We hope you enjoy this fun episode! It definitely got dated XD, filmed on May 18th, it took a while to get this one out.
I’m still blown away by the lyrics and writing of Eclipse. I can’t think of a more underrated album.
First album and I’m already angy… ima go angrily listen to pattern in pain now
Keep listening, I promise it gets better 😅🤣🤟
I love yall. But trying to put the god machine as D is insanity. And Sean might have brain rot with the comments on “hell below” haha I absolutely love the podcast keep it up yall!!
When we gonna get another one of these for (impending doom/ for today/ sleeping giant/ abr or underoath-and you can just put the two albums after the come back automatically into F tier since they aren’t Christian records lol)
🤣😅🤟
Blood in the tears is one of my favorites ballads of DH, that hurt D:
All phinehas albums are nothing less than S tier 😭
This episode is great xd i hope for more like this
Glad to hear that! 🤟🙏 hopefully another one sometime soon!
Chris, I hear ya, but you had me emotionally unwell during the Phinehas portion 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What happened? You guys talked about wolves at the gate types and shadows and never said war in the time of peace. It is like top 3 wolves at the gate song, I sing every word in the song and it brings me close to tears every time I hear it. Steve explains the lyrics in a UA-cam video. It’s an absolute blast of a song and my favorite by far on the album.
Congrats to Sean on the newborn! I see him rocking the Meadows hat, I'm gonna be seeing them on August 2nd in Pomona, maybe I'll see him there? 🤔😅
1:48:24 I just can't get into Jimmy's vocals. I know I am in the minority of the minority. They are off putting to me and don't match the music.
Dark Flag C tier? This is a joke, right? The worst album Phineas has is an A tier.
I think we would agree with the sentiment. BUT for the sake of rating the rest of their discography to show the difference we had to spread it out.
Like I think we can all agree that Phinehas is an A tier band!
yall are cooked on the Demon Hunter albums
XD
As much as I dig the Swedish melodeath influence that started to propel Demon Hunter with TWIAT, we seldom are reminded that half these guys were in The Showdown. You really hear it on “Bet My Life”, which is largely perfect lyrically (dunno about fire imagery when speaking of the New Heavens and the New Earth).
That’s their best song, IMO. Therefore, while I dug most of this show, I was stunned that you didn’t mention that track when softening the landing for Peace.
When you said DH Shallow Water was a throw away track, you lost me. I’ve been listening to DH since the beginning.
Triptych not being in S is wild
Quality is subjective lol!
True!
1:30:12 Convalecse, Chasing the Wind, Hindsight is the best three run songs in the WATG catalog. All three are lyrical tearjerkers. Emotion on emotion.
Wait you didn't rate Lost In Translation for Wolves 😢
we wanted to reserve this list for the mainline discographies of these bands. so cover albums, or in the case of Demon Hunter and WATG no acoustic records either.
Summer of Darkness any lower than B is a travesty
😅
Woop! Also love the last band you did (won’t spoil it) have a great one guys
Haha thanks man!
Can we give it up for Scott Whelan, his genius guitar playing was on Attack of the Wolf king and Thegodmachine! 🤘🏼
🤟🤟🤟🤌👏👏👏
True Defiance in C tier crushed my soul
sorry XD, it truly is a good album though. you have to also keep in mind this is kind of an "in the moment" discussion. Its so hard to keep it all straight. but I think its a collective average between the two of us and its fairly accurate. but everyone will think differently!
I remember December 2013 i wasa freshman on high school. I got home from finals and my dad told my younger brother and I “you guys have to hear this” and put on Infected by Demon Hunter. I still remember being in math class a few months later getting a notification on UA-cam for a new Demon Hunter song, Artificial Light and I bought it immediately after hearing it on UA-cam. They’re my all time favorite Christian band, and I feel there isn’t a single album by them I hate
🤟🤟🔥🔥
1:37:10 you are right about looking back foundly with nostalgia. If you listened to We Are The Ones with fresh ears, there's no chance that it is same tier ad Types and Shadows.
Types and Shadows is my favorite WATG record. The time it came out every song brought me to tears. It is their most underrated album
Absolutely agree! It never gets as much attention as the other albums and I kinda get it as the songs aren't quite as catchy. But I can't think of an album that has had as much impact on me lyrically. Honestly helped me understand the beauty of the gospel on a deeper level.
@andrewryanart Amen brother! I was really going through a time of struggling with sin so songs like Convalese and Chasing the Wind really got me
Also another episode of this would be awesome!
Good to know! Thank you!
@ForTheRock thank you guys. You and All Consuming have been the bulk of what I've listened to the past couple of years
