You know, the state of over 40 million people who have gas in their homes. Have you by any chance heard or read about all of the fires caused by electrical lines? Seen the videos of the absolute fury of entire cities wiped out by electrical fires? The state is literally being burned to the ground caused by electricity. ANY source of power is dangerous and can cause immense damage. I'm sorry for the homes damaged or destroyed and the loss of life here. But next time all you natural gas haters and experts want to condemn a source of reliable energy for more than a century drive on over to my state and travel through the absolute devastation of towns and forests caused by electrical power lines. And there are more homes destroyed by fire from electrical shorts than by natural gas. Also, natural gas has a very strong and easily identifiable odor added to it to make it more noticeable when leaking. This is unlike that wire in the attic shorting out that can go for hours before it erupts into flame. Finally, don't confuse natural gas with propane. Propane is much more dangerous than natural gas because it is heavier than air so it pools up on the ground whereas natural gas is lighter than air and dissipates in the air. Of course if any combustible substance is trapped in an enclosure it is exceedingly combustible. Sorry for being long winded😟 I just get tired of the bum rap this valuable source of energy gets sometimes.🫤

I live in Evansville as well. It’s been a week and still no indication of what it may have been. Hard to believe it’s taken this long. Centerpoint went out and said there was no gas leak but everybody just wants to know what happened. Very strange. My friend was at a restaurant half a mile away having lunch with friends. Had he left at the time one of the guys left he would’ve been right there driving down the street on the way home. Thank God he stayed and chatted with another buddy. Five minutes later he took a detour to go home and he said there was still debris in the air falling to the ground. I just thank God my best friend stayed at the restaurant. There are no coincidences.
Michael Newell: I do not think this is a time to make it about you and some drama of a small possibility of what could have happened. Real people were killed, and it’s not about you and that silly story.
I was on Weinbach going south at about 10 seconds from the blast zone and collateral damage. You talk about luck I had passed this home twice in 10 minutes and on the third trip down Weinbach this area turned into a mushroom cloud like you wouldn't believe. From my viewpoint I couldn't see how this could be gas but possibly a plane crash on approach would be more identical but there was no wings and tires in the debris.
I remember this happened here in Michigan years ago. I lived in Troy and it happened miles away in royal oak and I heard the explosion. Absolutely heartbreaking.

People don’t realize what our first responders do for us day in and day out because they love what they do and they are willing to die if it means someone will be safe and they definitely don’t do it for the money they do it because that’s what they are meant to do. It takes special people to put their lives on the line if it means someone will not have to. Their families understand that they might not be coming home at the end of their shift. It’s sad more people don’t thank them for what they do for us every day. God bless them all and the families who lose love ones but they know they died doing what they loved. Thank you for your service and god bless you.
Money is an incentive for anyone, we need money to survive. Its not a bad thing if people work for money, but im not trying to be negative theres to much of that in the world. Hope everyone a speedy recovery have a good day anyone reading.
I’ve had two really close friends lose their lives on the job and one of them just got married and had a baby on the way and they just purchased their first house and he told her every time he left for work that he loved her and the baby but if god’s plan says it’s his time just remember I died doing what I love. He was sitting in his cruiser filling out reports because back then they were hand written and some coward walked up to his window and murdered him in cold blood. It was 26 years ago but not a day goes by that we don’t think of him. That’s why I always thank all that I come across for their service and let them know that they are in our prayers to make it home safely at their end of watch. Only a small few have that passion in them to want to be there for people in need all the while knowing that at any moment could be their last. Bless all of you.
I have an old house with a furnace from the 1940's, but hey, it worked. Then we had a few inches of water in our basement from heavy rains in May and (unbeknownst to me), the water put out my pilot. So from May until November, my furnace pilot line was dumping gas into my basement (since it was summer, we weren't using the furnace). That's how old houses become bombs. Fortunately, my furnace was vented outside so all the gas was just going out into the outside. Needless to say, that old furnace is gone now and replaced with a new one. Of course, I don't know if that's what happened here... but the old stuff sure is dangerous. Especially when the gas meter is located INSIDE the house. RIP to those who passed on.
Evansville resident. My friend was babysitting nearby when this happened and heard/felt everything. When I first heard about it I expected it to be a meth lab. My husband knows someone who knew the people in that house and it was definitely not meth.
I really appreciate the haste the officers are using when clearing houses. It's not like a clearing with a fugitive, it's just a simple check to see if anyone is injured/dead. Im curious why so many fire men said that they hadn't checked buildings yet. I guess they have their own order of operations?
That’s just incredible, I’ve heard of the house explosions over the yrs, but never had any had this much devastation to so many homes from 1 house explosion…that’s just insane.
Nobody thinks I'm going to die today because my house is going to blow up! That's awful. This video is going to get ppl thinking. You just don't quite feel safe in your home too much now. RIP 🌹
Centerpoint is a corrupt company that deserves to pay for this tragedy, how can you tell dispatch moments after the explosion that "We have a technician already in route, they wont be long as it was a known issue" and then come out and say there was no gas leak in the area even though they were surveying the morning of the explosion. Us Evansville residents need to demand an external investigation by a third party.

