@Zack_Zander It took way *way* too long for me to realize this, but, she's effectively a wolf version of an Inari.
They're like a Kitsune but are Harvest Spirits (usually rice). Senko-san being a good example.
Holo is basically a Wheat Inari (except Wolf not Fox).

Yeah, she was very, very thin and petite. The animation also left something to desired (old anime) and her body often wasn't anatomically correct (same with Lawrence). Here it's much better. She looks lake a normal, if petite, woman

Are they the same just renewed or different story?
The first anime (2 seasons) adapted the first few novels, but changed a few things and skipped one novel, then ended well before any conclusion. This year's version is a remake that will redo those seasons with the missing novel restored and the changes undone. It also hints at a promise to continue into further material if possible. I highly recommend it!
