What I most like about your channel, is that you take as along less traveled destinations. Thank you for your content. For some of us it's healing and for other's, ideas for our own destination stops. Thank you Tristan.
The Cows, Ranchers drive out there with Hay bales for them. That's probably what they thought you were doing when they saw your vehicle. Love the videos!!!!
You, Sir, are a true HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER ! That landscape is beyond AWESOME. Thank you for including drone footage that makes one feel like a Raven gliding over the earth below...Surely won`t make that climb in this life; only the young, strong & experienced 'Mountain Goats,' as yourself, should entertain it. Thank You, Tristan, for another AMAZING vicarious share ! New Mexico is aptly named: LAND OF ENCHANTMENT.
A couple of thoughts…as for the cattle, they are probably accustomed to gathering like that when they hear the farmer’s vehicle drive up & they think there is some kind of food about to be served. As for your camera work on the ascent…it reminded me of when I used to do “vertical” rock rescue years ago in Appalachians. We had a team member (we nicknamed “Camera Man ONE”, who did video of our training that we could use in classroom settings, critiques, etc. When he would rappel down to where the “casualty” was dangling, he’d sling his camera over his shoulder and keep it running. That made for out of control film, as the camera flipped and flopped back and forth during his descent. When folks would try to watch those segments, there was a fair amount of motion sickness that would develop…we sure had a few laughs during our training critiques. Another great episode! “Ol’ Scooter” in East Texas!!
Like with the missing register that needs replacing on this one, at some point i hope you take on the mission of using your excellent fitness to give back to these places, by helping maintain them for future climbers. I learned to do the same and found how these causes really need our help. Most are not capable, but we few we are. Given your skills i recommend SAR for the county you live in but even the little things like rebuilding a rock shelter or replacing a missing register, will teach others a far bigger lesson beyond bagging peaks(as entertaining as that is). Thanks for your consideration Tristan and others watching who are able.
Lol. My thought was you almost tackled two “sports”. Mountain climbing and bull fighting. Haha. Thank you for your content. Very interesting for someone who could never climb a mountain like that. Thank you for taking us along.
And then he did the 3rd sport, “motor racing” as he peeled out to get away from the bulls! 😂. Hemingway would be proud. Super video, wonderful filming. Loved it all. I like it when he explains the history, geology of what he’s seeing.
Wow, great adventure, and views. Amazing to me the work you do to film your climbing. This climb was hard enough without having to do it multiple times in order to film. Thanks for your hard work. Great campsite with the views and your friendly company.
I love the Utah/ Arizona/ New Mexico videos the most. You have given me great new ideas for a New Mexico road-trip. Guadalupe Ruins are on the list now. Thanks - and please keep the videos coming. Could you do (or redo) some Grand Staircase Escalante and/or Bears Ears at some point, please?
They're great company until they start mooing in the middle of the night or rocking your car by rubbing themselves on it or pooping right where you step down when you get out of yourr car. Not that I'm speaking from personal experience...
@@SUVRVing Or when you’re all by yourself along the High Road to Taos, got out of the car to take some pictures of the spectacular view across the valley, when all of a sudden in this complete silence, you hear a loud, very, very heavy breathing. I was so happy to see three cows emerge from the brush along the road.
Thank you for another unique destination video. We love to go along with you as we are getting too old to do a lot ourselves. What amazing stonework in those kivas, so tight & even!
Thanks for sharing the exciting desolation of New Mexico. The spiral rocks are so out of context. The brute strength of the people who were able to get there and move rocks is staggering. Your drone certainly helps us see what is beyond our reach. Thank you, Tristan.
Back in 2016, on my way to experience the eclipse, I dispersed camped in the Praire Grasslands NE of Ft Collins and I had a lone cow that was curious of me and just hung out. I have some awesome photos of him/her. The stark beauty of rugged places with expansive views and cloudscapes are a delight.
