Yes!!!! Im a black American metalhead goth guy. I've been listening to metal for a decade. I always wanted to see more black people and African people being represented in metal. It's about time. Half a decade ago it wasn't really that relevant, but times are changing, and close minded people need to see this. For the trillionth time, skin color does not define what or who you have to be. Like what you like in this life. To be hated for what I like is a gift then to be loved for what people think I'm supposed to be.
@Random Songs In Locrian in America. Trust me it's not that rare , but in some cases yes.
Metal is that kind of thing where you can add your own flavor and make it a thousand times better. Open minded people need to see this too. It's fresh and that drumwork is straight up enchanting.
@Random Songs In Locrian
Hmmm, I've listened to a few African bands and they didn't sound very hollow to me. Wouldn't mind if you showed me some examples. :P
I'm a geek that just plays video games all day but I'm a massive fan of metal, gonna be playing this music as I play ck3
❤🌍
African music-->blues-->rock n roll-->heavy metal-->African Metal. It's come full circle.
Your comment is beyond accurate
i'd say heavy metal was also heavily influenced by jazz too, especially with instrument technique and all that. same roots but still worth mentioning
No
Blues comes from folk music
Which mostly came from the Dutch who came to the new world, but nice try
@@victorkreig6089You're intentionally misrepresenting history in a way that goes against what we know to be reality. Pretty evil thing to do these days.
American blues originates from African slavery. The earliest record of blues existing in the United States comes from Black people being depressed about being slaves.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to lie on the Internet. Where people can easily look up the truth.
@@victorkreig6089"Victor Kreig" lol
African Metal. Now, that is something you don't hear of often. May them become legendary.
Check out Skinflint from Botswana :)
Yeah. it's pretty cool. i went over wikipedia for music genres and then just saw "African heavy metal" and went "wtf!!!?". I'll say that positively surprised
Africa actually has a thriving metal scene at the moment
@Paul The alien Check my channel out, feel free to subscribe as I give coverage to metal bands everywhere - currently doing a COVID-19 lockdown series.
@@xx_xxxxx_xx4800 Same path here!
Metal is the culture that unites people from all around the world regardless of their race and nationality. Metal knows nothing about immigration and borders. When all metalheads join together, they are all in family. It is good to see Africa sharing their metal talent!
At least should unite.🙄
Agree with you.
this is so stupid an untrue. so many metal people are openly racist and homophobic. nothing is generalizable in the world, also not metal. it's the bands and people in the metalscene who openly detach and distance themselve from bigotry and discrimination, who make this unity possible.
@@dreamdance4172 you're stupid
@@dreamdance4172
Totally agree!
And it's the only music gender wich has racist and supremacist bands.
Openly racist and (self told) supremacists.
@@zyon3101 yes that's sadly true.
We NEED more african metal.
Yes we do.
YES!
Yess!!
Hello Friend. We just need more metal. It is colourless. All the best tu everybody.
This band Is So heavy, i Jeep coming back. In Black
Agreed they Regina spread this b******* propaganda that most metal head groups are white supremacist. It's bullshit
Greetings! I'm a 7th Grade Science teacher in Massachusetts (USA). Last year while teaching 100% remotely due to coronavirus. I started giving my students a tour of modern African music, one country each day. I play the music in the background for the first few minutes while they do an opening task to get them ready for the lesson. I've continued this year now that we are back in class. I chose a different song from Togo last year, but decided to play this song this year. Most of my choices have been in the Afropop/Afrobeat genres, as the majority of my students are Black or Hispanic, and I thought they would find those genres appealing. However, I then I decided it's important to expose my students to many types of music and not to make assumptions about what they will like. After each song I have the students give a thumb vote and this got a lot more thumbs up than I had expected. In particular, they loved the African drum rhythms, and the story that the video tells. Several kids were banging their heads too. Thanks for making it!
Ooh! Thank you very much for your comment! It's really touching to hear that!! We send positive energy to all your students and hope we'll perform in your area one day so that you can enjoy it live, in real time! Thanks again and 😊🔥Stay safe!
Badass, I love african metal. Much respect, coming from an Native American metalhead. \m/
Everyone please signal boost this band. It’s disappointing how few people know of them, and this is some HIGH QUALITY metal. Much love from the states, guys! Gorgeous harmonies, fantastic balance of all of your musical elements, I am blown away by you guys.
There's something about traditional cultural instruments infused with metal that will always be more badass than anything else.
Yeah I see what you mean I remember hearing this Japanese band using piano plying classic style and it was great the transitions between the soft piano and the powerful guitar plays were amazing.
Yeaaaah, the Hu give me the same feeling
I came here out of curiosity "say, any metal bands from Africa popping up nowadays?". Togo? Metal? Now I listen to it because it is a FIIIIIINE piece of metal music, and it is really catchy! You do find a lot of it in the local metal scenes all over the world.
