the lughing man gave me nightmares as a child lmao i'm glad blackpool pleasure beach has managed to keep hold alot of its history as well as invest and improve the park.
The Greatest Show On Earth ride was called The Wonderful World Of Entertainment Ride before it was moved from the White Tower building, the original track and scenes were fabulous....
That's not sad, that's genius! That laugh's the sound of Blackpool for me, we used to stay with my dad's pal who stayed in the houses behind the Pleasure Beach when we went there and you could even here it there in the distance, that and the Alice and Wonderland ride! : )
OMG this is a fab film brought back such memories thank you very much i loved thew greatest show on earth and now is a bloody burger king disgraceful. And who can forget the Torkedo Express that was great
Last time i went 90s rode the big one! That laughing thing in 50s terrified me at 3 yr old my older brother would pin me to the glass. And say i was going in there on its knee forever. IT
that ride at 4.25, I dont even remember that at all and ive been going to pleasure beach since i was tiny but me n my mate went few week back and even tho noahs ark is a kiddys thing we went on it and we ended up in stitches, we were rocking, squezzing past things felt like an assault course very funny!!!
Since the fiver fee to just walk around the pleasure beach, my youngest two haven't seen the things in there, like my older three did. As a child my family took photos of us outside the gold mine on the bench with two false people, and I took photos there too, with the date in the background of my first three. Loved walking round and watching the rides and going on the Little Dipper and log flume. The laughing clown was part of the memories. So my 9 and 5yr old haven't experienced any of that. We go straight to the zoo now then Stanley park then a drive down the front and sometimes the planet park across from the disco ball behind the building there or down to St.Annes to have a picnic in the car on the pier like drive there by the lake and sea.
That's not a real person, it's mechanical. I used to go to Blackpool on holiday almost every year and it kinda freaked me out and facinated me as a kid. Now I like it in a kitch kind of way! : ) BTW, it's had several costume changes since then but I like this one the best, reminds me of childhood.
plsure beach Blackpool is better now no mater what people say and i agree with the entry fee it makes the park feel family friendlyand keeps out troble makers and makes the park feel safe when it was free you had drunks and some time felt unsafe you dont have that now its five pound and id with have that couse the park feels safe
I remember how uncomfortable this was no paddling, or belting in and lots of bruises, ohhh the memories xx The difference between the big one 😳well yes padding and a belting system but boy did it breakdown. Stay safe stay well
That Wonderful World ride freaked me out as a kid. My sister loved ghost trains & I didnt & we got on this ride & I was terrified. For me there was something sinister about it & I asked my sister if she liked it & she said no, that she wanted to get off. It was freaking her out too, so I knew I wasnt just being my usual wimp. Even when I think about it as an adult, anxiety comes over me. It was way too creepy...the darkness & all those creepy puppets 🥴
The only bad thing about UK theme parks is you are up against the weather. Plus seasonal work (park operation) and early closing times. 5.30pm was standard for most.
It's also compared to Kennywood because of the Noah's Ark (only recently been disused at Blackpool but, thankfully, not demolished), dual racing rollercoaster, and the two world's oldest operating old mill type/river caves ride (sadly a theme at Kennywood now called Garfield's Nightmare which , whilst arguably a psychedelic feat, doesn't so much look an 'old mill' ride feat). Kennywood is sweetly referred to on plaques at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Ok..does anyone happen to know the names of the musical songs, featured in the greatest show on earth ride at 4:20 and 4:53 ? I remember this ride as a 5 year old and I'd really like to find the music to listen back to. I recognize "zip-a-de doo da" in there, but not the other tracks, they sound so nostalgic..can't stop humming along! XD
@BusterMissy1 No that was 2004 when it caught fire from an electrical fault and it took two years to repair it was only the station that was on fire none of the track was damaged.
I also remember there was a cloan on a trapeeze in the funhouse that used to climb up and flip - i never went in there because of that clown, scared the crap out of me, you could see it from the monorail. Also i'm curious as to what was in the haunted house that was politically incorrect! someone tell me! lol
you wround ive been there and paid it entry for one person is 6 pond on the gat and gate price wrist band 29.99 on the day and 25 pound on line there are the prices perperson and the park is a lot cheaper then any other uk theme park
i went to blackpool last week and saw this clown. it seriously annoyed me and creeped me out as i could hear it all over the park XD my bf even recorded it :( sad
I didn't video it, it's taken from a DVD I bought about British Parks from Joyland Books.
This is how i remember the pleasure beach, back in the 90s, classic era. I'll never forget it!

