I don't play new gankplank nearly as much as I did back in the day, but I can see how it is a good rework. However, that feeling of making a soraka see god with a single press of Q with Critplank will forever be a fond memory of mine.
You can still do that, it's a bit harder because you need to be very ahead if the game and proc the rune, but it is possible, and killing multiple people with a single barrel is just as funny

If you went mid or top and used your E to deny every cannon minion for your opponent, you'd eventually be a whole level ahead because they didn't get the experience. Also fun fact, spell vamp worked with this ability so you could literally heal yourself by killing your own minions! Good times
Yeah, when you were leading into the AP GP build, I assumed it would be Bankplank. Might be worth a short addendum video because it was zero counterplay guaranteed lane loss for any opponent. Deny forced the enemy waves to always push, GP built heart of gold x5 and farmed with Parrrley, fast forward 20 minutes and he could buy 3 items
So Gangplanks "re-work" was something I never knew happened but its interesting to see what his kit was, as for him dying I was funnily enough told that only recently and found it hilarious. Also I will stand my ground and say we need jhin as an announcer.
Yeah I was a GP Main before rework. Stuff that was important. High Base Stats, so much so only Nasus or Riven could 1v1 at level 1. He had an auto reset. Auto-Q-Auto. Since all melee attacks applied his poison and slow passive and Parley counts as a melee you could put 3 stacks on someone instantly. With move speed runes you could have a permanent 21% slow on them as you walk them back to tower. This was almost always a kill if they were far from tower. Tankplank was my jam. Orange had a 100% AP Ratio and at max rank healed 390 HP and removed all CC. You could easily bait people into dives and then Orange and turn it easily.
The only thing I miss about old GP was his personality, I liked how goofy he was back then. And I've been saying for a while that they should do champion/different announcers. It's common in other games like smite and dota. I would definitely pay to have an Aurelion Sol or Kayne/Rhaast or Kled announcer pack.

I feel like the only thing truly lost from old GP mechanics-wise was the absolute hypefest ultimates. You ult the Dragon pit, is every cannonball gonna hit the dragon and steal it when their jungler panic smites? Is every cannonball going to land outside the pit, but directly on their ADC's head? Are you somehow going to land a single cannonball for the entire ultimate despite their being 6 targets inside the aoe? Who knows? I sure didn't, my teammates didn't either, hell, Riot Games themselves didn't know. The easiest one taps could turn into the saddest whiffs, the most unheard of kills could be yours for the low low price of building AP and literally gambling every fight around RNJesus. Was it competitive? Hell no, but was it fun? It was a magical pirate defying demons with citrus and occasionally dropping enough ordinance on someone's head to make the US Defense budget go "Woah buddy, calm down there". So yes. Yes it was.
For the longest time I missed old GP because raise morale was basically an assist button with massive range. But I realized Riot's gameplay philosophy no longer welcomed free steroids. Champion interactions have costs and engagement methods that involve more than pressing a button. ...is what I thought, then Yuumi released.
Amazing video recapping Pirate Boy. There's just one thing I wish you'd mentioned: Way, *way* back in the day, Gangplank's E would instantly kill a targeted ally minion on use. This made him the only champion in the game capable of killing their own team's minions, denying gold and XP from the enemy. It's a mechanic that was obviously left over from the DoTA roots where Denying CS was an actual mechanic and was removed in early 2011.
For non-Dota players I'll add that it still is in Dota, it's just as important as getting CS and one of the reasons why support players there are way more active imho. I play and like both games but when I get on LOL and can't stack jungle camps, deny CS or physically block the wave to have the enemy push into my tower I feel I'm missing something
@@agoniavr I play both games also, but only because I have friends that still play league. I switched over from league to Dota about a year and half ago and man…. It’s soooo much better in just about every aspect. I love Dota.
I would say that the biggest "rework" that GP ever got, really, wasn't even a GP change at all. I think the biggest difference between "old" and "new" Gangplanks is just the existence (or lack thereof) of the old GP5 items/runes that used to be in the game. There really isnt any sort of gold-hoarding builds now, and building "BankPlank", rushing heart of gold into an insanely early statik shiv or just more gold gen items, until you eventually made the switch to full blown CritPlank, only when you had enough to go from 0 crit to near 100% crit in a single back. The next fight after that back was always sooo fun, catching everybody off guard with Qs that used to do a couple hundred dmg and now do almost a couple thousand XD
this is very nearly his current build though? I mean First Strike with Future's Market, Treasure Hunter and a Cull for an extremely early ER is a pretty obscene amount of money.
