Rural Ilos = large ranches. I watch a lot of ppl thru-hiking the Arizona Trail and Continental Divide Trail (in New Mexico) and there are just these big ranches in the rural areas. Nothing fancy along those trails; some cattle and a few water troughs mostly. But Americans love their land and to have space around them, so I wouldn't break up the rural bits too much. It also seems that ppl who live in really rural areas don't mind having long drives to get to services. So I'd see a few two-lane -- possibly dirt roads -- that eventually connect back to the suburbs or a smaller town at some point. Great build, Egg! Glad I was able to catch at least a few minutes of the premier. 🧡
I love a railway heavy episode. So good to see the metro and the train roads get together like that. It's always satisfying to watch cims go from one transport to the other as well. I'm still in Noveria gang but Ilos is definitely growing on me. Great episode Egg and thank you for the video!
I'm from Phoenix. If you follow the diagonal road out (Hwy 60/Grand Ave), that is the way to Las Vegas. But, it runs through a little cowboy town called Wickenburg that could be a fun small build for the edge of the map. - Also, I know people have talked a lot about Casinos, lookup "Talking Stick Resort." It is a casino with golf course/Top Golf and sits on the Indian Reservation (Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community).
Never had an issue with train station parking lots but CPP had a similar issue and it was because he had used BOB and removed parking from another asset which removed it from all parking lots regardless of type
This is SUCH a cute build, well worth watching again! All the crossings over th highway are so cool to look at, and I'm still in love with that sweeping exit ramp, it's just so well done. The little European assets and that oblong parking lot are all the spices too, it just works together so very nicely. Happy I watched this one again and it gives me some inspiration for more trains in my city, which I tend to foreget about. Thank you as always, Egg, for Ilos. Makes me (and so many others) so very happy!!! 😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ohhh videos like this are my moments of Zen as a certain comedian would say. I love watching transit or cargo hubs, seeing the detailing how you and others manage to make it look and flow so pretty. Then I go in the game and when I sit down to do them, I end up with train stops with 1500 waiting passengers totally panicking why I can't get it to work, move and fiddle with roads for 3+ hours and then realizing that the traffic just represents my scattered mind 😋 At least in Foundation ( which I really love you are playing now as well ) I can't really mess up the traffic that much ( But the AI is a bit weird in it which you might discover soon ) and it has had me sitting up to 2am the last couple of days having fun in it 🙄
I looked forward to watching this all day, and finally did so after the livestream, and it did not disappoint! That sweeping exit from the highway over to the mall block made me ridiculously happy and I do not know why lmao! This city has brought me joy from the teaser video whenever you put that out, and it continues to do so every single episode! I especially love the Satruday live streams and getting to have input on the build, and you are remarkably kind in responding to so many people in the chat. Lovely video as always, Egg. Thanks so much! 💘(PS fence gang teamed up with hedge gang this time, very nice!)
Wow, You have come far from the 5B1C build, where you had trouble with Move it and other mods. City is looking great, and realistic. I think, I will start to watch the series from the beginning, now that I'd more time to watch things.
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG they’re all for that 5 building complex. It’s an IT-related facility for a very large company, so it has a LOT of employees. Mass transit over in that part of Phoenix is pretty terrible, so everybody drives in. Hence the massive amounts of parking. Most, if not all, of those lots will be filled on a typical work day.
I absolutely hate sand and snow maps. I just don't feel like the game is designed in a way to really make those biomes unique at all... However, watching your builds on those biomes are incredibly enjoyable and inspiring. The music you choose it perfect for the videos... Amazing job.
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Absolutely, I just don't think the game as a whole lends itself well to the snow, and the implementation felt really lazy and rushed... All the same I watch all your content, biome be damned.
Hey Egg, anpother great build. Did you notice that you set up NAR only on the station, but you did use the normal train track for the curve around the highway
One thing that can help with traffic in an Commuter (internal), and regional/cross-country (external) is generally more tracks. I'm gonna cite Chicago Union, and Penn Central for my examples (based off the vibes of this city). You'll generally (to the dismay of your citizens, but the rail was there first, so their opinion is void) need a LARGE area of land. Usually .50 o .75 square miles of land. This is to support your own equipment, (locomotives, passenger cars, maintenance vehicles), an area to sort cars and store cars (at least 2 tracks), a place for Amtrak to pull in (they wont need more than 1 track at a time depending on frequency, but no more than 2), and the obvious track to connect the "Internal" & "external" tracks in-case the internal service gets new cars, locomotives, or other basic needs (ballast, rail, ties, switch panels, etc.). In general you'll only need less than .50 square miles at the most compact, and it should mitigate the amount of traffic. If that does not work, in places (Chicago), the lines are sometimes triple, or quadruple tracked. But you do you, from here I'm gonna watch the city grow and become a subscribe. Hopefully you find some use for this information. Nice to see another city that is not (currently) a concrete jungle. Now for my criticism: I have always had my rail networks planed before I start a city. Same with highways, arterial roads, and collector roads. Usually it takes me a day or two to go from blank as is map to infrastructure being in place, then another 2 or 3 to plan neighborhoods, business districts, and industrial sections. The reason for this is to mitigate as much traffic in all aspects as possible. When it comes to rail, unless it's a small terminal railway serving one industrial park, or in an area in which traffic usually does not build up, I find my self using the Deutsche Bahn (or DB, or as I so lovingly call it DeutscheReiches Bahn) doctrine of sinking/raising roads, and keeping freight separate from passenger rail as much as possible. One thing MANY UA-camr's get wrong (except a few) is how rail generally does not change in location, despite how "Inconvenient" it is (hence paragraph above). Some lines are abandoned, but generally, they don't move since they've been laid. A good example of conflict between rail, and land owners where the initial westward expansions of many railroads during the 1860's. Most of the original Transcontinental railroad is still in place, with some area's boasting upwards of 50 to 70 trains a day. And it's not the Union Pacific Transcon that's unique to this, the Hill Lines (Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Chicago Burlington & Quincy, Spokane Portland and Southern), the Santa Fe, and the Southern Pacific all had there own too. Only the ol' Milwaukee Road Western Expansion was fully A: sold off, or B: abandoned. Sorry, big history nerd, esp when it comes to railroads, and WW2.
Liked the med center loop and hashing, but you realize you didn't use one way road on loop, so cars will cross over the nice hashing you added? Neat storage unit idea.
I've used the CCP train stations many times, but have not had the problem with the missing parking spaces. They have always been there for me. I have numerous mods enabled but could still be a mod issue. I've had some weird behavior in my cities lately, but not that one.
Not sure if anyone said it, but lock the forestry on tree anarchy so trees don’t remove the painted resource. Love Ilos, waiting for my new mobo so I can download this map :)
Do you have any plans for a golf course build? Phoenix, and the whole desert for that matter, has lots of beautiful golf courses. Rural or in the city I think it would be a very nice build for Ilos. That’s northwest flat part of the map could be a good spot for one

Ilos is looking absolutely amazing! Those aerial views are breathtaking, the themed squares make for a really neat vibe.
I'm always in for some pedestrian traffic! Mixed use builds are so fun to build, and to watch you build as well! Thanks for the early stream.
