In 1952, for my 5th birthday, my Dad presented me with a WW II designed Willy's U.S. Army Jeep pedal car, windshield would go down, white star emblems it also had a back- rear facing seat that had a mounted wooden [black] swivel turret machine gun. Car could hold 2 children, it was amazing ! Envy of the neighbor hood, I used it when we all played Army as kids. We'd all go to the Holland Movie Theater [Old Forge, PA.], Sat. Matinee to see the latest WW II Film that was showing.. Afterwards, we'd run back home and grab our individual fathers [Veterans] WW II issued items, ie: helmets, back packs, canteens and emptied ammunition belts + our toy guns + my jeep and we'd all just have the GREATEST TIME !!! I don't know who manufactured that pedal car Jeep. Do you or anyone else know, and do they have a photo ? It was purchased at Weinberg's Hardware N. Main St. Old forge, Pa.[They're long time Closed-Retired}. Thank you !
Great story Frank, too bad kids don't play like that anymore, just video games nowadays. Sorry I cant help you out with that Army Jeep pedal car, I know you would love to have one now, good luck buddy.
Yes, Dennis, it is a shame . The world has changed so much since those by-gone days and sadly, I feel, not for the better. Hey, Dennis, go grab your Roy Rogers toy pistol set cause we're gonna play Cowboys & Indians this Saturday over at Pudgie's yard. All the kids will be there.... Yippie !! :)
Great exhibit, you might like to check out a pedal car I feature in a video titled " A look at the bunk house and some old stuff" I have on my channel, thanks.
Cogratulations!
Thanks for sharing