@@2oo_popsicleS ig theres an argument to be made about ge “builds” still being in the game, in the forms you said. But just nothing close to being able to load up on a whole bunch of items, then sell them all for the big switch. So satisfying
The Bilgewater event is the best one we have ever had. I absolutely loved the story, which wasn't as boring as The Ruination. And I miss soooo much Black Market Brawlers. I still don't know why can't we keep Butcher's Bridge for ARAM instead, it looks so much better than Howling Abyss...
Pre-rework GP used to be one of my favorite junglers, along with Trundle. I was quite disappointed when his rework ended up confining him to laning. He also used to have a great /laugh for taunting.
I actually really miss the old gp. Something about criting with his Q, autoattacking and his ultimate felt very satisfying. I actually enjoy it a lot more than the new GP... those gigantic cannon balls before the rework made it seem like it hit harder than normal... idk starting with that 4% brawler gloves for 400 gold and hitting a critical at lvl1 sheesh
As a Gangplank one-trick back in the day, my life ended when he died and I had no idea what to do with my time afterwards... Jokes aside, pre-rework Gangplank was something magical. He felt extremely flexible and could flow in whatever direction you wanted to send him. I've done Critplank, Blueplank, Tankplank, Bankplank, Gankplank, Feralplank (Udyr build and pathing), Supportplank, Rainbowplank or whatever other item combination at some point just because the only thing that really mattered was hitting that Q and hoping your bombs didn't orbit around your target. During the event I loved the full upgrade he got to his model, voice lines and skins, the Captain skin only made it better, and I would have bought that announcer pack in a heartbeat if I could've, but I personally was not a fan of his new darker persona upon his return, preferring the stalwart and cocky "invincible pirate of Bilgewater" energy he had from the new skin. The kit on release was insane and learning how to efficiently barrel truly made for some incredible moments of "good GP players vs great GP player" expression. I may not be as devoted to him in recent years compared to before; being a Jungle GP one-trick is harder with all the changes pushing him to laning; he still gets the occasional game or two from me just because of that dedication I gave to him in the beginning and how oranges are truly the superior fruit.
"He felt extremely flexible and could flow in whatever direction you wanted to send him. I feel you. Not only Gangplank but I could swear everything was way more flexible before. Maybe it's just the nostalgia speaking, maybe it's just the fact that years of experience and the quantity of resources available online made LoL players more aware of what they're doing (thus leading to more min-maxing) but now it all feels so streamlined and... bland (for lack of a better term)
@@Syphark Oh, I 100% agree. While we may be using rose-tinted glasses and looking at the game fondly over the years, their philosophy on allowing players to play the game they want and innovating has become so standardized we've had incredible champions to make up for it, only causing this power creep loop. Feral Flare was extremely problematic, lane swap meta caused so many issues, Teleport/Homeguard was a problem, so on and so forth, but they were really interesting ideas that we all adapted to. Look at what happened with the support top meta that happened a few months ago. I understand they probably have to keep the gmae in a specific playstate, not just for balance reasons, but probably for higher ups and shareholders, but it really does feel like the traits that made League magical in the first place have long disappeared.
@@AnimaExLuna lol easy. they prioritize the esport scene now cause it's always free marketing and free money from sponsors and advertizers. And esport seem to be a better metric for investors than having longer player retention.
I love this series and I truly can't wait until i see a video about my man, pre-rework yorick. He was the most fun I had with any champ and I really miss him.
I remember back when I played league in season 4 a couple weeks after starting to learn the game I faced my first level 30 and he went 5 infinity edges and 1 static shiv. He went around one shooting everyone. Needless to say I hated facing him after that but I loved his personality to much.
