It's always amazing to me how John Cleese just becomes better every time I see him his skill and his talent perfect timing what an amazing actor so few left like him
3rd Rock From the Sun was one of the funniest sit-coms of all time. This episode with John Cleese however is just gold. Why can't they have shows with *good* writing instead of the lazy stuff we get today?
By season 3-4 they were phoning in lame focus-group sitcom jokes. And for "lazy stuff we get today," let's not forget that 95% of television comedy back in the 90s was absolute trash as well.
This show was great, but it's not true about writing today. After the success of multiple streaming services we are literally living in the golden age of "tv" drama. The production value and writing quality of shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective, Veep, Silicon Valley, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, The Crown, Better Call Saul and I could go on for an hour, makes the quality of older television look like an embarrassing relic of the past (there are exceptions of course, I love old television myself).
I came to see this after John Lithgow’s interview on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert... had to have a good laugh, unadulterated by disasters. Tough these days
John Lithgow's movements and mannerisms in this scene remind me a lot of Jim Parsons' portrayal of Sheldon Cooper. I could totally see a scenario like this with Sheldon and Kripke, maybe playing mini golf.
I implore you to watch Fawlty Towers. Yes, it is quite dated and very British but JC's slapstick comedic timing is some of the best ever by anyone. Funny stuff.
Beau Croom Thanks, I'll try to find it and see if UA-cam & the license holders allow for it to be online here. I see it as good advertisement for the show, that's my motivation to upload these bits, I want everyone to see how great this show is.
Sure it's fake. Why shouldn't it be? Besides, when you watched it on a standard definition 19" screen from 10 feet away, you didn't really notice or care.
Comments like this remind me of a story an acquaintance told me about watching Spaceballs with a group of friends growing up. While decelerating from ludicrous speed, Dark Helmet flies across the bridge headfirst and is embedded in the control panel. One of the kids in the group yelled out "Yeah, right!". He was promptly punched hard in the arm.
Spreading hope:" Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart." Isaiah 7: 4 " Jesus said to him, Iam the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14: 6
Brothers from another mother 💕🤩
"Perhaps you have a brain tumour!"
That comment comes out of nowhere and it makes me burst out laughing every time XD
That long pause after the first 2 is what really makes it.
They're so similar. Just different nationalities.
yes they could be brothers
John lithgow has more charm
@@InYourHeadChangedMan So Cleese, as Dick Solomon's rival, played his part perfectly then. :)

It's always amazing to me how John Cleese just becomes better every time I see him his skill and his talent perfect timing what an amazing actor so few left like him

Honestly I think this show is a bit overrated but then I also think sinefild is a bit overrated lol
so this is what Basil Fawlty is up to
Jessuschrist, this has gotta be gold. I'd have loved to see this filming.
I came to see this after John Lithgow’s interview on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert... had to have a good laugh, unadulterated by disasters. Tough these days
They should do an improv show together.
Or Better Yet, they should've been in Thomas and the Magic Railroad or the CGI Era, John Lithgow as James and John Cleese as Edward.
Our heroes :)
Basil Fawlty and Prime Minister Winston Churchill playing golf!
I always mix them up... Glad they actually worked together ❤
Same here 🙂
This is so phenomenal!

True
I never knew cleese appeared in this show
I love how the edge of the grass on the set can be seen at 0:30

Another fun thing to do on the tee is to ask your opponent if he inhales or exhales during his backswing.
why is this so funny, cant stop laughing
John

PFC Thomas Blackhawk
John Arthur Lithgow and John Marwood Cleese playing golf together. What could be better than this?

A great addition to a comedic tradition. Check out the WC Fields version.
King Harold and Lord Farquaad
I can't decide what's funnier, Cleese's timing or the fact that this is the fakest set in television history 😆
Wow, Lord Farquaad and King Harold playing Golf together.😃😄😄😄👑❤💙
“Oh this!”
0:15 they included the set equipment in this scene on the right hand side. Lighting equipment on a golf course
this sums up perfectly "that BITCH!"
xD
Cleese has a nice swing
When you don’t want your friend to be better than you
King Harold and Lord Farquaad from Shrek

Ive never been a John Cleese fan..never thought he was ever very funny... But John Lithgow...hillarious

I implore you to watch Fawlty Towers. Yes, it is quite dated and very British but JC's slapstick comedic timing is some of the best ever by anyone. Funny stuff.
Reading that comment made me cry :(
Their background was a painting 🤭😂
Am I watching flying circus or 3rd Rock?? 😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪😜😜😜😍😍😍
Dude makes Lithgow look short.
They didn't even try with the set
AWESOME SCENE!!! Now if you could post The scene from "superstitious dick" when dick just looses it in front of the foundation, it's nowhere on UA-cam
Beau Croom Thanks, I'll try to find it and see if UA-cam & the license holders allow for it to be online here. I see it as good advertisement for the show, that's my motivation to upload these bits, I want everyone to see how great this show is.
Harold and farquaad....
I can see where jackass got its ideas
Please don't compare a bunch of idiots to 2 comedy geniuses.
Wow that incredibly fake background.
and to think.. someone got a check for it

wink wink
AttentionJunkie Fawlty Towers always had obvious fake backgrounds

When you think about it, golf courses are fake nature, so.............................

They must be related. One more annoying than the other🙃
