    Ryan, great job! You've inspired me to try this and at the end of the day that's why I love your videos. I was out of the hobby for 22 years and am trying to catch up with technology. Thank you so much for helping all us old guys. Dave Foote

    Instead of seeding a bunch of rock with bacteria; I placed a bunch of biomedia in a container prior to setting my tank up. It turned out well. I wasn’t rushed trying to scape wet rock.

    Thanks for bringing us along on your journey. I've been in the hobby for about 25 years and recently let my setup go for a song as I prepared for a cross-country move. Watching you is keeping me engaged in the hobby while I am without a tank and excited to get another tank up and running soon! I deleted my Facebook so I am not sure if i'll be able to enter the giveaway but I would be thrilled to have a new RSM setup with that beautiful NSA to go along with it! Either way congrats on realizing your dream and thanks again for your contributions to this great hobby!

    Love it. At same time I was downsizing I came across Tidal gardens latest scape video and your 360 scape video. Had already seen what your calling an ‘NSA’ from a few reefers so gave it ago. I smashed up my already 10 year old live rock and over several days used putty & elastic bands (to hold together while it cured) creating branches/ shapes that were eventually put together to form a gravity defying NSA! Thing along with my bare bottom means tons of flow and barely any detritus build up. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Now to let the encrusters take over bottom glass!

    BRS heater controller is great. Only thing I would add is to view the current temp while it displays it’s overheating. Currently you have to wait for the temp to drop or change the set point if the water is too hot.

    Just wait until you need to catch a fish. I have a similar scape, and after making a quarantine mistake, I've been hunting the last velvet survivors for weeks now. Two to go, and then the fallow clock can start ticking. Looks great, but so difficult in these situations.

    Ok I’m stupid and hoping you guys @bulk reef supply can help me! At 36:20 in the video, you state that the ro res always stays full... I have an older BRS 7 stage unit (2 membranes, two pre, two carbon, two di), and just bought your new 7 stage pro plus as well. On my old unit, even with the float valve and auto shutoff, the unit keeps producing waste water and the pressure sky rockets. What am I doing wrong? How do I keep my supply valve open at all times to allow the unit to auto fill infinitely? I don’t want to mess up the new unit when I hook it up! Thanks 😊

    Inkburg heater controller is very much like your brs .

    • @adamorobertson
      @adamorobertson 4 роки тому

      I have one of those too. BRS was out of stock when I was buying. That’s probably where BRS has theirs manufactured. There are many advantages to the BRS version though. BRS version has a rubber temp probe and can be replaced. Inkbird’s is fixed and metal. It’s interesting that the BRS version can sustain a 1200 watt load but the inkbird sustains only 1100 watts. I think the BRS version also does finer controlling to 0.3° where the Inkbird needs like 1-2° swing

  • @adamorobertson
    @adamorobertson 4 роки тому +1

    I see the JBJ heater controller is 1000 watts max. Is there a heater controller that’ll sustain 1200 watts or is it common to use separate heater controllers? (Edit) looks like the BRS controller does 1200 watts!

      Many rules have been put into place around the world over the last 3-4 years. Those rules only apply to rock that is still in the ocean, not rock that has previously been harvested

    I’m only using consuming anion as well, no idea why

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  4 роки тому

      The most common water contaminants are negatively charged, so it's normal to burn through more Anion resin than Cation 🙂

    I'm wondering why your trace of sand and rock did not serve the same purpose and how the same result of having sand in your tank

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому

      A different type of sand was used in the sump trays. But comparatively speaking, the sand in the display results in way more sand than Ryan could fit in the sump.

    Sand in the tank, problem, sand in the sump, a filter...

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  4 роки тому +1

      The high flow in the display vs lower flow in the sump is a consideration too. Not to mention that the sand trays in the sump are easier to access. I think we can all agree that sand, regardless of location, absolutely acts as a biological filter.