Kinda miss riots balls back in 2015. They spent a entire year making the bilgewater event, then they put a good story, rework and for fun game mode around it, let players choose the lore by doing certain tasks in game to side with a character, then when the event was at peak hype kill off the champion you just reworked in lore so you disable him for a entire week just to prove a point and bring him back a week later. I still think it was a missed opportunity to have gp die/get disabled in patch 5.14 then release the rework on patch 5.15 at the conclusion of the bilgewater event, but the entire lore event had no reason to be as good as it was, and they have never reached that peak in lore events since. A lot of people just play gp now because "haha barrel damage go boom" but there's still a few ogs like me that played him just because of lore. Even champions like nasus and xreath feel weak compared to gp in the burning tides just because they wrote it so well while toning down what players would expect. TF can take on at most 3 dudes and he openly admits it, meanwhile Graves is so angry he thinks he can take on his entire pirate army and gets his shit kicked in because of it, and the only reason mf actually succeeds is she had to spend a literal decade preparing it
@@ich3730 thats the entire point, they wrote it so well that gp is literally just a dude with a gun and a bunch of pirates but he steals every scene he's in. This isn't a nitpick but TF says in the part of the story from his perspective even with his cards he could take on at most 3 pirates, and if he could teleport anywhere he could of just tp'd exactly to the jagged knife, took it, then left. Since he teleported near it, it makes me think he at least has to know where it is to get close to it. He also only teleports outside the shed when Graves catches him so its short range
I loved playing old GP. I always used the same cookie cutter build with static shiv, hydra, iceborne gauntlet and sprit visage (boots whatever fit and last itme was always situational) and E max): It was super fun. I almost got a penta with it but the blitzcrank on my team stole it (on purpose). I still think new GP is by fat the better version but old GP will have a special place.
As much as I love blowing up the enemy backline with barrels in current LoL. There will always be a place in my heart for old AP GP. It just worked so well. Back then every champ didnt have 20 dashes so one good ult and they are either dead for have to burn sums.
The Bildgewater event was the best we had. Ever sense the events are some combo of complete missions, updated log in/ background screens, with the sole exception being the first Star Guardian event with a fun new game mode.
Gangplank rework is so damn nostalgic for me. I bought gp a week before rework to try the dude and I found out he was alright in jungle. And after rework not so much. I remember playing him on support with the new items and these sick little animals from bilgewater. New items that didn't stay let me be real tanky and redirect almost all DMG from my ADC to me (or at least I remember it like that. Might be wrong thought.) Good old times ;(
i remember GP as an announcer had a line that goes "yo've been gutted". at some point during a butcher's bridge match i said "GP can say 'you've been gutted' but Graves can't have a fucking cigar", i got chat restricted 75 games, when i made a tweet about it, MagikarpUsedFly added it in his Darius actual champion spotlight video
Still the best story, the best game modes and one of the best reworks Riot did. They NEVER outdid that event. Not once. That was truly a spectacle of amazing lore and game modes.
I still remember picking gangpank support in Season 4 when I started playing. Maxing E with the old Zeke's and all the aura items. Truly memorable times.
I really enjoyed GP as announcer as well as Butcher's Bridge. The map looked awesome! And GP as announcer was great as well! Pyke was also pretty good I must say. I would definitely pay for the announcers and for the map skin as well. Thanks for the video!
Damn I was really hoping you'd talk about one of the more powerful aspects of Gangplank way back when. His E used to require you to kill an ALLIED minion in order to get the activation of E. This allowed Gangplank to absurdly snowball because he was the only character in the entire game, in the history of the game that could deny minions. If you kept denying the cannon minion coupled with his Q bonus gold Gangplank got so absurdly far ahead of you there was really no way he couldn't be a carry because not only did he get massive gold advantages, he also got massive XP advantages and if they ever do a League Classic version with the increased skill of players today there is no doubt in my mind Old Old Old Gangplank would be an SSS tier champion.
Going even further back, I loved his very old model. Not because it looked that good (tho on par with older graphics), but the massive chest hair and his voice lines made the champ even more ridiculous
Old GP was actually insanely fun, you could make almost any item work on him and though his kit might seem basic, a player that knew old GP and his limits/capabilities well could REALLY do extremely well on him. He was a traditional "hit and run" fighter that could also scrap in melee if needed. We don't really have anything like it in current league. Even though new GP's kit isn't that different, they had to gut his base stats and numbers to balance him having more than 1 damage ability.
