Question, does the clinical experience have to be in the specialty you apply to? Or is it still a good thing even if I don’t apply to that. I’m in between a few specialties, that’s why I’m asking haha
Hi Dr Malke, I'm a medical student at Aleppo university. I would like to know how you could do three electives in the US. Were the elevtives before or after you graduated medical school?
Where I can get his Instagram or LinkedIn ? Pls I’m planing to apply ENT, I’m a IMG done my ENT speciality in Russia then PhD public health in Russia taking steps in this 2024
Your videos have been very helpful to give us this perspective. My dream specialty is ophthalmology. Do you know any IMG who has matched into ophthalmology? If so, can you please interview them?
Hi friend! Let me help you! The answer is yes, you have a chance. I have a student who failed step 1, failed step 2 ck, IMG, and able to match (even in a more competitive program than mine!). My advice for this is using backdoor method: rotate in residency program that is IMG friendly, and impress them. This is what he did.(and in fact, many people did when they fail steps or trying to get to competitive programs). Hope that helps!
I have graduated MBBS in 2019. Since then I started clinical job in pediatrics. It’s been more than 3 years I am practicing pediatrics in my home country. If I start taking preparation for USMLE is there any chance I will get accepted in residency in future ? Please reply
Hi! Let me help you. There are a lot of programs in the US. There are some that is strict with year of graduation, but there are those that are not strict. So you are actively engaged clinically, these does not count as gaps, so programs would appreciate that. My IM program for example have cardiologist that has been practicing in their country for a while and he is able to match. So bottomline, you definitely have a chance. Good luck!
