Blue Peter presenters living dangerously

- Them Jackass boys ain't got nothing on the old skool Blue Peter presenters. Watch Valerie Singleton take a lion for a walk. First in the zoo which is probably contravening several Health and Safety recommendations. Then out and about, milling around with some young children and on to the local store (the shopkeeper's face says it all), Peter Purves pointlessly drive a car through a furniture van (but at least he has a scarf over his mouth for safety)and Lesley Judd almost get smashed to bits and drowned abseiling from a lighthouse. Did Biddy Baxter really hate them or was it a bizzarre initiation rite?

Thanks, been looking for the Leslie Judd clip for years.
MY BABY!!!! My dad hand reared Valentine and I used to play with him at home. Miss you baby boy and so sad about what happened to you. XXXXXX
Lesley Judd I salute you.
That's a fantastic clip. I didn't realize it was all the way back in 1975. Wow.
I lived near the zoo and saw Valarie walking the lion.
Pardon my language but Bloody Hell!! Brave lady!!! If I had to do that I would have pooed myself! Lolz
I've just read on Wiki that her harness had snapped and that she couldn't swim, so, as you said - brave lady!
So sweet how he wants to read the newspapers...
Hahahaha. Oh, I just love Peter Purves so much more now.
Ment to add that Valentine was named after Valerie Singleton, my dad always took the apes up to the studio and knew the presenters well.
Coooool! You must've been everyone's best friend back then, in the show's heyday?
Bishop Rock Lighthouse. I remember when that was shown originally! It has a helipad on it now!
Aah, good old Val.
I think the Llama proved to be the smartest in the first clip.
Goodness, that lion really wants to play!!
Terrifying!
Lion omg
When I was a child in the sixties there were three women you listened to; your mother, HM the Queen and Valerie Singleton. She was a font of knowledge and wonderful entertainment. Of course I still have my Blue Peter badge from those days as well:
Wonderful. Those were the days! Blue Peter was a PROPER British children's ( and adults) programme back then. How things have changed - not for the better either. Bless you Val, John, Peter, and Lesley. Oh, and Biddy too.
She was lucky she wasn’t killed.
They wouldnt do anythign like this nowadays... lol
+Jay Bee
Well, she couldn't swim appareantely, it's like a public murder attempt.
Was this Leslie Judd or Valery Singleton, that almost killed herself doing this stunt? Peter Duncan would be proud.
looool take a male lion in that shop everyfink in dat shop would be gone even if it was in a meat market everyone would be running away fast as they could i love lion in the city to do stuff