I remember playing original gangplank, and he was super duper fun. His massive one shot crit damage builds were my favorite. Pressing e and then one tapping someone with a q was hilarious, and I didn't mind being a glass Cannon. However I think you missed the part about them changing gangplank a little bit after he died. Because before, his barrels applied on his effects. They didn't used to deal the damage of the attack solely. So things like statikk shiv would apply in an AOE which was pretty neat. But then after he died, they made it the damage of the attack instead
MOOOREEEEEE. Loving this series. Hope to see soon the reworks of Rize, Irelia, Akali, Kyle, Nunu, Mordekaiser, Panth, Dr. Mundo and the newest so far: Udyr.
I remember there was a time where a legit strat was basically a funnel/hard carry strat, except you didn’t have the adc/jungler farm all lanes at once. The build was gp top, nunu jg, an enchanter like Karma mid, and your choice of 2 others, usually someone with insane pick/engage like Leona and hyper carry like Vayne or Trist. Gp had his steroid, Nunu’s ult was an amazing speed buff, any cc based champ could run you down with Shurelya’s or Righteous Glory and Mobi boots, and your choice of hyper carry was nearly unkillable with your enchanters and buffs. Gp had his gold padded by Parrrrley, Nunu was always a solid jungler from behind due to the buffs he got from camps and unstealable nature, Soraka mid was popular back in seasons 2 and 3, and you had a ton of decent tank supports like Taric, Leona, even Nautilus back then. Even without much hard cc on the team, it was near impossible to catch your carries thanks to Nunu’s slows, overall movespeed of the comp, and relative bulkiness. The comp was so good on hyper carries that I remember even Royals played it in S3 for Uzi’s Vayne. Edit: the other strat you had with this rush build was a full-run with Sivir as the adc. Popular mid was Malz for an unstoppable supress.
I might be showing my league age, but, I remember the days when Gangplank used to be able to use his Q to last hit his own minions to deny gold from his lane opponent while still getting a little bit of gold himself....Old League was wild. I do miss old AP GP, yet the rework did give him clear windows where he could be countered, which was good.
The other notable aspect of the GP rework is it dropped near the end of summer season, which threw pro teams into chaos. That plus the s5 world's juggernaut patch was a balance nightmare
I loved the old GP, it was my main back then in 2014. I would always go top and win every matchup. I run mostly crit items with him and he hurts like hell. The new GP is fun too, and seems to have more damage in his abilities but the old GP will remain my favorite.
When I think of LoL reworks, I think of Gangplank because of how much weight this rework carried. Removing a champion from the game, announcer pack, map skin, new game mode, don't even get me started on Burning Tides, a story that connected multiple Bilgewater champions, really making the narrative feel big. We really had it good back then, when Riot cared about older champions and lore. Could never see one like this come out in 2022 (frankly bc riot would rather churn out new champions and skins over updating older champions)
I wish they did different announcers during Arcane. I can already hear viktor "Tower defences will soon fall" or a Jinx with a "ooo first blood". But as fun as i think this would be it probably will lose its charm very soon if done regularly, like with each new thing a new announcer.... meh doubt that will be a good idea.
I think I remember gankplanks E having to kill an allied minion to be used actively. Not sure if I remember that correctly, but it was in the "old" days.
The original version of raise moral used to execute an ally minion. The old strategy was to walk the minions to lane and execute 2-3 of them on the way at the start to deny cs to the opponent. Then use on cd would over the course of the game cost the opponent many cs while last hitting with q was easy, similar to Annie's Q last hits. A decent GP would always have a lead in gold and xp.
I would definitely buy announcers for RP. I really am digging the Star Guardian announcer for the recent ultimate spellbook, I think it has so much personality! In that same vein if also pay RP for tower/minion skins
Well, I used to main GP before rework, then stopped playing for a while, switched to Lee Sin and then fell in love once again with those pesky barrels through a youtube video of magikarpusedfly. Hell I wouldn't even think of going back as a laner if not for that meme vid
As a league boomer I kinda miss those old goofy champions. My friend group has a long running joke that started with raise morale to get an assist even though it did nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Bro, I remember old Gangplank being busted. You would build stattik shiv and infinity edge and then just go full tank. He literally becomes an unkillable dude that still one shots you.
