I rescued a tibby from the scrap yard Last week and restoring now from Hail DAMAGE!! but it has a new timing chain, clutch, and all new seals in motor, belts, coils, etc, so the motor is in good shape, so i bought her, the more i have working on tibby the more I like her!! its a 2008 gt se limited 6 speed with the high spoiler, Not many tibbies left on the roads!! new subscriber!
I have a 2004 V6, and I'm going on 6 years since I got it and mine is a salvage title. It's been both a pain and a joy to have. I had to fix all that the previous owners had done to it in addition to performance upgrades and repairs. She has cost me a lot to keep her running but it's so worth it when she's at 100% and I'm cruzing on the road.
Hello. I'm a subscriber from Korea driving the Tiburon V6 model. I'm sorry to hear about your accident. 😢 It seems like the door handle issue on the door panel is caused by improper paneling, leading to a significant amount of putty residue. I always enjoy watching your videos.
I found an 05 Yellow Tiburon GT on Marketplace so I came to check out reliability issues with these cars on You Tube and came across your video. I have an 08 Lexus IS250 that was modified and the insurance company ripped me off and totaled it out when it got rear ended on the highway but I bought it back and fixing it up again. These insurance companies really don't care so it sux fr but once I get my settlement from the wreck, I'm definitely gon finish my car up. I've always had a soft spot for Tiburons tho and live their styling. Keep up the great content.
Thank you for making tiburon videos❤. I have a 06 se that I just got back from the dealership. They solved like 1 out of like 6 issues lol. I love the cars but hate how Info on these is hard to find.
@@theliltibby I had large amounts of white smoke coming out the exhaust, I thought it was the head gasket but dealer said it was still good and my issue was a bad air fuel mixture. they fixed the smoke but I still have a rough idle and loss of power in low rpms. The cel light hasn’t turned on since I got it back tho, so not sure what it could be. I’m thinking maybe crankshaft sensor but need to do more research.
I have one of these in the UK (where it was sold as the Hyundai Coupe), and have a lot of the same mods as you. Sadly cos we salt our roads and it rains here about half the year mine needed a lot of underside corrosion repairs, I've definitely spent more on restoring it than it's worth but I really don't care - I love this car and driving it makes me happy.
I live in a pretty bad area for rust in Canada, we also salt roads but if you have rust proofing services around you that’s what I get almost yearly to keep it at bay
I have a 2006 Tiburon that was written off and I'm rebuilding it because the hood latch failed and smashed the windshield and pillars thankfully there is no structural damage just a pain but glad you got your car back I love these cars
Oh wow just while you were driving? Sorry that happened, that just unlocked a new fear lol glad you’re able to rebuilt it 🙌🏼 just sucks how we pay so much to these insurance companies just for them to run as fast as they can when you need them
The hell you want to wrap the car for? To me that's a way to hide and cover up the paint, imperfections, rust or whatever. I'ld say always go with the factory base, clearcoat paint. Don't mess with that 2 stage, acrylic enamel Macco paint job. Whoever you went to to fix the damage on the right quarter panel should of fix the scuff marks on the bumper and repainted it as well. Looks like a half ass job there to me.
It's a pleasure to look at your car. If you don't mind, I'll paint mine exactly the same color. He's just flying away! Please tell me, what brand of discs do you have now? I can't find it
Could you tell me what front and rear spoilers did you buy for this car, please? I would like to buy the same and add it to my Tiburon 😊. Where did you buy headlight lids from? Thanks :)
My first video has links for all of it. Headlights are shark racing, lip is off a Subaru sti CS type and diffuser is the genesis Walker style diffuser off eBay. Both require cutting to fit and the lip requires cutting into 3 pieces & plastic welding to shorten it
I have an 08 4 cylinder model and it needs a little work done to it but I have no idea where to even start. Any tips on what to replace first just for maintenance reasons?
