Feel free to adjust any of the steps to match your style as what I love about Yakitori culture is that it's a cuisine that promotes individual freedom of expression. - Навчання та стиль
I have one in my trunk right now as a backup grill. I always have it and some charcoal ready for when I wanna grill on a whim, it's perfect for picnics. You can also throw some firewood in there without the grill for a nice little firepit.
Yea as it folds into about 1 inch it's so easy to keep in the trunk floor!
I've been looking for a decent small grill....this may be it! I'll definitely be checking out your Amazon store. So glad I found your channel. This video was great! Take care my new friend!
It's ideal more as a secondary backup grill, but if this fits your needs, definitely check it out!
Thanks! 😀😀 I bought this grill as well, wanted to see someone use it. I plan to take it on picnics.
Yea, it's great as a portable option for sure!
The Weber Go Anywhere charcoal grill is the ideal yakitori grill in my opinion. It's rectangular shape is perfect for the Thaan charcoal or any off the shelf lump charcoal. You can fit 2 skewers facing each other across the entire grill.
The Weber Go Anywhere is a pretty good grill. i have the gas version because I use it for camping but the charcoal grill has easier to clean grates. it is a bit heavier compared to this notebook grill through at 13 pounds vs the 7 pounds.
Looks like a nice small grill that versatile for all sorts of grilling!
Lol Good Humor ice cream? Also an ice cream shirt can't get any better. Btw looked like you were in the SF Bay before, did you move? Thanks for the content
That’s good he is eating the sparkle bar using the wrapper ! Don’t want to get sick with ingesting raw chicken while grilling!
Great tip about the aluminum foil (or should I say "grate"?)
Yea quick easy hack, works on all sorts of grills/shapes
I think the most important thing here is that with aluminum foil one can convert any grill, even a cheap one like this, into a yakitori grill. It won't be ideal due to radiant heat loss, but it's good enough to start with.
Yup, whether Weber or DIY setups I do think most grills are definitely good enough to start making Yakitori. And upgrade equipment as you go.
Love your videos, especially the Tare training! At the beginning of the video above, did you intend to slight the Fire Sense 60450 ceramic grill? You said you had gone to Amazon to look at it when you found this Notebook Grill. I am looking at buying the Fire Sense 60450 for $44 but you said 1. Few Yakitori gang use this grill 2. It looks cheap 3. and whatever you saying "Nooo" meant. Do you have any thoughts on the Fire Sense 60450? Thanks!
The few isn’t negative. Saying I’ve seen my Instagram followers share them making yakitori on it. So it works. Not sure if I said looks cheap ever but it is cheap price. And the noooo was because they title the grill with a misspelling Yakatori instead of Yakitori and they correct it. For the price I think it’s a cheap great entry grill to start off Yakitori.
@@Yakitoriguy Thank you for clarifying. I really appreciate your reviews and instruction. 👍
Maybe you have to check out the Skotti Grill
Thanks for sharing! Looks like a fun portable grill. It is slightly higher in cost though compared to this one.
Ice cream matches the shirt!!!!!!
Yes! I actually have not had it since childhood. It was as tasty as I remembered!
@@Yakitoriguy Truly a genuine moment! :)
Has anyone tried a hard coal, like Anthracite to fire a yakitori grill?
Not that I'm aware of, maybe it'll just be similar to cooking on gas grills with ceramic rocks on top.
Where do you get the steel rods from? Is it just from a metal shop?
Yakgrill and Binchogrill sells accessory rods. Check their website and see the length that works for you.
Is there any other place to get the rods??? They say sold out
8:10 Wow what kind of yakitori is that?
While this one isn't it, dessert skewers are a thing in Japan!
that looks really flimsy. Doubt it will last through many uses. Maybe as an emergency grill. But I would expect it to warp out of shape quickly
Yup as described in the video and some others who have one have commented it's a $25-$30 cheap item that's definitely meant as a portable or emergency grill to keep in your trunk and works as great for it's intended use. Durability wise, I'd say it's same as the $50 small black metal charcoal grills with lids that people keep on their balcony. They too are flimsy but it works for hot dogs, hamburgers etc.
Yakitori grill origami :D
Simple design but it worked!
Use the cross-bars like yakitori is grilled in Japan's best yakitori restaurants....forget the grates. I bought the same one from Amazon, it works great with skewers minus the grates. But trust me, the big difference is we can't get the fresh chicken that Japanese yakitori restaurants have. It's just how it is. Been to Japan so many times, and really, the yakitori is unbeatable if you go to an established place. Avoid the street vendors, they are not that good.
Yup the chicken selection is so much different and better in Japan for sure!
You get an a for effort and I know the skewers you made were great but I would rather fashion my own grill before buying that piece of junk.
I'm a fan of DIY setups too. I mention in the conclusion section of the video that this isn't meant to be a dedicated Yakitori grill, but like Jason mentioned in the comments, a nice to have second grill/portable option to keep in the car and take places. Not bad for $22.
Not much better than a single use disposable grill.