GP rework for me is the best thing that happened in League. I love his rework, reached masters one tricking him, the barrel combos are incredible, Love him, and I wasn't much of an old GP player. His death in-game for me was awesome, I loved that event that made things that happened in the lore affect the game itself and I wish we had more of that, people might say that this shouldn't impact competitive play because the champion was super OP, pick/ban tier and the pros couldn't even play the champion, but it would be the same as saying that GP was simply released only after coming back from the dead and we had an early opportunity to playtest him. I wish we had more event like this, it brings back so much nostalgia, and nowadays we get stuff like half assed event passes and sentinels of light event...
That was the first time I noticed thst you can attack barrels to reduce their health. I always thought I was wasting attacks with Gangplank and it felt super clunky. guess I may try him again to see how it plays out.
I didn't now I needed this video until I searched for it and found it, I'm glad you made it. And Yes, I'd pay any amount to make this fucking annoying announcer stops yelling at me, Gangplank's voice was sooo much better
I love that League matures with it's players. As you said, many reworks were funnier, prettier and lighter back in the days. I don't see it as a bad thing tho, Riot is doing amazing job in it's world creation and I can't wait to dive more whatever they will bring
His old E in the early days killed one of your own minions. It became a great way to denie experiance. If you started the first wave at the spawn and killed one minions with the E, you chould kill a second one just before lane. 1/3th of the wave denied! And no cannon minions gold/exp😇 And on top of that, his Q used tocdo magic dmg, try building defance against that.
Honestly, I do miss old GP, but I cannot imagine it fitting into the current game without feeling incredibly dated. I've fallen in love with new GP, even without Klepto for that maximum Bankplank shenanigans, he's still very fun and his redesign was- and is one of the best reworks to date.
One of the most creative mechanics ever existed in League is GP's barrels. They didnt lie when they said he had higher skill expression. He's still insanely strong and yeah you could say he's OP, but it's not easy to place barrels without having it destroyed like 95% of the time lmao
A long time ago Gangplanks Q use to execute your own minions and you gained the passive gold amount if you killed it, a way to deny your opponent gold.
They could mke his current passivw into his old one and lower the armor pen on his barrels cus its not rly that fun that he gets ldr and ignores 70% armor and gets to reset true dmg and just constantly apply it if youre melee
This was a very nice blast from the past, but you forgot one variation... Between patches 5.12 and 5.14 (just before GP got reworked) for a brief moment you had a chance to play Runeglaive GP. It was basicly GP with a better Lich Bane, and it was for a very brief moment, but still it was fun to play.
I used to play old gp every lanes, tankplank, adc plank, ap mid plank, support plank and jungle plank. but tankplank was the main role that got me to plat for the first time...
I would 100% buy champion announcers, I feel like it would help us connect to them just that little bit more in hearing their personalities. Also I want a Rek’Sai announcer pack as the first option.
In Heroes of the storm there is a cgaracter called Murky that's a Murloc from Warcraft and his voice pack exists and its basically just fish-like murloc blabbering and its great I loved it
Bro old gangplank was so goofy. I remember playing him bot this one time. Taking all the crit damage glyphs marks seals and quintessence as possible started brawlers glove and waited for the enemy Zara to walk in the bush both q and auto crit and she was as good as dead
I will forever stand my ground on Riot making a "Definitely Not Gangplank" skin and just be his old clothes with old voice lines and especially the laugh/ult laugh, absolutely loved old GPs voice lines and laugh.
GP rework is imo the best one they've made so far. Changed so little about his kit, yet managed to change the champion's identity, both in playstyle and personality, so much
I don't play new gankplank nearly as much as I did back in the day, but I can see how it is a good rework. However, that feeling of making a soraka see god with a single press of Q with Critplank will forever be a fond memory of mine.
