And Stephen ridings aswell....... My man great video ...... hopefully this goes fr your mouth to hals pocket book.....would love that offseason plan .... hopefully we could free up a little more money and get rodon too
Thanks Dan for the vid. Pitching-wise I would have to go with Carlos Rodon and maybe Gregory Soto from the Tigers just to have more lefties. Cole, Nestor, Sevy and Rodon would be a great starting rotation with Montas, German and Schmidt as the 5th day guy. Soto reinforces the back end of the bullpen and adds a lefty.
Regarding Murphy and Trevino -- unfortunately a lot of Trevino's value may be up in the air once automated strike zones come into play in 2024 or after.
There's a huge part of me that calls this a pipe dream, just from the way the Yankees have been the last few off-seasons. That being said: I think we need to make Dan special advisor because unlike so many other blueprint videos, this is reasonable, practical, and well within the realm of possibility. I'd be thrilled if we opened up 2023 with that lineup and rotation
Scratch Turner, because we all know that one isn't happening (sadly), and sign Carlos Rodon. Getting one more really good starter would make me feel really great about our pitching staff. I'm sure we'll re-sign Benintendi because of the reasons mentioned in the video, and I have high hopes we'll be keeping Judge too. I highly doubt the Murphy trade happens but it would be nice. Donaldson doesn't seem to be going anywhere (rip to all of our sanities) but we can definitely trade Torres for a starting pitcher or prospects. All in all, it's a great video and a wonderful fantasy of what an offseason with The Boss in charge would look like
I love this blueprint. Would be amazing if they could do something close to this. Only change I would make is trade Gleyber before trading for Murphy so you have more prospects to work with.
Lineup should be Turner, Benny, Judge, Rizzo, G, DJ, Bader, Murphy, Volpe. High on base and speed on top, power in the middle with contact and speed at the bottom
I think I’d rather trade for Austin Nola than Sean Murphy. The yanks need contact bats, which Nola provides, and he’d cost way less so we could keep guys like Peraza.
I agree and have been saying the same thing. This is what Yankees fans need to understand when cashman tries lying to fans that it can't be done. I literally have this exact blueprint on paper. I love your thought process great job👍
Yesssssss!!! I’ve been saying this guys name forever. Yankees should’ve been all over Trea turner at the 2021 deadline with scherzer. If the Yankees would of trade for him, he would make the same amount of money as Josh Donaldson with better offense and youth and then we wouldn’t have to make the trade and keep Gio urshela at third. But Cashman is clueless. We are in need of a leadoff hitter who hit for average, steal bases and a short stop. He’s the perfect fit to get the Yankees over the top.
I have been saying the same thing about Torres for while. And agree with both Turner and Benintendi. They need guys that can get on base, and play some small ball. They many guys trying to hit homeruns (Torres one of them). Swag for contact, and getting on base. Where we differ is on the return for Torres, someone might have an 1 or 2 arm available.
this would be a dream team to have honestly but knowing cashman and hal, especially cashman, i have a feeling they wont make a huge splash. judge will be the only huge splash this offseason but adding turner would be amazing
3:00. The Yankees can sign Judge to 8 years/ $320 Million, but his contract can be back loaded (like many contracts are!) I can see him making $35 million this year and then have the million at the back end of the contract. I always loved Roger Clemens helping the Yankees out by having $10 million of his contract paid at $1 million a year over 10 years AFTER his contract was up. He built in his own retirement fund and helped the Yankees stay under the luxury tax cap for 2 seasons.
Trevino is the platinum glove winner in the AL. The catcher is valued more for defense than any other position. He’s the starter on any team in the MLB. Even if he hits .200, he can bat 9th, and still provide incredible value to the team.
Your moves are excellent. You should apply to be Cashman's assistant. The deal you suggested for Turner is actually a tad less than what Texas gave Seager. Don't you think Turner will want a better deal? What about the Japanese player, Yoshida? He might sign for the same or less than Benintendi, but will provide more power and equal defense.
I love this analysis! Michael and Don seemed to think that Turner and Judge are mutually exclusive-if we keep Judge then Turner won’t happen. I lean toward your argument. I also like how you’ve got us keeping some prospects but unloading others. You’ve made Volpe untouchable which I like. No freakin way I’m giving up all that for Murphy who slightly better than what we have. Need a better starting pitcher. Who knows what we get from Montas. German can always serve as a good backup in the rotation.

Dan "The Man" Rouke blessing us again with another off-season video and the thumbs up button has been smashed 👍. Priority #1. RESIGN JUDGE!!! In my opinion he should play his entire career with the Bronx Bombers. I agree 100% with Hicks and Donaldson. Rizzo maybe $25 million, but trading Gleber is definitely a tough one. Andrew bat was definitely missed during the playoffs.
