Thank you, Dionne, for clarifying the connection between retail and DEI. I truly appreciate it. I'm also keeping you in my prayers as you navigate through your grief. God bless you.
I stay off the pages and comments. I reserve my energy for my family and what's right in front of me , not arguing with folks on politics. It's amazing to me how much of a divide these things cause. I just got my black history goodies at target and will still be there. As you said, it's a privilege to even shop!! Crazyness ❤
Barbie head with straight blonde hair! I’m older than you, but that’s what we only had to play with. Very rarely would you find a black baby doll! It’s wonderful to see how things have changed for my granddaughters!
I go out of my way to take Riley to places where she feels loved and appreciated. It does something to her self esteem to see dolls that look like her on those shelves…
Thanks for this info, Dionne. We have to do our research when purchasing anything that’s suppose to be for us. There are several people of other persuasions that are marketing black kids books nowadays. Also, some of our black hair products have been bought out by those said other persuasions. I totally agree, continue to shop those stores but do your research before cashing out. ✅
I’ve been working for corporate over 23 years nothing else to say you hit all the major points as expected loved the way u put it if it makes the company money it stays I’ve seen this happen to many times!!!Which may also include dismissal of the the product and the management
Thank you so much. Yeah, at the end of the day these companies want and need to make a company. It’s a shame that these designers and founders will suffer in the wake of all of this…
Hi Dionne. My condolences to you on the loss of your mother. I have been really trying to research and look at my options ever since the pushback of Dei programs. I was very mad at first and with the total boycott. But I knew realistically that it's not going to happen. I appreciate your opinion because you did detail some key points that I may not have taken into consideration. I can see still supporting only black owned businesses and nothing else. I already have a plan as to where to buy hygiene products and groceries going forward. Thank you again for being calm during a time of frustration. ❤
The company’s are for the owners and shareholders not the actual citizens that enter and shop in them. If black owned products are in those establishments we as black, brown and yellow should only shop those brands or items. You shouldn’t enter the store and intentionally shop the companies/store brands. We should give our money or portions of that money to the culture of black, brown and yellow brands. When you enter target, walmart and any other, we should go elsewhere for those items that support our causes. No this is not Selma or the Woolworth counter, but this is our way of respecting them and not turning back to a time that they fought so hard against….
Thank you . I agree with everything you said. We need to be wise and strategic. And thank you for speaking on the elitist rhetoric about telling people not to shop at certain places as if everyone has the options . I also agree with you on some of these initiatives not being profitable . Target's Black History Month last year was a bust compared to prior years and the Latino and Pride months don't do that well the stuff is always on clearance. I will continue to support the minority brands as I always have.
I don't go to target to much ,but the black doll i,will get them their!beautiful, I buy tgin products she from Southfield Michigan and i,live right next door in Detroit, Her hair products are the best to me😊tfs
I agree with you on most of what you are explaining. I will still support OUR Brands. However there is a lot of shelf stock of OTHER brands that are taking up shelf space, that are not being scaled back. These "brands" know who their target demographic groups are. It's a matter of who they will cater to.
I understand and respect your position. Target doesn't want them there. #They need to go up against #Target. They are sabatoging their sales. The brands have been supported and #TARGET just realized that these brands were not making them any money with the ushering in of the new #administration. Shop #Target, make Target richer, regardless of 😊the brands on the shelf. Target sabatoging them and #GIANTS do fall. But do you. This marketing is ruthless, because in my area, they never have, or so their racist employees say, don't have the brands or they are shelved in the back. 😊
I will buy my black owned brand items at Target, but I will no longer do my grocery and large shopping hauls at Target. I don't want the black owned brands to lose shelf space at Target.
Thank you, Dionne, for clarifying the connection between retail and DEI. I truly appreciate it. I'm also keeping you in my prayers as you navigate through your grief. God bless you.

That part! We should 100% be looking into being shareholders. Now that's the next conversation...let's become owners and not just consumers...
I’m going to support them too . I’m sorry for your loss . I didn’t know you loss your mom .
Thank you❤️Yes, she passed at the end of October.

It’s really sad. I feel for the designers whose dream it is/was to have this type of opportunity…

I lovvvvvvve TGIN! I didn't know she had an actual brick and mortar store!
❤️
I think we should buy black brands and support as much as we can😊
I think we should the brands that matter to us ❤️whatever shade they may be.

It’s definitely a calculated move. 🙄

Yes, as consumers, we have the power and position to make the best purchasing decisions for our individual households. We really do hold all the cards
That's why WE have to continue to support BO products so that they want remove them from the shelves.
I agree

Yes, you have to do what sits well with you.