I've visited numerous "ruins" and I'm in constant admiration. The tenacity of these "First Peoples" was second to none in human history, not to mention their ability to thrive in inhospitable places. Forget the pyramids, we have an abundance of “wonders” in our own country, which would take a lifetime to explore, and still not be able to see them all. As usual, great video, thanks and be safe.
Well you answered one question. I often wondered if you were using your drone camera for getting some of the really far off walking shots. Not the ones obviously from the air. But wondered if they now made drone cameras mounted where the drone could be sitting on the ground and take the shot, then you fly it back to you. Instead of having to hike back and forth. That would be a big help to cut down on the hiking back and forth.
The only time those cattle see a vehicle is likely when a rancher brings food or such, thus they are waiting for you to give them a treat. Not sure what that would be but they are habituated to come to the vehicles for something. Maybe check the brand when this happens and track down the owner of the brand if you get curious. So much of our public lands are free range areas. I was in Aztec, NM about six years ago and it is sure different out there. Actually went fishing in the reservoir in Farmington.
This wasn't the first summit register needing "help." Not to tell you what to do, but maybe throw a small notebook and pen/pencil in your pack to "fix" those situations?
What interesting, beautiful terrain. I would think it was also very challenging to descend from the mountain. Also, I think the cattle were enjoying your presence. They can be quite curious. Great video!
Very cool video Tristan ! The cows were happy to see you and hoping that you have brought some goodies... Cows like company with treats of course ! Thanks for sharing such awesome videos ! Safe travels ! Looking forward to upcoming videos !
Thanks for the views. What a landscape. You find the perfect places to go to. Where no one else seems to be... hard to believe people lived there and farmed and hunted. Hard to believe place was under water millions of year's ago. I live in mountains of north carolina just got back from coast...... the USA has some cool Landscapes.😊 Must have been water around for those cows. Or maybe they wanted a ride to greener pastures
The "junk" in the ammo box are actually geocache "treasures." Geocachers use clues and/or gps coordinates to find geocaches (often in ammo boxes), and then "leave a treasure and take a treasure."
Hi Tristan. Discovered your channel about a month ago while looking for videos about Arches NP. Didn’t take long to get hooked and since I’ve been watching 2-5 videos a day. I live in Rapid City South Dakota so was cool to see your videos from the Black Hills and Badlands. I visited Utah for the first time two years ago and it was like nothing I had ever seen before, absolutely can’t wait to get back. In one of your videos you had mentioned your hiking guide to Arches and I ordered that and it came about a week and a half ago. Anyway just wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying your adventures and the endless amazing places you visit.
My precious 😁 I'm glad so many people leave the treasures for others to enjoy instead of destroying things. That mountain didn't look that high until you showed the mountain from the top then the ground looked so far away. Safe travels 💕
The Guadalupe Ruins were impressive: Kivas really make you think about those that came before. I was happy no one swipped the pottery shards. Mt Doom was impressive as well! Another impressive video - Thanks Tristan.
I have a question. Have you seen any airplane crash debris on this trip? My father crashed in 1978 somewhere near Torreon, NM airport. I love seeing the drone footage and the terrain. My father was a co-pilot for an ambulance flight in a Queen Air that crashed during bad weather - I can almost imagine what the weather and location was like now. Thank you🥲
Love all your videos the aerials really add a lot and you talking about their history. It’s awesome. I’m so glad that you can take us along because I am not gifted to do what you are doing, thanks.
El Cabezon, one of my great uncles ranched near there in the mid 1800’s to early 1900’s. Thank you so much for taking me to the top, I would have never seen it otherwise!
Loved the cows at the end! We were staying at a remote campsite near White Sands NM in the Organ mountains and came across a whole herd of cows at night that we had to wait to cross the road before we could get to our campsite. Too funny! Another great video!
I would like to know how he is self-filming his hikes!! In a sense, it’s even more impressive than the hikes themselves. He is an expert in drone filming as well. Did not know that one can have a drone “stationary” and taking film while he was not holding the controller 😲👍
