My Grandfather and then my Dad owned an old country store in Ottenheim Kentucky when i was growing up. Wow what great memories and experiences. Gathering place for the community. Such good times.
Dang, that chilli dog looks good, but that burger, man, my mouth was droolin, , great vid as always you two!!!. Make me home sick all the time watching your vids!
My dad was born in Braxton county but moved away in 60s . My wife and i moved here in 2000 and would never live anywhere else. Live 12 miles from nearest small town and love these kind of older stores .
Looks good..I'm from southeastern ky...this brings back a lot of memories from the 70s...you could find little stores like this everywhere..and we had so many great hot dogs 🌭..on every corner you could get one..I never tasted a bad one...my grandmother would love to go to the drug stores and have a dog...my favorite is slaw dog...I remember we had a drive in called Justice drive in...very popular and I have yet to this day found hot dog chili that comes close...after the 77 flood it shut down and they took their secret recipe with them..nobody knows it tobthis day unless of course it was handed down in the family but they've sure kept it a secret...if I ever travel that way I will be sure and stop in for a dog or 2 or 3..lol
I love that part of the Country. My Mom was from Cumberland Ky and I was so tickled to be able to go up that way. My husband's family is in PennslyTucky LOL so we cut through all that hilly stuff when going to visit them. But, I'm a Florida Flatlander and I get so nervous 'a driving through that area. Sorry I picked up an Appalachian accent while I was typing this. LOL I prefer to go on flat straight roads with the mountains on either side. I'm scared to be on them and even more scared to drive through tunnels. I'm a winter wimp too. Blesses. I sure enjoyed this.
Glad I found your channel. Back home we would call that a "Country Store" or "Package Store." You know when you're at a good place when you walk in between the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Freezer and the Buzzball Display to check out. :)
Shane and Melody that market serves good food made with love by some of the best and friendliest people ever. When I worked the area I ate lunch there daily.Lee county landmark.Thank you again.
I would love to go see that little market. And just the beautiful mountains in general. I live in northern VA but my father was from Coeburn Virginia. It's been years since I been there but I love the quite country scene..
I'm going to stop there next time I'm up that way, my son's sweetheart lives just up the road, I saw the place and recognized it. I am living in Oak Ridge TN but I'm up there regularly. Thank you for sharing, I've always loved food from a place like this. Not the drive thru stuff ❤
There is a place like this near me called Lefler's. Part of the building is an original 1920's gas station with the old drive-thru cover sticking out and the old "globe" type pumps are still there. They added onto it some years ago which has a kitchen and some dining areas. The old part has the old store and sells similar items, hoop cheese, picked picks feet, deviled eggs at the counter, old time candies, preserves, etc. and has allot of old original general store items on the walls on display. They still have a pot-belled stove in the back where locals go to sit and drink a cold bottled soda out of some original metal soda boxes. They have a good cheeseburger and other plate specials and specialize in barbecue to which they smoke right there beside the place. Its a real nice experience for those who remember the old days like myself. Takes me back to a better time.
Many old stores like that all over SW Virginia. I live in Carol County and we have 5 or so in the surrounding area here just like that, and they all make food. Even have old school gas pumps instead of modern.
I thought y'all made a video about this place before and I remember y'all talking about how good the food was and I remember saying to my brother that I love to. Have one of there hamburgers oh boy it is so wonderful to see papa coyote. With y'all it's good to see him out side guys I really enjoyed this video thank y'all so much for sharing it with us God bless y'all and papa brother it's great to see you to my dear Kentucky friends you're the best friends anyone could ever have have a wonderful rest of the weekend
There's another place in Southwest Virginia between Wise and Pound Va. Called ROBOS the strawberry milkshake is made with real strawberry not strawberry syrup
Hello y’all, I just found y’all’s channel as it popped up in my feed and I’m glad it did. I love old stores & history. I so enjoyed this video with y’all. Those are some delicious lookin hotdogs & hamburgers. Thanks for sharing. Watching y’all from South Carolina. 😇🙏🏻👍🏻❤️
Hello Coyote Family!! Happy Sunday to you all Hope you’ve had a good weekend Very recently the documentary Harlan County USA was on one of the movie channels I watched it and thought of you all. Have a great week to come. God bless!
Burger looks awsome!! Check out littles in marion va!! They use to be in an old country store much like this one but they moved it. It's right near hungry mother park. Order a Mikes Burger ! Your welcome
I miss those Grippos! I wish they sold them a little further into Virginia. I think I might know where a better burger in VA is- I don't want to let the cat out of the bag, though.
Yep! Stopped by there many times while traveling thru to do electrical work. Always had to get a hot dog. Kudzu, another prime example of where the government screwed up big time. Enjoyed y’all’s video
I’ve always said I’ll pass up three big businesses to get to the little guy or gals market that seems like a whole in the wall there always the best to visit and shop from
That market is on 421, but I was born on 119, it's near my home place. I'd go there if I lived there anymore, but just about everyone I know is gone or dead. I'd still like to see it and eat there!
Interesting side note, the Hatfield's and McCoys traveled up and down this road while they were killing each other. Of course, it wasn't a paved highway then.
Food may be great but it's kind of hard to believe the county Building Inspector hasn't condemned that building as a commercial property. That bow in the roof means they are living on borrowed time. It is going to snap and collapse and when that happens whoever is in the building at that time is in danger of serious injury or death. Tick-tock!
I constantly go out of my way to shop mom and pops stores still also eat at mom and pops restaurants or bars grills not big chains but I'm guilty of still relying on big chains for many things many days a month.