If the Yankees fill in the the 3B,SS and LF spots with say Correa or Turner,Volpe and Masataka Yoshida they can afford to stay with Trevino in their lineup as their won’t be as many offensive holes like this year…But if the can get Murphy,im all for it,just don’t want to give up too much bc our trades for those young studs from Oakland haven’t really planned out for us in past trades…
The plan is a great one with the exception of the money, rizzo could have option in for 19 million next year, why would he settle for 15 million, that’s going backwards, rizzo is going to want between 22 or 25 million a year for at least 5 years minimum, so 15 is not a realistic number, which in turns takes 10 more off that saving, but overall I love the blue print, I would have went Wilson at catcher though.
i was upset when you got to the trade of perazza for the catcher ... BUT ... as you went along .. it made more sense ... i woudl sign up for that team in a hearbeat ... would be sick ..
LOVED this video Dan... I honestly highly doubt we'll get rid of both Donaldson and Hicks... I can see Gleyber and IKF not being here at the beginning of the season... a TREA move would absolutely change the roster too. I think Carlos Rodon would give us a rotation that makes a statement w Cole, Rodon, Sevy, Nestor, Montas... King will also be good to for Opening Day, and I don't see Luetge coming back
Donaldson is the opening day 3B for sure. He wasn't very good but he didn't deserve the hate from the Yankee fans. Hopefully he gets off to a good start and wins over some people.
@@pimbres honestly man, I could understand the frustration because of what we expected from this guy… but defensively it was good having him at third. I’m also hoping for a comeback season cause I need me some bench clearing moments from JD 😂
I agree with a lot of these moves Dan. The lineup looks pretty damn good, but this is too good to be true. The management is too stupid to see it this way. They really want to keep Donaldson. I hope he does so bad that they trade him before June. He's too old for the playoffs.
Who will be in Volpe’s spot for the first month or so if the year. We also will have Michael King back by mid season so I find it a little bit of a waste to trade for a reliever
I have been saying we should acquire Murphy, as well .. In my OOTP23 sim, I was able to trade Donaldson for Murphy in multiple scenarios, Oakland needs a 3B .. in the trade I had to cover about half of Josh's salary and include 1 of our top pitching prospects: Beeter, Gil, or Gomez .. in order for Oakland to take on more of Donaldson's salary, we would have to include 1 or 2 additional prospects, but I'm not trading Cabrera, Volpe, or Dominguez .. if Peraza was needed to seal the deal then Oakland better cover all of Josh's tab .. but trading Donaldson to get that contract off our books and acquire one of the best catcher's available in Sean Murphy would definitely be a good trade imo!!
Also agree on Rizzo, even though I don't like the idea of a 3-5 year contract, if that's what's needed then do it .. I bet the changes in the shift will benefit him, as well .. I also agree on Benintendi but that could be a pricey contract, but again worth it imo .. add in the option for Sevy and brining Harrison Bader back, these are all the moves I did on multiple scenarios in my OOTP23 sims immediately, so I had to comment when I came across your video! As for SS, I actually tried signing Turner but it was difficult after the large Judge contract since other teams were offering huge multi-year deals .. not sure our front office would sign 2 huge contracts like that .. he definitely would be a great fit, and could play 2B/SS and possibly 3B .. the other option is a 1 year deal for Turner or Xander Bogaerts, allowing Volpe some more time before he gets called up at the end of the year in September and most likely ready to go in 2024 .. however, if there is no Turner/Bogaerts/SS signing, then I would keep Gleyber around, especially if Peraza is needed to get Murphy. for the bullpen, I would bring back Chad Green for a multi year deal .. he's been clutch for so long and deserves it even though he will likely miss most of 2023; slight chance he's back for the 2nd half .. the additional arm I would sign is Tommy Kahnle for a decent price .. and if Castro would sign for a cheap deal, would help add to bullpen depth .. but I don't think any large investments are needed for that part of the roster. Great vid!!
I like a lot of this especially signing trea Turner cause we can play him either at 2nd or short. I also like the rotation and think that’s where the Yankees are going, I’m not like most yankee fans who hate montas I think he’s worth giving a chance in the rotation. The Murphy trade I don’t see happening unless the Yankees need him at the trade deadline I think they like Trevino and there gonna not bring back higashioka and instead use rortvedt. Also there’s no was they can get anything out of trading hicks and Donaldson they’d have to either eat up a bunch of the contract or trade a top prospect with them. Also I don’t see them signing both Turner and Beninntendi
I wouldn't make the Murphy deal and I doubt the Yankees will either. If they shell out for Turner, expect a fire sale on Volpe and all the infield prospects. They may even be able to get an elite arm. I like the idea of restocking the farm with a Torres trade but Donaldson will most likely be the starting 3B since it sounds like Cashman is expecting to get 2021 production out of him and he can still play his position. I also doubt the Yankees don't bring in a real closer and a back end starter. This is all blown up if some team offers Judge $350M+, which is an almost likely scenario at this point. But that would give the Yankees a lot of budget to acquire two big upgrades elsewhere.
