In the verses of the Koran that were written in Mecca, when Mohammad had few converts and no power, he said there was "no compulsion in religion", "you have your religion I have mine" etc, BUT, as soon as he and his followers moved to Medina and got a little power and control over the Jewish tribes around him, he changed his tune, he began raiding the Caravans of his former tribe of pagans, in retaliation for perceived persecutions when he lived in Mecca and people harassed and made fun of him because of his trying to convert them, the raids became battles and battles became attrocities,(beheading of at least 600 probably more male jews of banu Quraiza tribe, women and children taken as slaves) and Muhammad ended up returning to Mecca with an invading army, the rest is history. Are these really the actions of a peace loving prophet? Later verses of the Koran contain commands to fight jihad until the whole world is under the control of Islam and later verses abrogated earlier verses. All true religions are a path to God, I agree with that, but Islam is not one of them. That does not mean there are not good Muslims, a good person will just take what is good in the Islamic tradition and dismiss the rest as misunderstanding of the Koran, many Black Islamic Americans know nothing of the history of Islamic slave traders in Africa. ( see the video I linked to in an earlier comment on this you tube video)