I think about all those drug stores and drive ins back home all the time that were part of my childhood.

Welcome to the channel!! We appreciate you.
AMEN brother, they indeed make an incredible burger! Last time I was near St . Charles Va , I stopped in, and it's fantastic!
Never had a burger there, but a burger or chuckwagon at the Patio always hit the spot!
Would be nice if they had some live bluegrass there.
born and raised in W.V. , I miss a lot of our little stores, ain't many left
Cool revisit! I'll definitely try one of them burgers next time I'm through there! Great to see Papa Coyote out with ya'll!👍

These are more common in VA than you'd think. There are some old markets like this in Goshen, Goochland, etc.
Reminds me of "Fried Green Tomatoes" movie set, love it.
The burger & chili dog looked killer.
I miss those Grippos! I wish they sold them a little further into Virginia. I think I might know where a better burger in VA is- I don't want to let the cat out of the bag, though.
I made a trip to there from bluefield I found it no problem, when I come by Dryden I give them a ring get it to go.
Yep! Stopped by there many times while traveling thru to do electrical work. Always had to get a hot dog.
Kudzu, another prime example of where the government screwed up big time.

I seen your video of 421 a couple years ago, i came down from bluefield to get a burger there.
I'm not too far from there in Tennessee. I'll visit out of interest, but I have to know that they'll cook a burger rare first before I order one. 😃

My folks are from Dickinson County, VA.
That market is on 421, but I was born on 119, it's near my home place. I'd go there if I lived there anymore, but just about everyone I know is gone or dead. I'd still like to see it and eat there!

I live in Florida and I i just can't stand it here anymore. I wanna move to a beautiful place like this. ❤
Nice video. Go Cards!
Glad to see this Blessings
funny thing about that cemetary. People living on the north side of the road, can't be buried on the south side of the road.
"Show me the beef!!!"😂
That is a nice hunk of meat on that burger.....but as we know....Coyotes love nice hunks of meat. I am craving a burger now. Thanks Coyotes.
Thanks for watching Terry
From Mendota to the Market!
Man that is a beautiful 🍔 😮😊
They have the best pizza too.
i try to only eat at mom and pop diners. corporate America has helped ruin this country with all the lousy fast food hellholes.
They are sure getting hard to find.
Now you’ve made me hungry. 😂
Food may be great but it's kind of hard to believe the county Building Inspector hasn't condemned that building as a commercial property. That bow in the roof means they are living on borrowed time. It is going to snap and collapse and when that happens whoever is in the building at that time is in danger of serious injury or death. Tick-tock!
Nice very nice
We need a go fund me account for Miss Juanita so she can finish the new addition
What county is this
Lee
Angie Gibson out there?
Check out the hamburger at Hob-Nob in Gate City Virginia. It will make your tongue slap your brains out.
