All I have to say is I can't thank you enough for posting this video!! My key was stuck for close to 2 years until today! I have spent close to$2000 in estimates from numerous mechanic and locksmiths would not touch it :/ I had also lost my only door key as well - I have been stranded numerous times from it draining my battery--- I ordered a new cylinder from rockauto and had it repaired in less than 20 min I was also able to get my old key out of old ignition despite fact a locksmith said the didn't know how to get it out . I was able to in about 5 min - so now I have door key as well. You have no idea how much stress and embarrassing moments this has lifted from me. Thanks again for posting this
mine was stuck in lock position and I watched your video... wiggling it worked and I can now replace it. I wish I had watched it before I broke the steering wheel cover because I couldn't get to the 2 screws behind the steering wheel but I'm happy to be able to diagnose and repair so thankyou for posting
Thanks for the info. I bought a junker of an aveo that I'm fixing up and it has to have the ignition replaced also. This video was super helpful and I am planning a trip to gm to get the parts to do the job. Thanks.
I know the car well!! I bought one in 2008 got rid of it in 2010. Won't go into details but it was the scariest vehicle that I ever drove over my driving years. It was white in colour and seemed many people had trouble seeing me and had some close encounters. I bought a black Ford Ranger have not had that trouble since.
I have a 2009 Aveo sedan 1.4L. The majntenance manual that I received with the car says that you must replace a complete timing kit every 60K km. The kit consists of (timing belt + pulley + tentioner). I've seen a video on youtube the plastic pulley cracked into pieces which damaged the engine even though the timing belt is still intact. So better safe than sorry.
Shawn I enjoy seeing what you are up to but don't burn yourself out posting videos. Definitely not complaining about your latest videos. Just don't quit cold turkey.
With immobilizer its said tp do a 10 min on 5 seconds off to reprogram.. But its not been workong for us. Has worked on Chevy 1500 before many times same process.. Any tips
Most cars even a cheapy like that probably has remote entry nowadays so having a different key isn't really a big deal, only time you'd really need the door key is if the battery was dead in the remote or car

What if the key is stuck on....?
Tengo un problema con mi corro Optra le doy arranque y no enciende solo cuando le suelto la llave
I miss being able to turn off the door chime with the switch in the door jam.
I hate chimes
I can't turn it to acc it's stuck
Cut a notch in the plastic on one of them to differentiate.
That works
Disconnect battery