Jambinai is another great band from South Korea that fuse psychedelia and metal with traditional Korean instruments.
Sepultura/Soulfly.
African American woman here, been a fan of metal since I was five. Does my heart good to see African influence in metal genre! Good work fellas!
Greetings from a German Metalhead and Rock - Fan. :-)
Hi
Metal has its roots in the African American community during the segregation. African or black American people making metal their own is in a way coming full circle again.
The diversity in metal is strong💪✊🤘
sure when yu know the background
I'm black heavy-metal fan I never thought that was African heavy-metal we have so much suffering to sing about
Very talented individuals come from every continent, in this case Africa, and im glad they continue our Metal tradition
🤘🏽🎸🍻
I have no idea, this african rock band
There are literally HUNDREDS of metal bands from Africa. And True, there's so much to sing about
And even more culture and traditions to further immortalize through metal.
I just discovered them. They are the only one in Togo.
Hey Guys!
I'm an 49year old metal dude from Germany! Listening to this music for over 30 years. I saw your band at a documenatry on TV.
You are great! Be powerful, fearless and above all spread the power of this kind of music to your region of the world with the glourious message of free mind, social awareness and antiracism!
Gotta admit this ancient metalhead from the UK f*cking loves this.
Outstanding
This is very cool ,love the flavour africa puts into metal.
Awesome song guys
Thanks a lot! This is Metal merged with one of his own roots! 🙂 \m/
Africa and metal mix very well, even Mike Smith's drumming style on Effigy of the Forgotten reminds me of the Congolese jungle, black metalheads rock
I like it the same way I like sepultura with there trad Brazil influences look forward to some more African metal bands with traditional African music influence ie adding traditional instrument to their music . Any suggestions wou!d be great. Are there any African metal bands like iron maiden ?
@Random Songs In Locrian they did allready to create metal to begin with, but putting more "Africa" in the "Black Metal soup" sounds like it could be a deluciouse dish.
The tribal drumming, the chains, the fire, the facepaints are so badass!!
I'll be honest. I actively searched for "African Metal"...
I have zero regrets. :)
Same here lol
Also search for Carro Bomba
Brazilian Metal for ya
Me too bro
Same
me too
I realized that Africa was a continent and not a country ...
lol
Damn it ! As an afro descendant who has been into rock and metal for decades, this shit makes me happy !
This is not metal music‼️THIS IS BETTER ‼️ this is a whole different level, it hits seven no ten generations deep. Damn, this is why black people have to be carefully monitored and oppressed everyday ‼️otherwise we bring this beast system down with our spirituality. Much love and respect from amerikkka .🧘🏾
Wow! My Togolese metal head neighbours. Greetings from Ghana!🙌😊🍻..
Hey! Greeting, bro! It's a pleasure. If you are in Accra, don't miss our show at Alliance Française on Saturday 20th of July! We'll be happy to see you there! 😉
Glad to see Ghana has metalheads \m/ big hello from the UK
Arka'n Unfortunately, work has posted me outside Accra.. Would definitely be @ your show if I were in Accra this weekend.. Hope you do drop by again some other time. Would love to meet your band. During the day, I checked out your review on Joy news..😊

I'm African-American and i love metal music, I'm glad to see somebody of my race outside of America do metal music.
Thanks a lot, brother! Yeah, there are many metal players in Africa! And the scene keeps growing! 😊🔥
Nigerian American music lover here. Wishing this band so much success and good vibes! Much love!
Fu... sick!! Love your style!! Got to give credit to Africain métal, you guys just showed à différent mentality to the world.... respect!!
I love this. So cool to hear some traditional West African music mixed with heavy metal. I love both independently of each other and together, they are greater than the sum of their parts.
Love this band. One of my absolute favorites! Sharing your stuff with anyone who will listen!
Searched "African Folk metal" after listening to a lot if Heilung and got exactly what I needed, gods bless.
If it's of interest to you, there is also an Argentinian band called Arraigo, that mixes metal with different styles of the region (tango, candombe, folklore Andean music, Latin American rythms). :)
Haha! My same pathway here :)
Hello, a great shoot, a great tune, keep it shredding! Grettings from the Czech republic.
just discovered you and sitting here in Johannesburg, South Africa and going wow, yeah, awesome...rock 'n rule!!!!!!
i found bloodywood, alien weaponry, the hu and shepherds reign before anyone knew who they were. youtube has a history or presenting me with underground traditional culture x metal bands before they blow up mainstream. y'all are the next in line it seems. keep up the good work :)
From Russia. Absolutely love your music, guys. You are the best!
I'm sad I had to pass up a trip to Ghana last month. Doré would have been a quick Cincinnati to Cleveland trip down the road to meet men who make warrior music. Big kudos to you. My favorite discovery of 2021 so far.