Not everything you thought was a drone shot, was a drone shot. The shots in close above him as he climbed were a special 360 degree camera that basically edits out the pole holding it above him.
As mentioned in earlier comments, that was a Geocache called Vulcan’s Throne, placed in May 2002. According to the Geocache description there is supposedly a summit log in a PVC pipe in the rock spiral. Love your videos and look forward to them every week. Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures!!
Love the cows at the end. Looks like you intruded on them! I also like that you are respectful of them and their land! Keep up the great work. We look forward to your videos! Thanks!
That was a great hike! I loved all the cactus views - lol! I think the climb is more appreciated in bad weather- it's like a great adventure. 🙂 The views with the drone - I think you go through a lot of work to show us all those views going back and forth! And the cattle hahahaha 💓Have a great day! 😊
Area reminds me a lot of the Glasshouse Mountains north of Brisbane. Also a collection of volcanic plugs in an otherwise wide open area... A lot less green than Australia though!
Just returned from stay north of ABQ. Historic Village of Placitas was our location for 12 nites in a beautiful VRBO. I was captivated by Cabezon peak looming up from our area. Really good views heading to Bernalillo to head out on our daily explorations. NM 279 off US 550 gave incredible views of that knob. If you are still in the area go to Pecos and drive up the Pecos river valley….I think you can make it to the headwaters…look on your benchmark. That was one of the most beautiful drives we have ever experienced. Cows are so nosey.
You did accomplish domething amazing for us because we couldn't do it. Thanks for drone shots. Wonderful with knowledgeable explanation of the lava tunes and skeletal rem as ins of the volcano.
Another compelling excursion into New Mexico, proving it's the journey not the destination. I just relocated to Santa Fe last month and I'm putting all of these spots on my hiking-to-do list ! Thanks Tristin for your inspiration ~ !
Great video. I don’t have the youth or skill to do the climbing. Thankful that you ar able to share your adventure. Cows are funny creatures they get curious and had to check you out. Don’t think they mean any harm.
Thank you for sharing a great hike. I couldn't get over how precise the stone work was on this site. How many folks today could even survive outside never mind building something to these specs.
Beautiful. I love the Albuquerque area. One of my trips back from Quartzsite took me up to Shiprock and Farmington then over thru the reservation lands and down to Albuquerque. I'll have to make the trip thru that area again and try to stay overnight as a couple of the campsites from this video. I am seriously thinking about making a CSV file with the coordinated from your videos and dumping them into google maps to make myself a tiny version of your map.
Getting ready to start my own adventure, and your guidance has and will be priceless. I also joined your website, and am looking forward to your guidance. I’m not sure if my small motorhome can go everywhere, but I’ll have a mountain bike & 250 Honda motorcycle to fill in the gaps. My late wife and I watched all your videos, I hadn’t planned on doing it alone, but I’m looking forward to the adventure.
congratulations you made it Tristan. Now you can sign the register if there is one. Then you can work your way down & warm up in your vehicle. Have a snack or sweet treat.
Quite marvelous...thank you Tristan . Someplace I would not be going- especially by myself . Sometimes, (I think), range cattle think every vehicle is one of "their" own. Years ago a calf followed our car part way down a mountain. 😳👍👍
Did you see the dike next to Guadalupe ruins parking lot? I hope the rains and cows do not keep you from returning to this area because you were very close to some amazing petroglyph panels and other cool things like Navajo ruins, an arch and slot canyon.
I have been told that cattle are extremely curious about our activities. What are we doing. That info comes from The Veggie Boys (& Girls). Another fascinating channel I watch.
That weather reminded me of hiking earlier this year in Lava Monument National Park in Bend, Oregon. I was headed up the huge cinder cone when it began to rain, then hail, then snow.....but i gave up and headed back down. Thanks for making it through the knarly weather and giving us some fantastic views. Im heading back to Utah next week to visit the Pando Forest and dry camp a bit. Carry on fellow explorer and thanks again.