It’s starting to really bug me seeing others with their phones out recording a tragedy in which people lost their lives. A similar situation of that happened when I was stopped on a hwy for a car wreck that took a life and severely injured another…. We are so brain broken and have totally lost all respect with these little computers in our pockets 🤦🏻♀️
People would rather record it then help out. I've seen many videos where females are being assaulted right in plain view and nobody is doing anything but recording it. Social media has killed humanity. Nobody has any morals or values anymore.
If it was a gas leak as many speculate, I experienced such an explosion from about a mile away (as the crow flies) in the 80s. I was inside my house and felt a strong THUMP on the wall. I thought something had crashed into the house! I can’t imagine what it would have been like nearby!
This happened to a neighbor several years ago and it was a gas explosion. She smelled gas and called the gas company and they came out and said she could turn back on the gas and the whole house exploded but nothing like this. Neighbors houses were not affected like this at all!
I wish we knew what caused this, and what could be done to keep it from happening again. It looks like the aftermath of a tornado. Very saddened to hear that lives were lost in this tragic event.
My question is why are so many homes exploding in this country from natal gas lately?? Two down the street from myself a couple of yrs ago, one person didn't make it.

science, the explosion was contained .. .... which litterally blew everything. the explosion / fire ball was inside something/ underground and hidden by all the debris ... did you ever see a whole terrain lift off because of an underground explosion .... no fire at all just the earth going up and when gas is burning nothing else catch fire thats how it work the heat isnt there for long enough
It is bound to be a gas explosion. The same thing happened here in Christchurch, New Zealand. A tradesman was working on a gas heater and planned to return to finish the job the next day. He didn't disconnect the gas supply to the heater, nor did he tell the homeowners not to use the gas. The house filled with gas overnight and the next day it exploded. Amazingly the 5 people in the house at the time survived, but they were all seriously injured.
What a crazy scene to walk up on, house after house severely damaged and now you have to clear the houses and check for injuries. Luckily it seems like mostly structural damage
Very strange how this keeps happening. In the early 90s my son's father was in an explosion an hour and a half up north from Evansville also in Indiana. They're also not 100% what caused it & if it were gas or propane. He lost 4 family members & barely survived himself. He doesn't consider himself a burn victim since it was a flash explosion & it basically just melted them. Hard to get him to talk about it tho. But what...is...happening?! RIP to those who lost their lives & condolences to the families affected.
In 2012 there was a natural gas explosion in Indianapolis subdivision Richmond Hills. It was an insurance scam attempt. It killed 3 and destroyed a couple dozen homes and a damaged like 75. there is a Wikipedia page on it and was featured on the show American Greed
It’s gotta be natural gas leaks. It’s interesting how some cities like these in Indiana can’t or won’t confirm the causes of these entire houses being obliterated by a freak explosion. an explosion where there is no flames either.
With all things considered it's amazing this doesn't happen all the time. Gaslines are dangerous obviously but maintaining them is where you get into trouble.
We had this happen in my home town of St Cloud, MN on December 11, 1998. A construction crew accidentally drilled into an underground gas line, it leaked into the basement of an adjoining building, where they believe the furnace set it off. It destroyed several building, killed four people (one woman was struck by an air conditioner while returning to work), and injured eleven others. It shattered windows in buildings for several blocks, and could be heard all over town.
Slow the video down and watch at 0.10 the bottom left of the screen at how the shock wave vibrates the bushes and makes the road at the cross walk look like it bounces.
I find it hard to believe this was a home gas leak. The leak necessary to cause that initial force would have been detectable for hundreds of feet in every direction by scent over a very long period of time. In addition, homes, especially older homes like these, are not near air tight enough to hold that incredible amount of pressure. Finally, the complete absence of flame in the initial blast and any significant post-explosion fire is not in any way consistent with a natural gas blast. There’s more to come on this one…..
You should have seen at about 10 seconds away from crossing this path go south on Weinbach. My first question was did everything show up at the airport that's a short distance from this bomb site that has a lot collateral damage.
Years ago in the town I live in we had a natural gas explosion in the basement of a BIG brick building downtown housing several businesses. The gas had been leaking for a while before it exploded and it took out most of a city block. Any type of lab explosion meth or otherwise would not cause such a huge explosion. That was definitely a big gas explosion.
It's always a gas leak when it's that big. No drug substrates have that much potential energy when mixed in the amounts they would be at a residential house.
The gas company knows they have cast iron lines that have been freezing and thawing for 100 years. They eventually crack, leak and It's not safe! They don't want to put out the millions it will take to fix the situation. Therefore, it's likely to be "undetermined" just like the one 5 years ago 1/2 mile away that also killed 3 people.
How about "respectfully" "everyone please go, thank you, it's for your own safety" it's really not that hard and maybe cops would be given alittle more respect back any other time🤨 Ps, thanks for your service to "PROTECT AND SERVE" when you do👍🏻
Yea nothing like breaking into peoples houses for what reason? I would not rule it’s a probable cause to break into other peoples houses that are not on fire, that just got hit with debris.
@@kyle1717 Haven't you heard of a blast field? The people inside the homes could have been hurt by the concussive force of the blast. They had to check each house for any injured people.