Thanks a lot! Maybe this will be possible next time. 😊🙏🏾
This has to become the national Anthem of Togo!
I'm a mexican american that went down a rabbithole of metal from around the world and I'm glad I took the plunge. This is GOATED.
I've heard people of color say that they can't listen to music other than rap because it's part of their culture. Meanwhile in Africa... #Metal !
I just bought the album! I kept listening to this song on youtube and had to add it to my collection!
I especially searched for African metal songs and I didn't expect something of this quality!! This is ridiculously top tier!!!
Metal has no color boundaries. It's pretty much the only genre of music that brings people together.
Recently discovered this band and I am hooked. I love bands such as this one that stick to their cultural roots and incorporate their culture into metal music. This is a rarity and needs more representation in the metal world. Let’s get these guys famous ❤🖤
The future of metal, indeed. Outstanding stuff.
Big thumbs up from Hungary! The world could use more African Metal! Keep going!
!!!! The best african metal song i've listened, omg!! nice percussion, greetings from Mexico
Holy shit I love this. The use of your country's traditional percussion and language are absolutely amazing. Keep crushing, guys. I hope to see you at Wacken someday.

Africa needs more bands like this! Amazing stuff - hope to see you guys in Germany some day!
Hello, I am from Italy!
I have listened to your song "The Truth", the words in your language is very originals in a metal song, congratulations for showing your personality with some lyrics in your language, adding the translation in english! I enjoyed it! 😄
Respect from Romania!
I hadn't listened to metal for quite a while and found you guys a week ago. Compared to European metal players, you guys bring testosterone and manliness to the scene!
So happy to discover Arka'n and The Hu from Mongolia!
What !?!?!😍😍😍 we're sleeping on African Metal bands!!!
This is fucking great. Found it by randomly searching for African Metal. That guitar fucking riff is great.
I also like the riff where he’s fucking the guitar
Full respect to my Afrikaanse brothers👍
Hello African Metalbrothers! Great work! Greets from Switzerland!
Very cool and original! Kinda like the African version of Sepultura circa-Roots.
I'm just a simple metalhead from Minnesota USA and white as snow. My friends and I have been searching and found metal from Norway to South Africa to Egypt to Brazil to Japan, and you guys are in my top 5 of most unique metal I've ever heard :) I'm gonna be keeping my eye on you. 🤘🏼
I've been listening to this since 2020 when it had less than 50k views and now look at that nice 6 figure views! Let's make it 1 million before 2024!
Arkan deserves to be a pioneer of African Metal.
This is Art, Greetings From La Serena Chile 🇨🇱, UP THE ART!!!
Anyone else wanna see them tour with The Hu and Alien Weaponry?
the HU and Tribe Called Red....
Definitely. Why not throw Bloodywood and Gevolt into the mix
"Culture of Folk Metal" festival with a folk metal band from every culture or something.
Tristan Isaac, I would travel a long way to attend something like that!
Tristan Isaac I have a video on my channel that is basically a folk metal world tour while in quarantine: ua-cam.com/video/uND_BsKPkGA/v-deo.html
We Rock music fans like variety and adding different cultural elements into Rock and Metal gives us different flavors and unique styles. Even their makeups and overall image works well with the music. I don't expect African bands to imitate stuff from Europe or America and it's great that they come with their own ideas using their own languages and folk instruments.
These guys are Brutal as hell may they achieve worldwide fame and success
Greetings and all thumbs up from Germany - Go on! You guys rock so hard!
Yes metal brothers .... never give up ...I will share this ...
Epic 🔥, lots of Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Beyond the skin color, which at this point should not matter much, it cannot be denied that the song is quite good ... and the voice is very ad hoc ... the guitar solo is spectacular and the percussions impressive .. Good band, good song !!! Greetings and like
🙏🏾😊!!
Love from Nepal.Hail the metal music..
Love this. Real African metal music!
Music - great - Video - great. I am blown away.
I love that African harmony with this genre. So originally awesome!
Amazingly great innovative band, deserves to be known!
Cheers from South America!
Much love from the Philippines! \m/
I'm American, born in the Philippines, and I absolutely agree bro!
So good! When I first heard El Nino, I was in school back in Senegal, and I always thought "man, percussions is our shit!" And since then I always daydreamed of African metal that used distinctly African percussion and riffs based on our own cultural music style. Thank you for making this dream come true!
American bands, take note of this kick ass metal band from Africa.
Dude, you have new Fan. I support you 100%....Proud to hear African Metal, From Portugal....
Bravo Enigma Shoot pour le clip

Why I'd never heard of awesome African Metal? So I had one job to do. And boy, I love it.
I knew I would find an african metal band if I searched. Amazing job!
I obviously have no idea what they are singing about but they speak the universal tongue of metal badassery so I am down with this. Love the traditional percussions.
