dying but follow the teachings of Jesus and having eternal life.
It is not our will the one we seek but the will of the Father... Jesus was obedient and we must be too. God's will usually goes against ours because he is perfect and knows what is good for us but, In other hand, we tend to allow ourselves to be enticed by our own desires and many times end up being unfaithful and sin against our Lord. Ask God to guide you in all truth through His spirit so you can fulfill His purpose. I bless you all in Jesus name.
Matthew 16:24-“If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself and pick up his torture stake and continually follow me.” This means there are three necessary things a Christian must be prepared to do: (1) disown himself, (2) pick up his torture stake, and (3) continually follow him. The Greek word for disown means “to say no” or “to utterly deny.” Therefore, a person that disowns himself lives to please, not self, but God. It means every moment of his life, he says no to selfish desires and yes to God. To pick up your torture stake has serious implications. A Christian is willing to suffer if need be, or be shamed or tortured or even put to death because of being a follower of Christ. The Christian’s life is a life of carrying the torture stake of sacrificial service to God. Jesus requires that not only do we accept and believe in what he taught, but also for our entire life, we continually follow the pattern he set. Jesus gave his followers their final commission at Matthew 28:19,20. He preached and taught the good news of the Kingdom, so did his disciples and the entire early Christian congregation. This zealous activity as well as their being no part of the world brought upon them the hatred and opposition of the world, which resulted in their torture stake being even heavier to carry.
In Rom 7:18 Paul is speaking on behalf of the human race, not he's present condition or reality he's personally living. This chapter is not about Christians failing to live righteously or like it is normal experience of Christians every day. In 1 Cor 15:31 Paul talks about he's life, where every day is a grate possibility to die (jeopardy, fought with beasts at Ephesus, stoning, shipwreck, peril of waters, peril of robbers, peril in the sea etc)
Hard to be a dead means alive than be a dead man dead? We have to die whole day. Whem you die in the cross you are nailed to it. You can not come dawn. Means that you have in any ocasiation act like a dead. That is the meaning.
Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Interesting choice to say that the "daily renewal" crowd is not christian. Your analysis left out the word "daily". Lukes recounting does not.
Yep and Luke 10:38 Jesus says any who do not are not worthy. Tough words but the Word is a sword sometimes, slicing the inner parts of the soul. Hallelujah
It is not illegal in Iran to BE a christian, it's illegal to convert from Islam to Christianity. I know because I live in Iran and I have converted to Christianity myself. If you don't go around telling people, you're fine.
No. The apostles weren't yet saved at that point, so they couldn't lose their salvation. All of the apostles did ultimately suffer persecution, and all but John died a martyr's death. They did take up their cross and follow Christ.
Could that pastor lose his savation if he denounced Christ ,? I don’t think so we are sealed the moment we believe.theres no undoing salvation he keeps us we didn’t do any thing for it so it stands to reason we can’t do anything to lose it. ( My take On it )
I don't believe it says anywhere in the Bible that once you declare your faith, you are guaranteed salvation no matter what you do with the rest of your life. To choose to have faith in Christ is an everyday choice. People can change their minds and put their faith in worldly things.
It means surrendering your will to God's will. That's why Paul said, "I die daily."

Your understanding of this passage is excellent!

Amen Luke 10:38
I said it before I'll say it again I'm so glad I found the door
There might be some who "pick up their cross" and start their lifes.
BUT
There are many that "pick up that cross" and avoid life.
Totally agree with the scriptures thx pearl

Get the Greek definition for these words

So did the apostles "lose their life/salvation" for not doing that? I'm confused

I don’t agree with this explanation, lol it that’s ok we can still get along. I have learned a lot from no greater joy ministry...👍