Good trip. Cows are incredibly curious they are not just dumb steaks on hoofs.
Amazing camera work and climbing. Old man, will look at it at distance and experience the dangerous stuff, vicariously.
The Cows, Ranchers drive out there with Hay bales for them. That's probably what they thought you were doing when they saw your vehicle. Love the videos!!!!
Makes sense. Thanks for watching, John!

“Ol’ Scooter” in East Texas!!
Whenever I watch your videos, I pull out my atlas of the US and see where you are at.
Great climb and then the COWS from nowhere! Thanks for sharing.😀👍
Thanks for watching, Lynn!

These videos you make are nothing short of outstanding! Way better than most of the TV stuff I watch.
That was epic, requiring skillful, focused attention. Trippy landscape for sure, well done video - enjoyed it!
The only thing better than a new video from Tristan is...a new video from Tristan that has LOTR reference. 🤣
Wow, great adventure, and views. Amazing to me the work you do to film your climbing. This climb was hard enough without having to do it multiple times in order to film. Thanks for your hard work. Great campsite with the views and your friendly company.

I've done a bunch, and I've got some more coming up in the next month or two 😁
Can't wait for these! Some of my favorite areas!
Hope you have a 4 wheel drive. Some of those roads look sketchy.
I agree
A plug, just like Shiprock. Wondrous world! Including the cows - seem like great company.
They're great company until they start mooing in the middle of the night or rocking your car by rubbing themselves on it or pooping right where you step down when you get out of yourr car. Not that I'm speaking from personal experience...

They made pottery like that by wrapping with rope. Have you been to Lowry Ruins in Colorado?
What I spectacular landscape and adventure. Great shots! You earn my respect, as well. Thanks a lot! Beautiful.

I was impressed with your videography on this climb. I’m often amazed of how much extra you do for the shot. Drive safe and have fun. 🇺🇸

Amazing! I think the cows thought you had drove up to feed them with some hay.
Awesome camera work! Thank you 😊
Gosh...the ascent was incredible...not sure if I could handle watching you make your way back down. Another great adventure. Another great video.
The cattle are just fans, probably just wanted their autographs :D Another awesome video, that climb looked really neat!
😄 Thanks for watching!

The view from that extinct volcano dike was stupendous.
Rocks more rocks
At the end when you said you might have to move your campsite, I was hoping you'd say you might have to mooooooove your campsite.
🤣🤣🤣
Nice video, you are a great guide, I enjoy almost all the places you travel too.
Tristin, I always wonder how you will get off some of these peaks safely
Just gotta go back down the way I came 😁

Awww - Precious. Baby moos add great contrast to the volcanic dooms, haha. That was my favourite.
Love the cows at the end. Looks like you intruded on them! I also like that you are respectful of them and their land! Keep up the great work. We look forward to your videos! Thanks!
the cows are welcoming you. Good rocks, good views, good climb, enjoy the drone perspective, thanks for sharing Tristan...
That was a great hike! I loved all the cactus views - lol! Wow, the scenery behind you climbing the craggy rock was outstanding!
🤔 The cows are enjoying your company 😃. Fun and interesting video, thank you Tristan!
Thanks for watching!
I know absolutely what I'm doing as it relates to mountain climbing. And that is, I'm NOT climbing any mountains like that. 😅 🤣 😂
The cows thought you had some supplemental feed/hay. Something nobody just carries with them. Great place.
Area reminds me a lot of the Glasshouse Mountains north of Brisbane. Also a collection of volcanic plugs in an otherwise wide open area... A lot less green than Australia though!
Awesome video. We used to call Cabezon the Cosmic Nipple. Nice to see you exploring my old home turf.
Cows are curious by nature. Not surprised they showed up.
Great adventure, loved the editing on this one and the color grading, very nice.
Most underrated UA-camr.
You did accomplish domething amazing for us because we couldn't do it. Thanks for drone shots. Wonderful with knowledgeable explanation of the lava tunes and skeletal rem as ins of the volcano.
That spiral and the silly cows were my favorites
Another great adventure!!! Loved the whole video!Say hi to the cows for me!
The cattle are waiting for you to throw them a bale of hay, LOL. Great ascent with a cool summit and views.
Cows thought they were going to get fed. 👍😎👍
enjoyable as always. I think this will be another mountain I can remove from my bucket list.
Really cool place! Thanks for showing us!!
Tristan that was a climb indeed! Not the highest but very rugged! I LIKED those cows! When it got dark they might have laid down!❤️😀🇺🇸🚙
congratulations you made it Tristan. Now you can sign the register if there is one. Then you can work your way down & warm up in your vehicle. Have a snack or sweet treat.
Beautiful landscape, It's called Geocaching, stuff that was in the summit box, maybe junk to you, but some people enjoy it, thanks for sharing
This series is everything!! ❤
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Thanks!
The cows just wanted to hang out with you and share green stuff. I think they like you and just wanted to be friends.
What a fascinating area. The closest i came was the 550 from Albuquerque via Cuba to Nageezi to Chaco in1994 .
If you have time, check out Mt Taylor. It's in that area. I don't know much about it but it's one of four sacred mountains to the Navajo people.
Good video Tristan thanks for sharing.
I don't know what to call the music you choose, but I really enjoy it. I would call it folk-jazz or something.
Heck Tristan, those cows were just being curious, they didn'twant you to leave...they are funny animals.
Fantastic video. Thanks.
Volcanic pipe. And that spiral structure looks modern
