I guess it's difficult for keeping guitarists from playing the blues. I usually see that guitar players can't incorporate the blues into their playing, they mostly play either the blues or something else.
I agree! Thanks for watching
When I play around with blues I like to use a major 6 chord quite a bit as the one chord then vary between a major and minor blues scale. Sometimes using a mixolydian scale with blue notes on the third and fifth.
Great approaches, David! Thanks for sharing
Brilliant lesson Ben, these videos have been great
Thanks Andreas!
great lesson Ben, those bends are sweet
So glad you liked it!
Going to have to investigate that Howlin Wolf album
It's a classic!
My very intermediate approach (if anything) is, in addition to playing one minor pentatonic scale over various chords I like to play various minor pentatonic scales (i.e., from 3rd, 6th or 7th scale degree) over just one chord, i.e., maj7, through a looper with a chill drum groove. This lets me explore the different colours. I experiment what blue notes and slide-ones might sound good while trying to understand what notes I'm playing. Ideally I play the various scales in one area of the fretboard using different pentatonic boxes. The fact is, at some point one has to depart from playing riffs over and over again and start digging deeper.
Just great 💯
Thanks!
Great stuff….thx👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for watching!
Great! Also Em scale fits over C/D as at end of Little Wing...
👌👌
Thanks so much!
Lots of good information. What is the make and model of your guitar?
Thanks so much! It's a Frank Brothers guitar: www.frankbrothersguitars.com/
Thanks, I will check them out.
I learned by my Dad...John lee Hooker. Muddy Waters, Sonny Terry, Bo Diddley...I was 8. Then a neighbor 5 yrs older exposed me to ALL urban; BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, which led to all English players, Duanne Allman Dickey Betts... Jeff Beck playing Goodbye Pork pie Hat is to die for....Cream era Clapton live........Ben, I love mixing major minor and chromatic scales....TALK VIBRATO.... Trower like BB, rapid Clapton, wide like SCHENKER, Holdsworth slow horn like classical violin style.... Dorian I do a lot.
I like you L.A. Jay Graydon/Larry Carlton...bend choice reminds me of Gambale. I bought FGambale Live the week it came out in summer of 1988...
I digress. I could go on and on, Ben.
Thanks so much for sharing! All brilliant players
Why are slash chords like G/F in the video often written as G/F and not G7/F? To make it more confusing? hahah
They mean the exact same thing so it’s not that important
Fair point! But in this case, the voicing specifically shows a G triad over an F bass note, so it's G/F
F is the flatted 7th so it probably doesn’t need repeating?