I honestly never even considered a catcher upgrade, but now that you mention it, it sounds like a great idea, especially looking at Murphy's stats. However I would rather include Torres in that trade, or maybe instead use Sweeney, Arias and/or Cabrera (I'm not exactly sure how teams value those guys), and keep Peraza so that he can play SS. Then with the money saved by having Peraza at SS, sign someone like Carlos Rodon to give us just a ridiculous starting rotation. Montas or German starting a playoff game against the Astros is not a comfortable thought. Then offer maybe Gleyber and Wells for Scott Barlow, although that may not be realistic. Baseball Trade Values says that Murphy for Sweeney, Cabrera, Periera, and Florial is not enough, but has a reasonable probability to be accepted, and I think it would. It also says that Torres and Wells for Barlow has a high probability to be accepted and Torres and Arias for Barlow is a fair deal. Maybe this is not reasonable or puts too much faith in one prospect (Peraza), but I'd prefer that to signing Turner tbh It just seems silly to me to trade someone who looked great at SS (in limited playing time admittedly) for a player that, while he would be great and an upgrade, isn't at a severe position of need. I'd rather spend money on a pitcher, especially since Severino has injury concerns and Cortes has been getting his innings limited. Volpe would still play 2B, which would give the Yankees a lineup of: 1 - Benintendi LF 2 - Judge RF 3 - Rizzo 1B 4 - Stanton DH 5 - DJ LeMahieu 3B 6 - Peraza SS 7 - Murphy C 8 - Bader CF 9 - Volpe 2B (I expect he'll move up quite quickly, perhaps to 6th, and maybe even be higher later in his career) With a rotation of: 1 - Cole 2 - Rodon 3 - Nestor 4 - Sevy 5 - Montas with German as either a long reliever or starter to limit Nestor and Sevy's innings for the playoffs
Overall, I really like it. The only things I would change is instead of getting Murphy, I would give Wells the call. I would also be open to trying to get Rodon and trading Montas. Finally, I really, really, really want Judge back, but I'm not counting on it, so I think we should lock up Oswaldo Cabrera long term, like what the Braves have done with their young guys.
I like most of these moves. I think Benintendi will cost more than what you think and I’d rather see them add a rotation arm like Rodon than Murphy. Keep in mind they still have Wells in the minors and Rorverdt to go along with Trevino. You can never have too much starting pitching and I need one more playoff caliber arm in the Bronx

Great video! I really don’t think Cashman will ho out and get another ss but it makes so much sense.

I like the way you think.
Dan the front office man
I like it, except for send off Peraza. If Torres could be subbed for Peraza (pipe dream!) then I would love it.
What about Oswaldo Cabrera?
6 - "Clubhouse presence." Ahhhh...my favorite. Saved for aging players who underperform. But but but...the CLUBHOUSE!
Nice Dan nice
But I’m not sure about TTurner. Heard that he prefer Phillies
I have a feeling that Yankees may use rortvedt as a backup catcher
Turner essential in my opinion.
Who will be in Volpe’s spot for the first month or so if the year. We also will have Michael King back by mid season so I find it a little bit of a waste to trade for a reliever
Dan you’re giving us hope… we all know our management is too stupid to do anything good… we won’t even get judge back
Turner definitely at SS
Great vid!!
You forgot that Stephen Ridings will be back next year, that kid can throw !

This comment aged well😂
Absolutely cannot believe they let him walk to Queens. unbelievable.
But that would give the Yankees a lot of budget to acquire two big upgrades elsewhere.
i will pray for this to happen hahaha, i rather have DJ coming of the bench tough, i will put cabrera at 3B.
What would we do with Oswaldo? I feel like his talent is too good to be on the bench
That lineup at the end is one of the better ones in Baseball. If that were to happen they might beat the Astros
I am ok with all of that. Would mean that Montas and German would have to step up big time in what could be a dominate rotation.
Maybe this is not reasonable or puts too much faith in one prospect (Peraza), but I'd prefer that to signing Turner tbh
It just seems silly to me to trade someone who looked great at SS (in limited playing time admittedly) for a player that, while he would be great and an upgrade, isn't at a severe position of need. I'd rather spend money on a pitcher, especially since Severino has injury concerns and Cortes has been getting his innings limited. Volpe would still play 2B, which would give the Yankees a lineup of:
1 - Benintendi LF
2 - Judge RF
3 - Rizzo 1B
4 - Stanton DH
5 - DJ LeMahieu 3B
6 - Peraza SS
7 - Murphy C
8 - Bader CF
9 - Volpe 2B (I expect he'll move up quite quickly, perhaps to 6th, and maybe even be higher later in his career)
With a rotation of:
1 - Cole
2 - Rodon
3 - Nestor
4 - Sevy
5 - Montas
with German as either a long reliever or starter to limit Nestor and Sevy's innings for the playoffs
volpe plays ss
We have Mike King for the pen, had a great year until he got hurt
I was just thinking why wasn’t King mentioned? Otherwise good moves
You should have put Extend Bader in that budget
U didn’t mention anything about rizzo what u think about him what if he leaves
Did a whole section on Rizzo haha
The only question I have is what to do about Chad Green?
I like most of these moves. I think Benintendi will cost more than what you think and I’d rather see them add a rotation arm like Rodon than Murphy. Keep in mind they still have Wells in the minors and Rorverdt to go along with Trevino. You can never have too much starting pitching and I need one more playoff caliber arm in the Bronx