insurance sucks... feels like they're really NOT there for helping people out, which is what they were invented for, right?! never got the whole write off thing, especially when the car is perfectly repairable Been through a sort of similar story with my Manta this year.. long story short, i got a check but had to find my own route in fixing the damage (luckily my buddy's an expert body guy) but it was a reallly really long process before i actually got the money
Same thing happened to my tibby, part of the quarter panel is a lil damaged but my side skirt and door needs to be replaced tho, n we love tibbys don’t we
Yah if I had known my door wasn’t really repairable I probably would have bought a new door but it’s far too much money and effort now to get another one (paint/tint/wrap)🥲 so it’s good you decided to just get the door 😂 oh yah the things we do..
top tip! dont use silicone on cars, its nasty stuff if you ever would want to paint it again. Best to use an automotive seam sealer. 3M urethane 1K is my go to product for this type of job
They do this is true! I guess I’m back and forth with the “clean” look of just grey wheels or the more flashy look with bronze 😂 they’re 17x7.5 almost exactly like stock but their offset is slightly more in and the Center bore is 82 so I’ll need a big ring and different BBS lugs to get them to work + spacer 😅
@@theliltibby get Eibach wheel adapters. They're expensive but they're *so much better* than any other type of spacer I've seen thus far; I got two sets of 20mm Eibach adapters for my Tiburon for use with the stock wheels for about $400.
Great save! Im new to your channel but the tiburon was my highschool dream car, i used to be absolutely obsessed lol. Great to see someone really passionate about them after all these years! Subbed :)
Thanks! 😄 glad to see other people also having this as their weirdly obsessed over high school dream car. It was my background on my blackberry phone for way too long
@@theliltibby This is a good decision. I have a size 18, and this made the car’s suspension very loose, especially on unpaved roads and bumps What do you think about the next update for your car if you quad exhaust tips
@@Black-on2gp good to know, I mostly wanted to stay cuz the cost 😂 but also that I think 17s look perfect on it. But most wheels also look best in 18s. Quad tips are still on my mind for sure just haven’t decided on an exhaust setup
@@theliltibby I have a size 18 and I am thinking of changing it to a size 17 because the size 18 is very difficult to handle and when using a size 18 it is necessary to use a car tire with a low profile so that it does not come into contact with the fender of the car, and the low profile tire has a faster rate of damage make the tire easy to bulging , so I assure you that the size 17 is much better than 18 From personal experience the quad tips will make the car more sporty and give it a sporty character especially if the car's diffuser and exhaust tips look like carbon fiber the color black gray , I think it is a wonderful color for rims and will suit with all colors
might be worth it for you to try and find a new door for the tiburon... could find one for a good deal in a junkyard or a parts car and just wrap it or repaint it
Problem with that is it over complicated things even more, then I need to pay for the paint, have 3 different repaint jobs on one side clashing together, then re-wrap that too and have a 3rd colour tone of wrap added to that, not to mention the extra money of it all and a re-tint just to have a straight door 😩
@@DodgyGuy1 yah really does😩 I’ll keep a new door in mind tho if it rusts then I’ll have to but for now it just seems like too much extra work for such a small problem
If replacing the quarter panel is that much work, in your opinion would it be a good idea for me to get the VIS wide body (I'm assuming it comes with new ones?
I would check exactly what it gives you if it’s just fiberglass or plastic flares or whole replacement fenders because not many are. If anything it will replace the front fender but not the rear in a unibody car because of the welding required. The pics of that kit it looks like it’s molded in so a lot of filler required. No matter what it’ll wreck the quarter and if you want to go back to stock you just have to buy a new car 😂 if you’re cool with that then go ahead
Damn.. still required less work than my current restoration coupe "SIII ST" as i call it, i put a red stripe on the sides and called it an ST  may post things about it. underside is getting rebuilt cus of surface rust

How reliable are these cars for constant driving for delivery gigs?_? I normally put 5k miles a month
Considering you’ll probably find one with 80k already on it I wouldn’t do it, better off with a civic for Mazda 3 for something like that
