Gday John, you reminded me that my lathe is about due for a birthday, the fluid pumps are also know as Tom Thumb pumps to, I’ve had one for probably 20+ years and still going strong, great job mate, cheers
Thanks Matty.
Very handy to have a son with a vacuum cleaner. Wait... I have a son too...
But indeed, very useful tips.
That son also uses the vacuum cleaner in the house as well. I have trained him well...
Good video, similar challenges to my machine. I've added a pipe nipple to one of the side drains so I can get a regular funnel under it, also foldable funnel work well, they are a flat piece of silicone with a foil or metal core so they can be moulded into shape, great for the motorbike as well 👍
Thanks for your comments.
Thanks, John.
My lathe (Grizzly 12x36) has a total loss oiling system for the gear box. For the headstock drain plug, the man from whom I acquired the lathe had installed a bit of pipe and elbow, with the plug relocated into the end of that. Helps quite a bit to get clear of the belts/gears when changing the oil.
Thanks for watching and your comments.
thanks for all the details 👍👍😎👍👍
No problem.
Watching that just makes me glad I don't have any oil-filled gearboxes on my machines. 😁 Good tips for those that do though.👍
Thanks for your comments.
@@thehobbymachinistnz You're welcome. 👍
Thanks for the video, I have the same machine, just 1 question, how much oil did you use in total?
Hi I cant remember exactly but it was well over 4 litres. I would say more like 5 litres or a bit more for all three areas on the lathe.
@thehobbymachinistnz Thanks much appreciated
Hey bud your lathe is exactly the same as mine in the uk🇬🇧here it’s called a warco GH1236 basically a Chinese lathe fluid pump great idea 👍🏻
Thanks. Yes, I have seen the same lathe in a few different colours. I presume each company orders the same lathe in their particular branding?