You can still do that, it's a bit harder because you need to be very ahead if the game and proc the rune, but it is possible, and killing multiple people with a single barrel is just as funny

You could even add magical footwear or a stopwatch for even more free stuff
@@2oo_popsicleS ig theres an argument to be made about ge “builds” still being in the game, in the forms you said. But just nothing close to being able to load up on a whole bunch of items, then sell them all for the big switch. So satisfying
@@2oo_popsicleS Still doesn't compare to stacking gp5
BankPlank the goat build
The Bilgewater event is the best one we have ever had. I absolutely loved the story, which wasn't as boring as The Ruination. And I miss soooo much Black Market Brawlers. I still don't know why can't we keep Butcher's Bridge for ARAM instead, it looks so much better than Howling Abyss...
this man has spoken gods ultimate truth
black market brawlers was just more snowbally summoners rift. Kinda boring
10:29 ….brb I’m gonna go cry in a corner….man the nostalgia of that map combined with GP’s aram…I miss it
I'll never forget how satisfying it was to walk up with just statik shiv and nuke their whole health bar with a single q
Gp still does that, but now with more range and damages the entire enemy team.
I know man! He got me into the game (special force's gp) and died when barrels came.
I’m with you man, he was my favourite character. I miss 1 shotting people with shiv/infinity edge. I remember going like 50/10 in a normals once.
The music that played during the event for ARAM is still stuck in my head years later
I may not be as devoted to him in recent years compared to before; being a Jungle GP one-trick is harder with all the changes pushing him to laning; he still gets the occasional game or two from me just because of that dedication I gave to him in the beginning and how oranges are truly the superior fruit.
supportplank with old Zeke's and 1% crit rune RNG was the golden days of my league journey
For those who didn't have the chance to live that moment: Bilgewater is to date THE best event Riot have ever made and it's not even close
I love this series and I truly can't wait until i see a video about my man, pre-rework yorick. He was the most fun I had with any champ and I really miss him.
Seeing the old icon and aura effects of red and bluebuff just hit me with nostalgia
I remember back when I played league in season 4 a couple weeks after starting to learn the game I faced my first level 30 and he went 5 infinity edges and 1 static shiv. He went around one shooting everyone. Needless to say I hated facing him after that but I loved his personality to much.
15:43 is a verry good flash off the mord that i will say.
3:21
Omg, i forgot about this old ass meme from league back in the day! Ty for bringing back some good memories lol
TF can take on at most 3 dudes and he openly admits it, meanwhile Graves is so angry he thinks he can take on his entire pirate army and gets his shit kicked in because of it, and the only reason mf actually succeeds is she had to spend a literal decade preparing it
isnt GP literally just a dude with a gun? And xerath/nasus are desert gods or smth? And TF can literally teleport, he could decide wars with that?
@@ich3730 thats the entire point, they wrote it so well that gp is literally just a dude with a gun and a bunch of pirates but he steals every scene he's in. This isn't a nitpick but TF says in the part of the story from his perspective even with his cards he could take on at most 3 pirates, and if he could teleport anywhere he could of just tp'd exactly to the jagged knife, took it, then left. Since he teleported near it, it makes me think he at least has to know where it is to get close to it. He also only teleports outside the shed when Graves catches him so its short range
Broke my heart seeing the old Hydra
Might be wrong thought.)
Good old times ;(
Love current GP, absolutely loved the event, sadly only got to experience the old GP once and I definitely think the current one is an improvement.
i remember GP as an announcer had a line that goes "yo've been gutted". at some point during a butcher's bridge match i said "GP can say 'you've been gutted' but Graves can't have a fucking cigar", i got chat restricted 75 games, when i made a tweet about it, MagikarpUsedFly added it in his Darius actual champion spotlight video
Videos like this made me realize how old league is, I swear this update is just 1-2 years ago
10:28 "Welcome to the twisted threeline" 😭😭😭😭
Watching the Aatrox fly up and slam into the ground made me so happy at 2:09
You and I both.
Still the best story, the best game modes and one of the best reworks Riot did. They NEVER outdid that event. Not once. That was truly a spectacle of amazing lore and game modes.
i love gankplank's old E, its cool. still remember his catch phase, "got me ground, laid yet? grand babuf" or somthing along that line.....
My oldest memory in league was unironically tryharding adc gangplank with teemo support with smite. Magical times
GP than: Young pirate dude
GP now: Diabetes struck
GP Viego: Built like a DILF
His event was probably one of my favorite moments in league
honestly the best way to announce a rework league has ever seen
Great video man, waiting for the before the rework of ryze!
