That's plini of information
Omg, I know this is so simple, but dang had me laughing so hard!!!
Hahahahaha
you win this time! haha
You guys are pathetic whimps of men.
@@spridle Yes, laughter is pathetic! Real men write angry comments online
Plini is such a great teacher. He explains things in such a calm way & it all makes more sense.
Plus I love how he always looks like he just rolled out of bed.
Wow, how many more episodes of Plini are you guys holding out on us? lol
Rahul Basu seriously
Rahul Basu second that
I third this... they are bleeding them out slowly./..... too slowly.. more plini !!!! :D
I believe Guitar World film series of 4 or 5 at a time.

Studying Plini's music and watching him become so big is a weird feeling. Like watching your friend become your dad. Daddy Plini.
Daddy Plini 😂
He's a Daddy alright. 😏
The guy’s chill is as epic as his playing. Would have loved having him as a teacher when I was starting out.
I look forward to implementing these tips very soon. Amazing that I can take such ingrained patterns and boxes and inject such new life into them with ease. Thank you!
Penatatonic? Never heard about this type of pasta
Jacques Cheminade I thought it was vodka mix
its a kind of sauce, not a pasta
It's vegemite.
I love pentatonic. Great info, Plini.

Making it really short: pick a random chord and A-pentatonic it
Penatatonics C:
Why am I suddenly stoned?
Plini doesn't smoke weed :)
So helpful. So, so, totally helpful.
I love that pentacostic scale
does anybody else love the fact that plini can play basically nothing and still sound amazing, not that a pentatonic is not interesting, but plini, plini izes it and makes takes it to a whole new level... love this guy .
Plinizies. I'm gonna start using this word from now on.
Penatatonics.The pasta scale.
Is that a Chorus effect with delay? Beautiful
Wow - Super chops
god bless him
Just woke up on the side of the street, feelin not in the mood but have an online class to teach. That's Plini.
Very nice
I can hear guthrie and plink talk for hours
Plini. Doesn't belong in the same sentence as Guthrie
John vincent I don't mean to say in the sense of technical ability but in the sense of their actual way and voice of speaking... They are so relaxed and calm when they explain things. I just like the sound of his voice. Of course Guthrie is a god. (Well a god amongst gods). Heck, I wouldn't place plini anywhere near joe sattriani or Steve vai even, Guthrie is another dimension! Plini is really great. But Guthrie is the supreme
Plini is a Kenny G Wannabe who never grew out of his metalcore phase
John vincent lol
a wannabe ?? you cant be serious. also, how many guitar players do you know that compare their ability's like a sporting event ? really, different styles and different inspirations, one does not have to be "better" than another. plini is awesome, Ive seen him play and hes very chill, he even let his backup guitar player lead some of the solos he usually does and communicates a lot with his bandmates when he plays. When they play a show it doesnt look like work at all, it look s like a guy hanging out with his friends having a great time and making great music.
Nice piece o wood
when plini talks about noodling around a riff
Damn Plini!
What great chops!
I like how ace Frehley does the pentatonics.
Badly?
Anthonym shots fired 😂
If I didn't know better, I'd swear Plini never changes his wardrobe & the hairstyle is always exactly the same.
2 years later, outfit same, just longer hair now lol
@@LONGname46 lol!
Plini has this air like he's amused people are talking to him sometimes.
I really liked this lesson, thanks for the mag column and video! One question: why are all references to regular notes when he's really flatted?
I strongly suggest you to think intervals instead of notes!
Tldr: it’s easier to conceptualise when you’re playing when you’re used to e standard tuning if you don’t think about everything being flatted
It’s just one of those things a lot of guitarists do, I do it as well if I’m playing in lowered tunings. I can’t speak for everyone but I myself find it easier to conceptualise everything in e standard even if the strings are tuned lower because I did the bulk of my learning in e standard and the relative intervals between the strings are all the same, I always end up tripping over myself mentally if I think about every note being flatted. If I just think about everything in e standard then I still think about and play everything as I normally would, it just comes out of the guitar sounding lower but I don’t have to think about it any differently. This kind of thinking doesn’t apply to alternate tunings like drop d where the intervals between the strings are different but it helps for standard tunings other than e
@@AchingGibbon450 Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. I guess I would have assumed those schooled in music theory would refer to the proper key, but I almost always see it in the key of E (including Guitar Word tabs). I am not far schooled in music theory but I do tend to reference the actual note/root/chord when I do discuss with other people.
+ Keep teaching, wow! +
It was entertaining to hear him call that off-pair of notes "disgusting." Even he looked like he was getting away with something when he said it.
Repurpose to modes! Haha, just kidding. Love that Strandberg, dude. Damn, and a big picture of Jimmy, you can't go wrong. That dude can write. I'm sure you've heard Ten Years Gone and such, just from another realm.
Some of my favorite moments in life are when I accidentally end up in disgusting but really cool musical situations.
2:36 ok pls make a shoegaze album
I find aussies/kiwis to be great teachers. Very straight forward.
We're simple folks mate
3:50...strange foot hand 🤣
Wow it does look like a foot!💀👣
😱
Is he talking about different pentatonic patterns and not only the first pattern?
With a little finger like this everything is easy 😀
Thumbs up!! =)
Vixen Vendetta i see you everywhere