I have been a firefighter for over 40 years being an officer most of the years, and any time I responded to a natural gas leak situation odor, leak call I was always slightly on edge until I was able to monitor and mitigate. You can respond to 100s if not 1000s of these calls and all it takes is one situation that goes south. Natural gas will bite you quickly if not taken seriously taking a nonchalant approach. This situation could have been a lot worse if minutes earlier a reported gas odor was dispatched to the fire department and fire company was on location investigating when the explosion occurred.

There are no coincidences.
maybe it wasnt a gas leak, because centerpoint blew em up on purpose 🤫
Michael Newell: I do not think this is a time to make it about you and some drama of a small possibility of what could have happened. Real people were killed, and it’s not about you and that silly story.
What do you mean by “there are no coincidences”?
I was on Weinbach going south at about 10 seconds from the blast zone and collateral damage. You talk about luck I had passed this home twice in 10 minutes and on the third trip down Weinbach this area turned into a mushroom cloud like you wouldn't believe. From my viewpoint I couldn't see how this could be gas but possibly a plane crash on approach would be more identical but there was no wings and tires in the debris.

Firefighters are the 🐐. Cops suck tho
Yes we do, they put on uniform and go to work.

I was thinking if it was gas would you not smell it? Especially after the explosions
Anyone going to talk about how they stopped talking about this case for the last 3 weeks or more?
What was the cause of the explosion?
EDIT: Best guess can be a defective gas connector or leaking propane tank

Great point
science, the explosion was contained .. .... which litterally blew everything.
the explosion / fire ball was inside something/ underground and hidden by all the debris ...
did you ever see a whole terrain lift off because of an underground explosion .... no fire at all just the earth going up
and when gas is burning nothing else catch fire thats how it work the heat isnt there for long enough
explosion from gas from outside the house maybe idk
Not strange at all. Gas or propane does not need to be on fire for an explosion
Something Bleve'd massive damage!! Holy moly God speed to these people
The collateral damage is jaw dropping!!

Holy Toledo! sounds very shocking. got a media link to that unfortunate incident?
So sad to hear that another fire took life may he rest in peace and prayers to the family
What are you saying?
Did you even watch the same video?
You have to wonder about people sometimes. Fire???? Wut???
My first question was did everything show up at the airport that's a short distance from this bomb site that has a lot collateral damage.
was a 26 yr old girl and figured out gas lines....nothing of mine blew up. 5 houses and all 10 fingers later--just understand it. hermit who reads.
That happened in Rochester
Same here - in downtown Ottawa around 1990. A man lit a cigarette in the underground parking garage and the building blew up.
From U.K i pray for all of you.
Oh wow, this is crazy 😯 so sad . What caused the explosion.
Watching from Winnipeg, Manitoba,Canada
Undetermined, may be gas leak. 3 dead (2 in the house that blew up, 1 next door) at least 39 homes damaged (at least 11 un inhabitable). So sad.
Turns out infrastructure related. Gas lines, one of the many things we made ignoring for decades.
@Forcedtolie Aboutblacks bro who going to have 10,000 cans of butane
I do not live in the US, but can you use lpg tanks rather than having a dedicated line/pipe for gas?

Horrible situation! So sorry and sad for these families who lost loved ones in the horrible explosion!