I wish the park still opened that late, I remember when it was busy they would push the closing time back an hour.
Why would they get rid of the greatest show on earth ride I would love to go on that it's just criminal to have got rid of that ride
Did they smash it up
That laughing clown omg so creepy creeped me out as a kid still does 😳😱
Same
I thought i had dreamt the greatest show on earth ride. Thank god im not going mad!! BPPB is now where near as good as it was in the 90's
That's not sad, that's genius! That laugh's the sound of Blackpool for me, we used to stay with my dad's pal who stayed in the houses behind the Pleasure Beach when we went there and you could even here it there in the distance, that and the Alice and Wonderland ride! : )

blackpool pleasure beach will be nothing without the big one and the classic wooden coasters
Last time i went 90s rode the big one! That laughing thing in 50s terrified me at 3 yr old my older brother would pin me to the glass. And say i was going in there on its knee forever. IT
That laughing clown freaked me out as a kid still does its hauntingly creepy 🤪😱
I never knew that noah ark thing above the main entrance used to be a walkthrough

No internet and UA-cam in 1935. Must’ve been hard I’m those days.

The laughing man is why I don't queue for the Avalanche
How scary is that creepy laughing clown. He's scarier than Pennywise.
WOW the structure of the big one looks a lot more bolder now than it did then for some reason
ROLLER COASTER KID that's because in 1994 the drop was changed and made steeper and the turn on the drop was added

That Wonderful World ride freaked me out as a kid. My sister loved ghost trains & I didnt & we got on this ride & I was terrified. Someone should make a horror film set at Blackpool Pleasure Beach featuring that clown. It could make IT seem like Playschool.
my lord the alice ride...i love how its for kids and when we just sat on it, it just took off so fast lol! XD man it was quite fast.....lol lol
The only bad thing about UK theme parks is you are up against the weather.
Plus seasonal work (park operation) and early closing times. 5.30pm was standard for most.
"The Coney Island of the United Kingdom". im glad im not the only one who thinks that when i go. reminds me of the film The Warriors haha
@BusterMissy1 No that was 2004 when it caught fire from an electrical fault and it took two years to repair it was only the station that was on fire none of the track was damaged.
in 2012 is there amusements like games aswell as the rides ?
Yes
The greatest show ride I remember as a child. Is it now the ghost train?
The ghost Train is around 90+ years old so no :) also totally different track and operstion
The Ghost Train is still very much in operation. A Burger King now sits where the greatest show ride was.
@queenJC99 Yeah!!! It was one of my best rides there!
aw memories ha ha!!!!! least revolution still there ..that was my scary white knuckle ride in the 80's now its infusion though.
I also remember there was a cloan on a trapeeze in the funhouse that used to climb up and flip - i never went in there because of that clown, scared the crap out of me, you could see it from the monorail. Oh yes, 1990's. THAT year.
Ohh right. Thanks.
I miss the one at 4:25+ Only been on it once :(
It is 5 pound entry just to walk around the park excluding you from going on rides unless you pay for a wristband or tickets
I used to love just walking round and watching the rides.
That clown frightened me as a kid
But the pleasure beach wouldn't be the same without it somehow lol
What was that politically incorrect thing at 5:28?
2:02 the bling is there but that came in 2004 ???? how can this video be 1990s
you wround ive been there and paid it entry for one person is 6 pond on the gat and gate price wrist band 29.99 on the day and 25 pound on line there are the prices perperson and the park is a lot cheaper then any other uk theme park
