The big dog! Nice, this 130 light amplified stimulated electromagnetic radiation 3-D bird is fantastic, and you've great touch. Narly f'n flying my friend -- our Chollas Flyers Mascot! Also, I've almost nerve to maiden my Viper 70mm right there at Chollas...

Any idea what’s the max RPM with this prop combo is? Thx

@@yf222000 I just listen to it and look at the spark plugs after a speed run and dead stick landing. Sounds good. Runs good. It’s dependable. That’s all I look for. The DLE is a monster.

@@CoeShow619 Thanks for the reply. I’m in the process of breaking in a new 130. The engine is swinging the 26X12x3 prop at 6K currently on the very first run. Just curious as to what RPM you got out of your setup.

@@yf222000 I just don’t use a tach. Sounds low because the manual says it’s 13 horsepower at 8500 rpm. They recommend a 28x10. I’m on a 28x9.5 recommend by Ryu. Back in the day is we knew what prop ran good, we do this equation. 28x2 =56 + 9.5 , so 65.5 is the “power” number. So if I was to get a 27 x 12 what does that do? 27x2 =54 + 12 , so this power number is 66. So in theory this prop would cause more rpm loss in motor but pull harder than the bigger diameter with less pitch. This is all for two blade props. I have no clue what formula for 3 blades. That’s all I know. Listen to it. Does it sound like Ricky Carmichael shredding the motocross track on a 250 2 stroke ? Does it idle, does it pull out or cough and sputter. Plus break in is gonna take at least a gallon. Start flying. Put recommended prop on for break in. Don’t lug it.

Are you running redline 30:1 or the lawnboy break in stuff? Or maybe something else?

I use Motul 800 2t off road synthetic at 32:1 for one gallon which this flight is, and I use 40:1 mix after first gallon. And generally lean low end two screw driver blades.

@@CoeShow619 oh wow. No idea about that engine. All my dle’s say to run them at 30:1. That’s a newer engine they came out with also I think. Awesome plane. I think they say now to go full synthetic like you said. Motor sounds great.

@@joshwilson243 I always use mechanical knowledge instead of relying on a manual that is basically CYA. Cova yo ass ! So 30:1 just sounds like mud in the cylinder. 32:1 synthetic still spooges the cowl and shows the oil residue. If it’s coming out, it’s definitely in the cylinder too. Check temps. Keep the cylinder head under 220 during break in. The temp will lose heat every time you run it. It now runs 180 degrees at 40:1 and dependable. Always listen to the engine, not the guy with the manual at the field. Also, oil does not burn , so if you have more oil you are actually lean on gas, so in karting we would run 50:1 with a richer jet in the carb, like richening the needle, and basically since the volume of fuel is more, the oil content is near the same. Plus it all burns which makes power. I’ve used Motul 2t for my dirt bike racing, my Rotax Kart racing and now all of my gas airplanes. It’s European and dependable. Smells good and runs like a raped ape. Run the engine, pull the plugs. If they are not tan, the engine is too cold, or too hot. Black oily plug is not dependable. It will dead stick after it loads up. A white plug is too hot. It will burn all the fuel in the cylinder , get way too hot , loose power first, then die and dead stick.

@@CoeShow619 well shit now you got me a bit worried lol. I guess I’ll have to pull my plugs! Iv just broke them in then tuned them out with a tach and good transition. I do always have some of the oil spots on the belly and elevator but you got me really wanting to check my plugs! Thanks buddy for all the advice

No problem man. The plugs actually prove how it’s heart is pumping. So basically any engine is like this. I had to look at the Studebaker plugs every run to make sure I didn’t melt my pistons at 200mph. Richer is safer. Lean blows up. So to hit that middle tan coffee with creamer color. Plus you have two needles. If it gurgles coming off throttle like mine does in this video, it’s too rich. I have a video I’ll post later. You can hear that mine is still rich even at 40:1. Plus my cylinder head temp with infrared temp gun was only 163 degree Fahrenheit today. It’s gonna sound clean next flight after I lean the low needle.