I would sell my leg to have a Rammus anouncer
instead of "pentakill" he'll just say ok 5 times
The other notable aspect of the GP rework is it dropped near the end of summer season, which threw pro teams into chaos. That plus the s5 world's juggernaut patch was a balance nightmare
I remember when Raise Morale required you to kill a friendly minion. So you'd use it to deny Cannons in lane to your opponent.
I loved the old GP, it was my main back then in 2014. I would always go top and win every matchup. I run mostly crit items with him and he hurts like hell. The new GP is fun too, and seems to have more damage in his abilities but the old GP will remain my favorite.
oh boy, the old gps raise morale used to make you shoot one of your minions, killing it and starting the effect, pretty op if you think about it
When I heard the gangplank announced say "Welcome to the twisted tree line" a tear came to my eye ;-;
Gp before rework was a monster. Loved that passive so much...had shurelya's on e! Beautiful Champ!
Man what a nostalgia trip. People nowadays would be crying over Fiora's old ult all day.
A decent GP would always have a lead in gold and xp.
puhh 7:10 the nostalgia kicks hard... Didn't heared SivHD for a long Time.
I would definitely buy announcers for RP. I really am digging the Star Guardian announcer for the recent ultimate spellbook, I think it has so much personality! In that same vein if also pay RP for tower/minion skins
this video edits how he sounds makes me nostalgic :( good old days...
Well, I used to main GP before rework, then stopped playing for a while, switched to Lee Sin and then fell in love once again with those pesky barrels through a youtube video of magikarpusedfly. Hell I wouldn't even think of going back as a laner if not for that meme vid
I had a friend that whenever picked GP in Ranked, he would ALWAYS play AP GP OP, even tried it after the rework. Fun times
The gangplank rework was one of the best events Rito ever did ... shame they dont have the same kind of creativity and inspiration anymore
Omg seeing all the old gameplay especially fiora ult... good times.. kinda
The thing that I miss the most about those types of rework is the jank that the old versions had.
I don't play Gangplank, but I would love to have him as an announcer in the game, it would be sick.
God, I use to play Bankplank sup back in the day. I miss old LoL so much
that old talon footage almost made shed a tear
Parrrley was able to target your own minions once upon a time, so you could creep deny.
And no cannon minions gold/exp😇
And on top of that, his Q used tocdo magic dmg, try building defance against that.
First champion I ever bought was Old gangplank ohhh the memories loved Critical plank in Dominion and 3v3
AP GP OP brought back such good memories.
A long time ago Gangplanks Q use to execute your own minions and you gained the passive gold amount if you killed it, a way to deny your opponent gold.
I would've sold my kidneys to have GP as my announcer the older players were blessed.
I do miss that GP announcer mode!!!! It made that season just way better!!!! And the theme song that played on summoners rift!
They could mke his current passivw into his old one and lower the armor pen on his barrels cus its not rly that fun that he gets ldr and ignores 70% armor and gets to reset true dmg and just constantly apply it if youre melee

"AYYY PEYYY GYYY PYYYY"
Ahhh, yes, Rek'Sai anmouncer... when you get a penta she will screech so loud just like her old ult sound....
**Champion Announcers released**
Plot twist: It's Sona and Rammus.
In Heroes of the storm there is a cgaracter called Murky that's a Murloc from Warcraft and his voice pack exists and its basically just fish-like murloc blabbering and its great I loved it
GP as an announcer: " Welcum!"
I still play AP Gangplank and enjoy it quite a lot. That ult is a tactical nuke, man.
"Welcome to the Twisted Treeline" hurt.
Bro old gangplank was so goofy. I remember playing him bot this one time. Taking all the crit damage glyphs marks seals and quintessence as possible started brawlers glove and waited for the enemy Zara to walk in the bush both q and auto crit and she was as good as dead
Holy shit I forgot about SIV. I used to watch him all the time back in middle school lol
Ah my old OG main, Q with Shiv for some insane hits. Best crit animation btw.
I will forever stand my ground on Riot making a "Definitely Not Gangplank" skin and just be his old clothes with old voice lines and especially the laugh/ult laugh, absolutely loved old GPs voice lines and laugh.
While everyone else was fixated on Runeglaive Ezreal, I was playing Runeglaive GP mid and having the time of my life.
GP rework is imo the best one they've made so far. Changed so little about his kit, yet managed to change the champion's identity, both in playstyle and personality, so much
