Their ought to be a clause in their contracts that allows the BBC to claim back salary if an employee is fired in circumstances like his. That should apply to freelancers such as Lineker, who are contracted by their own companies to 'work' for the BBC. Better still, the contracts should allow the BBC to withhold payment, other than the bare minimum that the law requires.

The sir lenny henry media centre for diversity makes me chuckle. My brother in law cared for lennys mom when she was in hospital and lenny came to visit. I asked my brother what he thought of him. " A rascist" was his reply.

Yes, and it’s irritating as fk waiting for a person who can’t speak wobble their way through an unfunny monologue about their disability . It’s the equivalent of waiting for you to run round the track (last, like waaay last) then give a condescending clap and an aaaaaaaar, well done . Exactly. What needs to happen is to train those hiring that they ought to be choosing the person most capable for the job, regardless of gender, ethnicity or disability. It's arse backwards to have percentile targets for each gender, ethnicity and disability bracket. That's LITERALLY discrimination (affirmative action based upon gender, ethnicity or disability), which results in people more suited to the job being turned down because they are not a minority. It's insanity and a huge reason why so much of Hollywood's movies and TV shows are garbage these days; they don't have the right people for the job working on these movies/shows.
Sorry there John but you're wrong jobs on merit doesn't mean anything if it's not best for the job the problem is Believers of diversity thinks it doesn't discriminate when it actually does because you're showing bias towards and against certain people sorry for the comparison but I feel it's the modern day equivalent I'm sleeping your way to the top getting a high rank position just because you sleep with the boss that's what diversity feels like it's meant to be a good thing however you're running a series danger of Turning Away better qualified people in the name of diversity like I said in an earlier comment diversity driven businesses and services go out of business a lot quicker because they alienate potential customers I guess to them making money and losing money doesn't matter if it's not diverse enough and some of those companies have the nerve to wonder why they went out of business

I don't know if you watched it John, there was an enquiry in parliament yesterday. Talk tv covered it live. It was about huw Edwards, but later they began to discuss the broader issues at BBC. One discussion was about the future funding. It was an eye opener. Anyway BBC wants the government to fund them instead of the licence fee payer because of ever decreasing revenues. and their representatives made this very clear. BBC want to move into the online world and want a lot more money to do it. They say they can't survive or compete without a lot more money. Check it out.
I have hired and fired in the past and I am the same as you Jon, I only ever took into consideration the ability to do the job in the main, occasionally other things might creep in.
Imagine if the BBC had adopted a subscription service 20 years ago, running alongside their regular broadcasting. By now they'd be bigger than Netflix, earning more from their international audience than from their licence fee. They could completely cancel their licence fee, offer a single free news channel plus various subscription options. Instead they persist with their obsolete licence format.
Their obsession to tick every box is managing to alienate and annoy more and more viewers. The programs are poorer, the content of some is banal. It should be that anyone who can do the job the best, gets it, no matter what. Not , oh, we must include, this or that person even though others would do it better because it looks good on paper. The BBC becoming a part of the DEI nonsense and their getting into bed with Disney (for Doctor Who) are two of the big reasons why I cancelled my license fee the other week (the other reason being that I virtually never watched TV, much less BBC programmes). I'm kinda fearful now though; expecting the goons to visit, but I will do as you instruct and say "No, thank you" and shut the door in their face. However, if a court order for searching the premises occurs, then I'm worried because I own a computer with Internet access and I can well imagine the goons claiming that means that I need a license (despite the fact I literally don't watch iPlayer or other live TV services on it). I'm autistic and could do without the stress of it all.

It is almost impossible for me to watch your uploads, switch to another platform, such as Rumble ... Lenny Henry, you say? He can go do one - he is not the person, these days, who was a participant in Tiswas back in the day (yes, I'm old enough to remember!)
Why would you think that encouraging diversity means people that are less qualified end up getting jobs? Have you thought that most corporate jobs have a range of perfectly qualified people applying so they get to pick less on qualification and more on other traits such as personality or maybe just choosing more diverse candidates to increase diversity in the workplace which could in itself of greater positive impacts that a non diverse candidate with equal qualifications.
"Diversity" is just a posh word for "Woke". What annoys me is that the human race is diverse but companies like the BBC see "diversity" as people in wheelchairs, black, asian and gay, it's a form of positive discrimination in a way
Good grief. Making the BBC popular again is simplicity itself - start appealing to the average native Brit. This means stop being Far Woke, stop the creepy proselytising and start telling the balanced Truth. Unfortunately this is too much to ask.
I mean hiring based on someone's skin colour doesn't seem to be doing a great job for the BBC like 20 years ago maybe 30 I'd have been happy to pay for the BBC although a little annoyed that I have no option but to not do that but now that they have started hiring based on skin colour the effect has been less good shows. I don't actually think it's because they are hiring based on these things but because they hire what they consider downtrodden people and then don't want to show them doing things that might be negative or stereotypical. So they wouldn't want to show them killing someone or being an alcoholic or something so it makes the characters less believable and less relatable.
Why is it that the likes of BBC studios and BBC distribution and others like them are making such big profits. The answer is simple because the BBC are happy to pay them whatever they demand. The corporation don't care it's not their money. They know that no one will ask the question what happens to their profits or who ultimately will benefit from them.
Sounds like very expensive verbal Diarrhea to me.
Their diversity obsession is partly why people are changing channels, cancelling licences and generally sticking two fingers up
