What is RBI?
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the country's central banking institution and monetary authority. Established in 1935, it plays a pivotal role in India's financial system. RBI regulates the issuance and supply of the Indian Rupee, ensuring price stability and controlling inflation. It formulates and implements monetary policies, manages foreign exchange reserves, and supervises the banking sector to maintain financial stability. RBI acts as the banker to the Indian government, handling its financial transactions. Additionally, it conducts research and provides economic analysis to support informed policymaking. In essence, the RBI serves as the guardian of India's monetary and financial stability, shaping the nation's economic landscape.

2:00 Inflation target 4%. Tolerance 2-6%
2:25 SLR(18%) is not kept in RBI. it is a mandatory investment option in safe instruments like gold and government approved bonds..(You also missed the most important monetary policy tool Repo rste)
3:25 PSL is not same for all banks. RRBs, SFBs and UCBs(To be achieved till end of fy25) have target for 75%. Payment banks don't have any target because they can't lend. Rest all scheduled commercial banks(excluding specialized banks eg-NABARD) have target of 40%.
5:30 RBI only prints notes. Coins and re1 currency are minted/printed by GOI after coinage act 2011.
SLR is supposed to be kept as reserves by the bank and that includes deposits in RBI as well as government bonds..... simply bonds are better investment so the fund goes there...

RBI Inflation target is 4%, not 4-6%. 2-6% is the tolerance limits of inflation.

4-6% is rate given by government to RBI. If RBI fails to maintain and rate is more than 6% or lower than 4% it has to give explanation to government.

Well it was informative, I would also like to add a fact that how RBI earns profit through printing. See that RBI prints the money and give it to bank, and bank give them the value of money, not the printing value.
Means if bank asked for 2000rs note, RBI print 2000Rs note Which cost them at (3.34rs) let take approx 4 Rs for now, RBI give that 2000rs to bank and bank will return them 2000rs to RBI.
Meaning RBI earned the profit of 1996Rs (2000-4) and thats whopping profit of 499%

It would have been great if RBI had atleast placed certain norms and allow certain retail investors to invest with foreign brokers instead of own (Our own brokers utterly fail to bring liquidity). Outside india, market is much more bigger and certain individuals are capable of bringing money to the country apart from the companies. When I say certain I mean some kind of professional certification offered and recognized by RBI, I'm not talking about CFA or CA this one is totally different, this career is a unexplored treasure. Instead its most concentration goes on the gov. policies and scammers. Those forex companies RBI banned not all of them are scams there are legit one's too but who cares to sit and listen to a retail invester now, these restrictions on payment processors and no particular official gateway on such career is what making people to exploit more than before.

Rbi keeps cash reserves to keep economy stable but present government is demanding the reserve cash for elections
It is like saving money for future safety but now its different case
The required reserves are kept by RBI as it is. Surplus reserves are given to the government. Nothing wrong in this. Earlier govt should have also done the same. But they didn't.
During the great economist's tenure, India was in fragile 5 economies. Now India is the only bright spot.

High GDP rate at low base is easily achievable. There was no COVID issue then.
GDP in 2004 - 0.7 Tn
GDP in 2014 - 2 Tn
GDP in 2023 - 3.75Tn
Means 1.3Tn increase in 10 years of great economist and 1.75Tn increase in 9 years after him.
