"I would like to invite you on a journey with me, to explore the process of making art that lives in public space. Although my projects may look physically different from one and other, the topics I have tangoed with, over the years, have connecting threads. These projects take place across the globe including Russia, India, China, Argentina, Brazil, and Canada. Image making and story sharing are central to my practice."
Robin Lasser is a Professor of Art at San Jose´ State University. She produces photographs, video, site-specific installations, and public art dealing with public health, environmental issues, and social justice. Lasser has been making environmental art for over three decades. She will share facets of work connected to four long term projects: Dress Tents, Migratory Cultures, Tent Talks, and Ice Ships Weep. Lasser invites you on a journey to explore the process of making art that lives in public space. Although her projects may look physically different from one and other, the topics she tangoes with, over the years, have connecting threads. Lasser works collaboratively, in the public sphere, creating social sculptures and providing opportunities for communities, local and global, to engage in experiences that highlight social, public health, and environmental issues; the relationships between ourselves and the world we occupy. These projects take place across the globe including Russia, India, China, Argentina, Brazil, and Canada. Image making and story sharing are central to her practice.