Penatatonic, nice.
Penatatonic?
what is a guitar?
sorry this might sound really daft, but how is he playing the F major chord on the third fret? if the root is on the E or the A string then doesnt he have to play it from the 1st of the 9th fret respectively? maybe this would be easier if i wasnt high right now
Drop d tuning boi
David Sim I'm answering the original question which was how he was playing an f chord on the third fret. The questioner assumed it was standard tuning thus "if the root is on the E or the A string then doesn't he have to play it from the 1st or the 9th fret respectively?" You are correct in the notes that make up an fmaj7 chord, but that however doesn't inform the original question how he is able to for a few shape on the third fret. :)
David Sim sure
there is a mode for that. i can't remember what the mode is.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's Lydian. Or maybe Mixo-lydian?
How long are your fingers!!?
I can't wait to learn the penatatonic scale !
His god damn alien fingers almost look like they have an extra joint between his PIP and DIP joints.
"Penatatonics" in the thumbnail
How long are his fingers
FlashCE about 4 inches
Source: i met him
yeah, hand wise his hands are not abnormal really, he just has a lot of dexterity
Ask your sister
Dude his pinky is nuts though, look how long that sucker is
Omg you have a skeleton hands. No wonder you’re so good!
What guitar is that?!?!
matthew orge its a Strandberg Plini Boden OS I believe
What is the guitar tuning?
Drop D .
MrDmadness thank you
:)
Came to see PENATATONICS, only had pentatonics...
Ok quick question wtf is penatatonics

is he tuned to drop D?
in this video, yes... he is droning the d ( usually in standard an E ) and playing the pentatonic below it using standard tuning. You see this when he talks about " D " and then drones the low string as im sure you are referencing. I will note that i only watched it once so my observation assumes some things ( did not look at the fret notes below the dropped E string ) your observation that the lowest string is tuned to open D is correct. :)
I think so too specially when he referred to that chord being F maj7 when actually the position looked like a G major in standard tuning
i like to pretend i know what he is saying
there's nothing groundbreaking about anything he said
At first I thought this was John Mayer video but then I realize the guitar 😂
I never knew I even had penatatonics ...
I wanna know what's on his effects loop for the second part of the video
That chorus sound is the tits
Is this the guy from the Ant-man movies?
😄
Is he tuned a half step down
yes
2:47 he's grabbing F on an open tuning. Haha how are you going to do that with that finger on- hey what's your pinky doing- OH MY GOD
I think Plini used Drop Db at this point, I could be wrong though
Plinitonics
i guess hes talking about superimposition of pentatonics
A min pentatonic over Bbmaj7. You're welcome.
Danny Anaya that's one that tosin does in one of his master classes, defs worth a look
V-neck not djenty enough!
Oh I thought that was a young Paul Masvidale
Plini is awesome, but Textures off of cynic - focus was the song that started my journey down instrumental music... also the first guy i ever saw playing a headless guitar. :)
Plintatonic scale
Plintatonics
his hair is like einstein's hair.
Plini=Daddy
+1
but the thumb nail says penatatonic not pentatonic. pls change it guitar world
The typo at the thumbnail make this video clickbaity
Ease up on the rim lighting. Nobody needs an ear halo.
Nick Williamson haha i actually like that
Fair enough mate!
What a weird complaint lmao
@@RudyAyoub Haha I love finding you in random parts of youtube because it ruins my day!
I would love that guitar a lot more if it had a head stock on it. It looks unfinished.
jonnyQuest that's the way it's meant to be. If it had a headstock, it would neck dive like crazy due to how small the body is. I do think it would look cool with the Music Man headstock though.
That makes sense, it would be top heavy and unbalanced with a headstock on it. I love the body shape. Kind of reminds me of Reb Beach's guitar: goo.gl/images/gLXboS
you either love or hate headless, I used to hate them but they have grown on me some.. i still do prefer a headstock though... personally.
Pentatonic scale doesnt sound intriguing in progressive stuff... but somehow David Gilmour or even Alex Lifeson for that matter make pentatonic scale work wonders in prog music. At least to my ears. I dnt knw.
It seems like his adrenaline level is so low by the way he speaks.
Drugs.
i really think he needs to slow down. too much caffeine.
I think you have the wrong idea about what "adrenaline" is and the purpose it serves.
@@VictorZamanian i highly doubt that
He probably doesn't feel like his life is in danger, soooo... That makes sense
spider crawler modes swamp with effects...just play Merry Christmas...
what?
Great lesson ,but I hate headless guitars.
cast390 hahahahaja and who cares?
Why plini face look like pewdiepie ?
Penatatonic? Must be a quality video.
lmao
PENANATONICS are almost as cool as pentatonics.
Wow! That was disgusting but really cool!
penatatonic.
like the elon musk of playing guitar
The world famous Plini... Lol... Bring back Alex Skolnick!
why even douche out a douchey comment like this on a plini video? are you dense ? \
@@johnvincent1823 proof?
What's a Plini? Some kind of teen pop star?
gay
Nobody asked you to announce your sexual orientation.
disgusting lol
Weirdest guitar out there still
I don't like hearing you play the pentatonic. Don't do that ever again
I like Plini. I own some of his albums and watched this video, and others. But his mindset is wrong. He thinks his progressive influences outshine the influences that he started out with. Nothing will ever beat jazz and the blues. Don’t overthink it. Jam. New age guitar players don’t know how to jam.
There’s more go in a morgue 😴 most uninteresting guy on earth
