This applies to the SNRI meds also: Cymbalta, Effexor, Pristiq to name just three.

I wonder if PSSD becomes like that because the patient that has sexual dysfunctions during treatment becomes fixated on the problem causing psychological issues that continue after the suspension of the SSRI. Also the emotional blunting could lead to sexual problems itself. It's hard to get aroused when your mind is not working properly so that could be another reason for PSSD to happen. Sometimes I wonder if it could also caused by the depression itself that comes back after discontinuing. I heard that depression could cause itself sexual problems. Idk I'm just putting some ideas down there. I suffer from PSSD and I'm trying to find a way out. I have genital numbness, emotional blunting, cognitive impairment, loss of libido and performance anxiety.
In my experience, cognitive behavioral therapy used to treat Post SSRIs sexual dysfunction are largely inefficacious. Unfortunately, for a majority of the people with it, there are epigenetic changes in the brain and possibly even hormonal alterations that will not abate from cognitive therapies.

@@CryptoVinceTeam oh absolutely I’m sure a certain percentage of people have psychogenic PSSD, so to speak. I know you weren’t trying to intentionally dismiss anybody symptoms. I think that is a fair thing to say.
1.5 years ago I took Escitalopram 10 mg and clonazepam 0.5 mg for 3 months and then stopped ! After stopping them....when I did sex I didn't feel any excitement when I touched girls body ! When girl touched my penis and suck it in her mouth I felt full pleasure Erection excitement and when I do masturbation I feel full pleasure Erection excitement and orgasm but when I try to touch n press girls body I feel nothing.... totally numbness ! I have pssd, since taking my antidepressants my sex is no more dead below the waist I've had numerous treatments to combat e d to no avail and my relationship with my wife is extremely suppressed...😢

What you don’t get is that most of your problems will start once you quit it.

If you know what’s good for you; quit sertraline IMMEDIATELY BUT PROGRESSIVELY.
Otherwise you’ll just cripple your brain and become suicidal.
The longer you persist taking it, the more likely you’ll get premature ejaculation, anorgasmia and constant fatigue.
Better option is trazodone (safest).
And the best and safest so far is transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

The most important part is not to take it while you’re still young and your brain is still forming, till more or less 24 years old.
I didn't stop it progressively. I quit it only because i couldn't feel ANYTHING. Its been 2 years.
I remember feeling numbness during the first weeks of taking sertraline.

Of course PSSD exists. Every psychiatrist accepts antipsychotics slow movement, you can see it, no one doubts the existence of tardive dyskinesia, the disfiguring involutary movements of the face that persist LONG AFTER the antipsychotic is stopped. Not every one gets tardive dykinesia. Not every one gets PSSD. Not everyone cries when they are drunk. Psychiatrists have so much to learn. Psychiatrists, please listen to your patients.

I got PSSD from Doxycycline!!! It was the only thing I took when this happened to me and ibuprofen, but I doubt ibuprofen did this to me.

I just started taking sertraline and hope I dont get this. So far I haven't experienced any major side effects. Ive been making sure I can get erected but I dont ejaculate bc I dont really feel like it 😂. If I am one of the unlucky people that develops this I guess Ill be taking SSRIs for the rest of my life.

I never got it from sertraline or Zoloft whatever you wanna call it , been off it exactly a year , only thing I can say is I haven't had ssx in almost 8 months, I don't have issues with erection or ejaculation, but it did put me in a lonely spot to where I don't want to look for sex or date

Peroxatine caused me to be completely unable to feel any pleasure from sex and I couldn't ejaculate at all. After moving on to Fluoxetine It didn't improve much, I was on it for around 20 years and I haven't experienced an orgasm since my early 20s. I also had my testosterone production stopped by Atorvastin and or Metformin.
